I'd say the current status of OG is like a gatekeeper for tier1. The worst of t1 or the best of t2, but actually neither of those precisely. They kind of hover somewhere between in their inconsistency and lack of results, just because they are backed by big energy drink company and a lot of ungrounded hype around certain players. If your team is among those that skunk OG in tournaments they attend, you know you have entered the big boy arena.

tiers are about relations between teams: if one team is absolutely untouchable, they are and should be in a tier of their own - though in your example time frame there was Liquid at least, if not anyone else with Astralis in t1

I agree, but if that is explained with ping instead of skills, it's not irrelevant. Anyway I think they should have someone very aggressive guy now, someone with crisp aim that can be set to take first duel and then be traded quickly if he fails. ISSAA could lurk elsewhere, which is better for his ping, and potentially make new entryfrags. I do think dycha would have been great option for them, but maybe some other new talent might be worth of risk right now.

Not sure aleksib would want to play with the guy he was mutinied for, resulting in the project he built up over a year into a contender completely collapsing. If not for the allu+sunny boner fest, ENCE would be a top 10 team and would have won more trophies than OG has (0). Too bad sergej joined up with the military, would be perfect addition to this team right now.
