That was in 2016, not 2015. TSM was a solid top 3 team who always used to beat fnatic and dupreeh was 12th best player according to HLTV. When they switched to Astralis in 2016 they started having problems and that's when dupreeh was about to get kicked, before gla1ve joined and fixed the team. Xyp9x was the one who was about to get kicked in 2015 afaik.

xyp9x was about to get kicked for aizy in tsm until he started performing rlly good and proving them wrong, and dupreeh got a warning from Astralis, poor guys never had a stable roster at that time, thats what i remember.

yup i just edited the xyp9x part in at the same time as you replied Edit: I forgot about the aizy part but yeah that's also what I heard. But yeah, they both got warnings in different points of time, that's true.

He has co-ownership in Astralis, don't think he doesn't like his own org :) Astralis are way better than OG in everyway, in terms of players, that's not me being biased, but simply fact.

No he doesn't, the stuff about Astralis being player owned was always a marketing trick. Nowadays Ast are a publicly traded company and when they went public last year they declared the names of everyone who had owned more than 5% of the org. Xyp9x's name wasn't on that list
2021-02-26 09:24
17 replies
Due to stock market regulation they are obligated to declare anyone who has a owner share of more than 5%. Not had. Has. After the IPO, which was oversubscribed 77%, the company was valued at $22 million. A 5% ownershare would accumulate to $1,1 million. Even though Xyp9x didn't pay market price as his ownership was dealth prior to the IPO, he would have had to have put in a huge sum, presumably bigger than all of his winnings combined. It's not a marketing trick. The players do own part of the organisation, but of course it's a minority part. Don't spew bull if you don't know anything about it :-)

You should read the whole comment tree. The guy I replied to claimed Astralis is Xyp9x's org. Astralis is not and has never been a real player owned org. As I said the players owning a few percent of Astralis was a marketing trick so they technically say the players were part owners. In reality the players' equity entitled them to zero say in how the company operated.

I am perfectly capable of writing four paragraphs, even to a flawed logic, thanks. I get your point, but the premise of the ownership is wrong. In your specific scenario, ownership means having a combined ownership exceeding 51% thus having majority and thereby being able to make decisions without hindrance. However, in any company, including Astralis, the owner structure provides a divided ownership, which means you can pitch in and have a say, but you can't make any final decisions unhindered unless you have the majority of the votes, which in this case is owner share.

I'm sure a plethora of people had voting rights in Astralis. All I'm saying is that nobody can in good conscience call Astralis a player owned org, not to mention Xyp9x's own org.
2021-02-26 10:21
13 replies
Sure, they definitely have. But the org is just as much Xyp9x's as it's anyone elses (obviously relative to the respectable owner share). I agree, you can't call Astralis a "solely player owned org" but you can call it a "player co-owned org", the latter being implied when stating that it is "player owned."

I don't see how you can all it a player co-owned org if the amount the players own is insignificant. You wouldn't call me a co-owner of Tesla if I bought a meaningless amount of their stock
2021-02-26 12:14
11 replies
I would call you a co-owner of Tesla if you cofounded the company and continued to own a stake in the company in the further years. Which is exactly what the Astralis roster did. And you are per definition a co-owner of Tesla if you buy a meaningless amount of their stock. That is the essence of the stock market.

What makes you think the players co-founded Astralis? They were simply signed by businessmen that already owned multiple orgs and money. In official capacity none of the players have ever been cited as founders. My question was whether or not you would call me a co-owner.
2021-02-26 14:27

The players co-founded Astralis and had invenstors on board. They were adressed shares on equal terms with said investors. Just a quick reference link esports.inquirer.net/13419/team-question.. My answer remains the same: You are per definition a co-owner of Tesla if you buy a meaningless amount of their stock. That is the essence of the stock market. So yes, I would call you a owner of part of the company if you held a stock in Tesla. Because you own a part of the company.

The players didn't found anything, none of the paperwork credits anyone but the investors. As I said the players owning an insignificant amount of shares was a marketing trick. It's not even anything new, Allu has owned about 6% of ENCE for years, GeT_RiGhT used to have NiP shares etc I'd legally be a co-owner but I don't think anyone else in the whole world except for you would call me that. Investing is so common that calling everyone who owns half a percent of a company a co-owner would just make the term itself irrelevant

Whatever "co-owner" means in your world, has absolutely no bearing on what the clinical definition of "co-owner" is. If you own any percentage, however significant, of a company you are by DEFINITION a co-owner. Trying to use the term in other way is completely moronic. Whatever your point might be, I can tell you with confidence that Xyp9x will not be joining OG any time soon. Why would a 4x major champion leave his team, to play on a team that has achieved nothing of significance whatsoever?

Not a single reasonable person thinks that. Then again you're a fan of an org that claims to be player friendly while burning their players to a crisp and denying them vacations, so you're probably not a reasonable person. By your logic you better start calling me a co-owner of Samsung, Alibaba and Tencent. Since Tencent owns quite a lot of Riot Games you should also call me a co-owner of Riot.

"A co-owner is an individual or group that shares ownership in an asset with another individual or group. Each co-owner owns a percentage of the asset, although the amount may vary according to the ownership agreement." How does that prove your point? This argument is a list cause, a guy hi knows much more than the both of us tried to speak some sense Into you, apparently you are just too dumb to admit you are wrong. ; :)

Yikes, you're out of arguments so you jump straight to personal insults? You clearly didn't get my point. As I alread explained it doesn't matter what the legal definition of "co-owner" is. Calling everyone who owns a fraction of a company a co-owner simply makes the term "co-owner" obsolete which is why nobody uses the term "co-owner" to refer to people who don't own a meaningful amount of shares. Do you think of me as a co-owner of Samsung and Tencent?
