tldr for those too lazy to read; anime girls > real girls
Congratulations, you just learned what 'instinct' is.
Don't get me wrong, I like how passionate you seem to be about this but you really needed a book for this? Something tells me that you might have left out some other important bits of information.
TLDR but nice dedication if this is not a CopyPasta
Everything we do is based on survival. That's why when we touch something hot (like an oven burner) we have that split second reaction of pulling the hand away from it, even though we did not go through the conscious steps on how to do it. Also that's why we have memory, to remind us of the dangers of the past so we can avoid it in the future (so the next time you won't put your hand in the burner again). The same can be said for why we feel pain (dangerous - avoid it) or pleasure (good - seek it).
I have this book in my to-read list.
babla habla babla habla babla
its not really that deep though. honestly feelings being algorithms should be a pretty intuitive connection since neurology is ultimately complicated chemistry/electrochemistry. even then i dont see how it really makes a difference on how you yourself process thoughts or emotions
ive read the book a few years back and it was definitely a fun read but for different reasons than you i guess
We are just the organic version of a super computer.
But meaning is what you give it they are technically algorithms but you can make a effort to make yourself feel different things (Disregarding medical problems). we don't serve a higher power.
stopped reading on a part with going down the trees, wtf, adam and eve were living in the garden but on the ground, not on the trees
"every human emotion is just a way of expressing what is best to do in that situation in order to survive"
There are lots of emotions that are literally the opposite. Like if you feel confident about something that is just dumb, for example, teenagers who act dumb because they feel immortal or whatever
what about the feeling of anxiety when you are in a 1v5 clutch at 15-14 in a Major Final ???????
yeah they actually are, i agree bro
yeah but how does neural algorithms play into emotional pathologies like depression, or apathy? The loss of desire to live is pretty counter-intuitive for a species survival no? I do believe that our psychosomatic reactions to external stimuli is very much related to chemical balances in the brain, but I also think that it's expressed through language, despite it's inherent limitations. Check out linguistic theory on the nature of consciousness, interesting stuff
I read the book and it was the most boring "mindblow" stuff for the average sheep.
Well.. it seems i found another person that gets amazed by how the brain works and how it's functioning affect our emotions, feelings, thoughts, and behaviors.
It's really amazing how the brain works, and i can tell you that i learned a few things on how the brain works that would blow your mind away!
My interest on the brain functioning started when i was 28 yo and got diagnosed with severe ADHD, generalized anxiety disorder, recurrent depression, obsessive compulsive disorder and dysthimia.
You missed one thing... yes our brain is always modulating behavior by using it's "survival mechanism", but it's not always about surviving.
On an subconscious level, our brain works with this premise: "Runaway from the pain and seek for pleasure".
Every HLTV user knows these
oh so if Im in awe of classical music the feeling I have is rooted in whats best for me to survive? It took me literally 2 seconds to destroy your whole thesis.
god you guys are dumb af.
