Has to be chess. No other game is as timeless, as infinitely replay-able and as simple yet complex as chess is. It’s the only game that realistically never will die. The fact that there are billions of possible games for every atom in the universe speaks for itself.

no sports are games, why do you think they call them the olympic GAMES, theyre originally meant to have fun, to pass the time. People in the US army for example played baseball for fun on the islands in the pacific war

No that’s just not true. The longest book sequence is like 25 moves and hardly anyone’s actually memorized it. Most games go for more than 50 moves at a high level. Realistically you’ll see a new game after 10 moves or so

Nah I was getting very into chess for a while, in most top games the sequences go 15-20 moves and some have gone farther closer to 40. chess.com/forum/view/chess-openings/whic.. this article explains about it, and this was 10 years ago its only gotten worse with the power of AI. Someone in the article even back then found a book sequence that goes up to 36 moves.
