CS:GO has a big problem
 |
Israel 20_INCH_BONG
And that big problem is CIS teams. Just recently a Russian team called GROND won against FNATIC. And that is alarming. Some unknown Russian kids won against established famous players. And also we had Katowice final Gambit vs Virtus.Pro. You want to know what sponsors and team owners and tournament organizers think about this? They are scared and alarmed, because financially CS:GO needs EU+USA. If those regions are gone, this sport is done.

nah that just proves that we are getting new top teams. The healthiest thing that could happen. Nothing like this would happen in some circuit system where the top 8 teams throw money at each other

Dictionary.com defines sport as "an athletic activity requiring skill or physical prowess". It goes on to specifically mention "racing, baseball, tennis, golf bowling, wrestling, hunting and fishing" as sports. Oxford Dictionary defines sport as "an activity involving physical exertion and skill in which an individual or a team competes against another or others for entertainment". According to these definitions and my own views, I'd say that a lot of things are sports. Formula 1 is often not considered a sport since the drivers aren't being very physically busy, but real athleticism is displayed in the ability to sit in a tiny bucket at top speed and still operate a vehicle in an efficient way without crashing. Also on E-Sports; it involves exertion of the brain and excessive focus, and there is certainly a need for fast reflexes and dexterity in operating the controller. But also, if millions of people are entertained, why not call it a sport? What IS e-sports and racing in that case; a very real Netflix series?

Ah I don't care, luckily enough I'm not the one having to bait people in order to get dopamine and feel good :)

No bait, just curious

correction: f1 drivers are physically busy. they train hard to withstain the insane amount G-force the cars put out. while driving the amount you need to use your energy to fight the Gs in a formula 1 car is way more that you need for example in hunting.

Well true, but is that considered "physical prowess", like playing football or hockey? That's why I believe people don't consider F1 a sport, although I do.

I'd consider esports as a competitive game, similar to the professional circuits for darts, snooker, or chess. Not a sport but definitely not something to sneer at

So a sport is just a competitive game that involves a lot of physical activity?

so far a lot of russian team have been able to win against top team in the last 5 years if you don't remember them it's because it's mostly fluke and they can't stabilise
