My only possible issue with it would be taste. I'm sure they'll make it taste good though
2021-03-03 21:37
Why would you not like it? Apparently its meat just without supporing genocide of innocent animals. Very cool!

if you close your eyes and shovel a handful of mealworms into your mouth, you can almost pretend that it's a nice filet mignon

First of all it doesn't taste like real meat and it's not the same meat. God made animals so we can kill them and eat them.

how do you know, you havent eaten it. It is literally grown with the real animal cells, it is EXACTLY the same as the actual thing, CHEMICALLY. Also humans are animals so i guess we kill and eat them too...

Lab grown meat obviously, I had few samples and none of them were like a real thing. You might fool 70% of the population but it’s just not that good, mainly the after taste

We're only in the baby shoes of lab grown meat. If you can fool 70% now and technologies keep improving, it'll become just as good as normal meat.

What does the government have to do with lab grown meat, apart from subsidy? If you care a little bit about the Earth, why won't you eat lab grown meat that costs the same, tastes the same and looks the same?

What’s wrong with killing for food? That’s what we’ve done since we existed and what has happened since the beginning of time

cows produce so much methane from what we feed them so reducing how many cows we feed absolute shit to will help against climate change

Maybe they can eat some lab grown meals to stop it?
2021-03-03 21:41

its complicated and we cant control what the companies do without laws, but basically theres a type of seaweed they can be fed to reduce the methane by over 95% but its expensive and the farms arent willing to only make billions of dollars

most of the animals we eat would not survive if we didn't put them in pens and other safe places. They exist for us to eat them, otherwise there in no point to them.

not really. if u want meat, especially beef u should pay the expensive price unless u want hormones and antibiotics.

cows produce most of the methane in our atmosphere because of what we feed them, so actually not using them would hugely benefit our cause against climate change

It's not like real murdermeat won't be a thing in the future, there's still plenty of animals, and hopefully people, that need to be hunted. (I'm betting on post-apocalyptic cannibalism)
2021-03-03 21:23
Is meat really the problem? When we have vehicles and industries polluting the world 24/7.
2021-03-03 21:26

yes, cows produce insane amounts of methane because of the food we give them, so if we get to stop it would greatly help climate change
2021-03-03 21:27
i think you don't realize how much the meat industry is actually part of the pollution problem.

The meat industry is a big reason why huge parts of the amazon rainforst get destroyed every year.
2021-03-03 21:32
yes it is, cows contribute like 44% of the methane that goes into the atmosphere. it takes 24L of water to produce 1kg of beef as opposed to like 2-3L to produce 1kg of a common vegetable crop.
2021-03-03 22:39
in the end all that matters, is the taste and the nutrients. if u can fix that with lab meat, im sure it will work.

And the price, if it's massively overpriced compared to regular meat then there's no real reason to buy the lab grown meat even if it's same in all other ways (unless you happen to be really wealthy and caring about animals and pollution).

but that could change if standards for meat worldwide actually improve. Most of the world doesn't eat meat whit quality and nutrients you find in EU. Prices on meat aare way to cheap atm, it shouldn't be so attainable. And thats my opinion as a meat lover, i wouldn't mind paying more and eating meat less times a week if it meant better standards and fairer distribution

I get your point, but I just thought about this since I am currently living in a pretty bad economic situation and I don't think I would have enough money to buy it even if I wanted to since if it's significantly more expensive. If the difference is small then sure why not.
2021-03-04 06:10
well i dunno about u but im not the kind of guy that buys the 4€ scuffed chicken from the discounter filled with all kind of chemicals ^^ i rather pay 10€ per kilo but i know its from a close by farm with nice conditions.

Of course I'd rather get that one instead but as I said in #84, it's not really possible (for me at least atm). If I didn't have to worry about money then I'd always try to go for an opinion like that, but unfortunately I can't. :( But if money is not a factor in this, then I'd always go for the better and more natural option.
