Why do pros fake?
Belgium Soldierce
Why do pros fake a defuse when there is no time to win the round if they let go off the defuse? I mean if the only chance you get to win the round is sticking it and hoping the enemy fails his shot or don't peak (which would be foolish) why'd you let go of it? In some situations i can understand (if they can save their gun and kill the enemy its good sometimes) but I also see it happend in round 15 and 30.

but for real, sometimes you panic in that situation/there is no time to do critical thinking and it happens by mistake. and also what u said, if there is 5-9s left, they know the person will peek them 100% for sure so they might aswell kill them rather than die.

It's because they know that enemies are not dumb enough to not peek and they won't miss a spray while one is defusing. So basically, you have no chance to win. But by faking, you can kill your enemy and do economical damage to the enemy team.

+1 as for round 30 it's just following protocol i guess. you almost never see a player on round 30, even on a 1v4 (15x2 let's say) with almost no chance of winning, giving up and dying on purpose. they play by the book usually. so it's probably the mentality of trying until the very end doing what you can taking into account the situation you're in.
2021-03-05 11:03
for some reason pros on t side stopped playing for bomb timer. probably a habit by now to fake and look for the kill instead of just sticking it because t will probably peek

yeah the biggest example recently is renegades vs mouz :D. But might be the reason. Still dumb to do imo
2021-03-04 16:11
because they are "pros" they think if they go first defuse until the end, they are not high iq, and a normal mm player.

Because they don't know EXACTLY how much time is left, sure if they have the 10 second warning music on and don't have a defuse kit, then it's obvious, but if they don't fake, they will just get killed by the T, whereas if they do fake, they can kill him and maybe have enough time to win with a defuse kit. Simple as.

Obviously Sherlock, still s1mple plays for stats or do you disagree?
2021-03-05 10:57
that's not how it works. he won't win that round by sticking it, period. the T knows he can peek, lose the duel and still win, so he'll peek 100% of the times. we're talking about pros.

some pros legit play for stats and would rather lose the round and get the kill than potentially win the round but know that you will 100% die guys like tarik will always stick it for the sake of the team and will always try to win a round no matter if it seems impossible like a 1v4 on 7-7 end of half kind of thing

Completely dependant on the clutch situation and the player's decision at the time.

#14, #24 Most Ts will peek at the right time and they dont miss, meaning you can better fake and bait out and kill them (denying a lot of money) rather than sticking and dying.

Could also be a mistake. Accidental let go, wrong split second decision, shortage in the brain, etc. They're human as well.

If it round 15 and they are losing anyways, do you blame them? I seriously doubt every teamplayer at the highest levels go "hurr durr last round I will peek for stats instead of defusing the bomb if that is the best option (i.e: T is far away) #14, #24, #35, #45
2021-03-04 17:05
and let the T peek... When you lose anyway just try it.

When you lose the round anyway you have a choice: - Stick the defuse and get shot in the head, giving the player 300 for the kill and they can save their weapons, utility and armor - Fake the defuse and give yourself a chance to kill them, denying them 300 for the kill and they can't save their weapons, utility and armor Which ones do you take?

I said when you have no option then the defuse just do it. How many time we saw that a player didn't go to defuse and was killed by the try to save... It is easy math... what you could lose,,, and what gives the potential defuse... even you chance is 1% Pros don't fake is sth I take as a rule especially when you have a kit.

When you have no option, why stick the bomb rather than fight? You might rob them off of weapons, utility and armor.
2021-03-04 18:44
because either way round is over.. it's not like other player is going to miss his shots

they could lose with luck or win. It is smarter to get the kill and then defuse or save.

2021-03-05 14:11
Because they are prolly going to get shot no matter what, it would be better to get off the bomb and get the kill, than to stay on the bomb with a low chance or sticking it and a high chance of dying without a fight. Honestly, there is no great option if the round gets to this point.
2021-03-04 16:59
because they look too dumb when they try to stick it and the enemy just peek and kill him
2021-03-04 17:10
"hoping the enemy fails his shot or don't peak (which would be foolish)" "(would be foolish)" you answered yourself
2021-03-04 17:23
because theres usually no chance that they don't get killed (they will stick it if they have a smoke). Since they play against pros, the enemies arent idiots who will let you stick it or miss their shots. Instead its just guarenteeing that the enemy cant survive and to get kill reward/ prevent them from getting kill reward.

If they know they lost and take one with them, might deal a few thousand dollar in damage, maybe no awp next round etc.
2021-03-05 10:58
To do economical damage or boost stats I suppose

Thats a good question my friend. Its a mental thing and fail at same time. For example pro's do mistakes like other players. Now about mentality, at higher levels pros can do some really good shots, so they naturally in give up mode sometimes when they in unwinnable position of that kind, they get destroyed so much on some angles, that they lose faith in trying to win round. You would understand them a bit if you cant get single kill sometimes when you are in winning position, so when you cornered like that you just have no hope at all.
