tbh brazil is so huge that there are slang differences within the csgo community on the country SIG Sauer = SG 553 Zé bombinha = someone who gets high on the scoreboard just by planting the bomb Pinar = it's a verb; we say someone 'pinou' when they miss all of their shots Miado/Melado/Tkado = when you give damage to an enemy and they get to low hp TECO TECO = CT or T auto haha i don't remember more slangs, i haven't played in a long time

yeah, probably every country has an expression for the autos that is just an onomatopoeia like that haha i guess
2021-03-04 22:54
in SA, BR players are kinda like what russian players are in EU nobody understands what they're saying and they're kinda memes instead of "Cyka rush B" we have "Rush b manito" or something like that We use teco teco for auto snipers too just because BR meme is so big that we copy the slangs kkkkkkkkkkk

haha wouldnt surprise me, the argentinians can be pretty toxic, and with their thick accent it can be hard to understand them sometimes, but it's funny even in SA couldnt imagine trying to understand an argentinian or a uruguayan if i wasnt a native spanish speaker xaxaxaxa

yeah, back in 2015 when i played seriously i malded pretty hard when i got br server and teammates since i understood nothing (i only played soloq, and i think back then there werent many SA servers because i distinctly remember playing with americans) nowadays i just embrace it, the language and cultural barrier makes it funny even if you play with people from other SA spanish speaking countries
2021-03-04 23:38
I've heard the Zé Bombinha expression before, it's lovely!
2021-03-04 23:29
May I add: - Mata-pombo = Scout - literally means pidgeon-killer - Patinete - killing an enemy while running and gunning. Patinete is 'scooter' in english - Espetinho: it's when a shot gets a collateral. Espeto or espetinho in Brazil is barbecue in a stick, like this: diaonline.ig.com.br/wp-content/uploads/2.. - When a player misses his spray we say "Spray bom é na Gamerclub" = "Good spray only in Gamersclub", which alludes to the merchandising made by boltz for Gamersclub, biggest third-party platform in SA, created by Fallen and now owned by Immortals Group. Check it here: youtu.be/s5K-oR8T99k?t=34 - Also when a player misses his shots it is said the player "drew" the other on the wall.

very nice Cyka Blyat: a Russian insult ("whore bitch") commonly said as a joke

Lmao they actually have it on the list
2021-03-04 22:23
woulda been nice if they added something like "usually used before a "Rush B" call"
2021-03-04 22:25
I laughed so hard lol
2021-03-04 22:38
in spanish speaking SA we basically just take eng words/slang and force it into spanish for example defuse would be "desactivar" but we just use "defusar" or peek would be "asomar" but we say "peekear" basically just use the eng verb or word as it is and use spanish conjugation/grammatical rules on it

I think people in most languages do that
2021-03-04 22:37

yes but it stands out for me because i really dislike when people do that thing where they take the verb and adjust it to the language's rules to create neologisms i understand if it is to help communication (maybe these words have less syllables, or are easier to say, or the properly translated term is not as specific) but in most cases it just sounds stupid and forced. idk in the case of other languages, sometimes it seems like they truly lack the vocabulary to say certain things (kinda like in japanese, if you have a casual conversation with someone you're most likely gonna hear an english term but said in japanese pronunciation at least once), but like for example shoot is "disparar" yet i hear "shootear" like wtf just stop nobody needs that.

Yea it’s easier that’s why prob, they’re terms used frequently in the community so you remember them, I don’t like mixing langurs either. Choose one and talk in that one lol otherwise it’s confusing and also sounds bad.

sometimes it isnt even easier, like you actually would need to stop and think it through in order to type or say that mixed term, then what's the point if not to make comms easier and more fluent? like i said i dont think of myself as some boomer who could never change their opinion on something no matter how reasonable the counter-argument is, im somewhat open-minded, but some things just seems so incredibly stupid to me that they trigger me.

I would assume that they don’t acutely have to think about it or it just became a habit after they did it once’s or twice.

yeah i guess so but that just proves they have 1 digit iq for me tbh
2021-03-04 23:05
Easier to just say the word originally in english than do that imo
2021-03-04 23:00
Defusar, peekar, strafar, smokar... we do the same in portuguese.
2021-03-04 22:45

strafar is strafe ? yes i understand these terms but not stuff like who tf needs to replace whatever verb ur language has for "shoot"? nobody does, everyone knows how to say shoot in their language, there is no contextual difference due to shaky translation. i can understand the language mixture if there is a reasonable lack of vocabulary in your language but not for such simple terms like srsly just stop it sounds SO bad and it triggers me. like fr i speak and understand english better than the average peruvian yet i hear these neologisms fucking everywhere (not only in videogames) from people that dont speak english at all like wtf why do you even need these if you never speak in english with anyone it just sounds so pretentious and forced

"1g: where a player accidentally kills themselves with an incendiary grenade or Molotov. Jaryd "summit1g" Lazar did exactly that at DreamHack Austin in 2016, losing his team the game." Isn't a real 1g when player kills himself with HIS OWN incendiary grenade/molotov?

Well Auto: G3SG1 not GSG9 Default: You could add that this is a callout on the most common plantsspots Dink: A headshot on a player with helmet THAT SURVIVES Dry-peek: I would say without utility not flash ECo-frags: I use it as "Getting kills against players who are eco'ing" Exec / Execute Leg: Doesnt always do 87 and is also used sometimes when shooting through the wall with an awp, not always making 87 but often around 70-99 Reset: Doesnt really exist anymore since the "new" economy. Rotate: Could also be an attacking team choosing to rotate Tilt: Doesnt always need to perform worse when tilting although you often do Could possibly add runboost? Also as an above user wrote Krieg: SG 553 Scout: SSG 08 Bullpup: AUG

I think KQLY is wrong too, I and other people who I hear using it usually say KQLY style because of Pasha and scream clip and it not only used when you make a jump kill but also when you have that glitch where your POV is somewhere above your character

Dink: a headshot that may or may not kill a player I thought a dink is only when it doesn't kill. For example that Vitality round against EG where Zywoo, Rpk and Apex(?) are dinked to 5hp or so but don't die and win the round

NA (North America): an adjective for something that is sub-par; made popular by the "North American Counter-Strike" (NA CS) meme where NA players are generally considered worse than European players
2021-03-04 23:11

the NA meme is so funny even as a noscene SA watcher the idea of NA being so bad that everyone makes fun of it is so hilarious (even though I myself am a fan of a few NA players and teams)
2021-03-04 23:15
niko in team = bench incoming
2021-03-04 23:26
In NA most people say gooshed, meaning they headshotted someone without head armor/got headshotted without head armor

It says dinked is also when you kill someone but a dink means they're still alive Also it calls the G3SG1 the GSG 9, and I think XM should be under a separate term as "auto-shotty" instead of just "auto"
