I dont even touch wallets when I see it on the ground (on markets I give it to cashier anonymously). The reason is, once took the lost wallet I found from the street to the police. Later they contacted me and asked where is the money (around 1k in cash). Someone took the money before I found it. They claimed that I am a criminal etc, asked me multiple times and watched security cameras etc.. never gonna be a good person at this point.

A crime you get away with is still a crime.
It is for the greater good that people stick to what is right, that there police and punishment is just to help those that can not figure that out.
It is a good feeling doing the right thing - and who knows someday you could be dependent on some one else doing right by you.
As for your only one witness thing, then what do imagine the police does if someone points a finger at someone for committing a crime. If is anything more than jaywalking they'll investigate, besides you will mostly crack if they even asks if you did something wrong.
