DUST 2 is a good map, in fact it's such a good design that it brings out the best gameplay and allows people to shine on it, which is why some people are just salty they get rekt on it....honestly the only thing off with dust2 is that it's mostly unchanged for over 20 years and maybe it's the boredom that affects people more than the actual layout, i don't think it needs major changes, maybe the only major gameplay change that might be pozitive would be to nerf the middle awp battle a bit, by adding some cover to prevent the T spawn awp pick and move it to lower suicide instead, but this change would need major testing in skirmish first, as it might drastically shift the balance of the map. 10/10 design after 20 years.
MIRAGE is more or less in the same boat as dust 2, really really good design but unchanged for many years since 1.6 days, just in need of a visual overhaul, as it is one of the oldest maps as far as revamps rolled in, this map is been the same since 2014, i think a major visual overhaul to bring it closer to the 1.6 style (pipelines, slightly more urban style, less orange/red/yellow more blue maybe, less Marocco-ey looking? i would place it at dusk just to add more variety as all maps in this game take place at 12 AM....I also think the ct models don't make any sense as Brittish SAS....maybe rethink this whole thing?) would be a nice change, however the layout should mostly be the same, mayyyybe slightly make the A site a bit less of a free-for all fuckfest, but no major drastic changes are needed, 9/10 design.
OVERPASS i think shiuld be reworked next, this map just feels awkward sometimes, it has alot of potential and i like alot of things about it (the vertical layout between sites etc) but it looks like a map made in 2013, the visual style itself is quite bland, i think a full visual overhaul would be needed, i would still keep the same theme as an urban overpass but the lower site needs an overhaul to look less like a hobo shack and more like an important site for terrorists to bomb, what the hell are we even bombing in the lower site? wooden planks?
COBBLE STONE needs to come back, the map was honestly moslty fine before the dreaded coffin update that ruined it, just go back to the layour everyone liked and play around with the visual style some more, the pre-coffin state of the map was honestly not bad, the only site i think needs some adjusting is the A site, that needs a slight rework as attacking it is just not fun at all, T's need to be able to rotate a bit easier between A and B without having to cross CT spawn to do it.
TUSCAN is about to come out, i'm kinda ok with the changes Brutes made to make it more CSGO-friendlly (more open, doesn't make molotovs OP), and i especially like the tunnel changes, but the visual style i think is wrong atm, i needs to look like Tuscany, Italy, maybe make the lighting more orange-y at 5-6PM o'clock, so maybe a bit more like Inferno but more yellow-y ? Still, i like the layout, but needs testing in skirmish to be sure. Tuscan was a very very good map in 1.6 and was a HUGE improvement over cpl_mill, it was also pretty balanced between T's and CT's and most teams liked it. Also, those T anarchist models need to be changed, obviously i don't expect them to be the final ones, this map needs the inferno basque separatist models for T side, those work fine for italian themed maps, despite the basque being a faction in Spain but whatever).
I actualy am beginning to like CACHE alot, i think think the colour might need small adjustments, if the map maker really wants more grass that just add vines to the tops of buildings where players aren't ever found, and don't have as much green around the ground level, would keep the overgrown/abandoned theme of a Cernobyl map and yet allow good gameplay, i like most of the changes expect the mid CT window, that needs to go away ASAP as it ruins middle balance, otherwise the new Cache is starting to grow on me.
There are still previously-used competitive maps from older days still not in the current game....like de_fire (cpl_fire), de_lite, de_comrade....shit even aztec could be used and revamped if properly done,......etc Those could be quite good if someone took the time to balance them for csgo.
Can we start addings new original maps to the game as well? like SUB-ZERO? That thing was superb....
