No one knows for sure, what seems likely is that ":" symbol is occupied by letter "zh" on the Russian layout so it's not very handy to do shift+6 (that's where we have our ":") when everyone understands what it means anyway. Also different amount of ")" have different meanings. Single one is more of a polite smile rather than a demonstration that we find something funny, triple clearly means funny, more than that means your interlocutor is not mature enough or has little knowledge of Russian Internet culture

Ukrainian is an East Slavic language, so it is closer to languages from the same group, Belarusian and Russian, especially to Belarussian. After these it is Polish, because Poland had a huge influence on Ukraine, which is reflected in the language, then Slovak (they are "cheaters", because Slovak has similarities with almost all Slavic languages, and Slovaks seem to be especially good at learning any Slavic language because of this), then Czech

I heard the same thing about Russian. It probably depends on what languages one already knows and what languages one takes for comparison. I doubt that Slovak can be more difficult for Czechs or Poles than Bulgarian or Russian

dunno, for me Russian is easy i understand basically everything but speaking or writing is harder. And Bulgarian language is super wierd imo. Ukrainian and Russian language have so similiar verb and meaning but Bulgarian language it's on another level. It's mix of all languages which use azbuka

I meant, I don't think either Slovak or Russian is the most difficult language for most Slavic speakers. Especially Slovak, it has decent mutual intelligibility with almost everything, no other Slavic language has that feature: i.imgur.com/Yxcq6Q4.gif

you know more about my language than me lol, but ye i agree with that slovak language has mutual intelligibility with other languages, my experience with Poland, Ukraine and of course with Czech
2021-03-09 09:05
