Are you religious?

I've seen so many topics with religion on this forum recently, and most of the users seem to be atheists. So i am genuenly curious, how many people on HLTV believe in religions and how many are atheists? Or how many believe in a higher lifeform/spirits? Vote here: strawpoll.com/po3ders5k

If you feel that there was a ghost most likely something else happened that you dont know the full story of so you think its a ghost. I bet that sound you heard at night has an explanation you just dont have the evidence for it.
2021-03-16 12:31
How are u so sure they are real? There is no scientific basis to support that they are real.

im not an atheist, i dont deny that god exists, but ok if we think logically ive flown a lot of planes and never met a god in the sky, a lot of astronauts were in space and none of them met a god, but there is no proof that god doesnt exist right, so people believe in what they want to believe, if they believe that theres some dude watching them from heaven and helping whenever they need im ok with that, if someone denies that im ok with that, i dont care

so childish to think there is some bearded dude in the sky called god.... and very childish to deny existence of god because that would be "impossible". of course there is other galaxies and universe is big.... but how does that minus out the idea there is higher power "god". i think there is how kids think it = bearded dude in the sky is god how teenagers think it = bearded dude in the sky is fake that`s cant be real how mature people think it = god can be whatever you think of it can you even be real adult and not to believe?

the idea that 'god' is a bearded dude in the sky has been around for thousands of years. it's not really childish it's just mocking the idea of a god itself. and yes you can be a real adult and not believe in fantasies.

it`s been around that long because back then we did not know what was after the sky we only saw lights from telescopes. now we know and we realized there is no point of making god and object you can reach when you go to unknown.

2021-03-17 11:04
Yes I believe in God and I pray everyday, but I don't like to specify which religion to avoid getting into arguments. Also I believe there is 1 God and every monotheistic religion believes in that same God, they just learned about him from different prophets and stuff and that's why there are minor differences. So in my eyes, there are only believers and non believers

hahaha same. I remember when I told my family I didn't believe in any of it. My mother was cleaning some fishes and I said "poor fishes, don't you think so ?" > "NO! God said we can eat anything that fly, swim, walk or crawl !" > "Great! Why you're mad at the chinese who eat the dogs, then ?" She got mad and asked me if I believed in God. I said no. Funny story actually. I remember going to the church since I was little, but it was always boring and disgusting. Once on catequese, I suggested we should take a look on the holy water under a microscope to see how it (supposedly) helped to cure the people. They got mad at me aswell and said I had the demon on my body. Never wen't back. I think I was 11 or 12 at the time.

Your first 2 comments in that thread: "yeah it is quite cringe to not believe in God." "to reject God but trust contemporary atheistic scientists is incredibly naive." Nobody had made a personal attack on your religion or intelligence there, someone said 'cringe' to your post and that was ultimately your reaction. The bulk of your comments in that thread are pretty much just intolerant, arrogant, shitty or childish, some examples: "You know this God, you've felt his power and presence. To deny this is to deny your own humanity and lifeforce." "Clearly secular people get triggered when someone tries to only share that God is loving and does exist." "Do you believe you're smarter than Isaac Newton?" (Eh? A scientific intellectual was religious therefore to not adhere to those same views means we perceive ourselves to be smarter or better than them?) "Your idea of the universe is fundamentally flawed and this is done to make you turn from God and be easier to control" "Though if you've drunk the "atheist natural selection kool-aid" you're probably going to overlook many of them" I'm sure there's more I stopped perusing the thread about half way through. The tone of everything you say is just very much "This is how it is, I'm right, you're wrong" - which in itself is quite farcical given that it's a belief system built on, well belief, not evidence - so believe whatever you want and take it as gospel, power to you, each to their own etc. However, don't go telling others how it is when you can present no evidence, at that point you're just a wanker, irrespective of religion.

I mean it in the nicest way possible. I can state my beliefs confidently and proudly. Why does it trigger atheists so much?
2021-03-16 20:53
1 reply
It hasn't triggered me at all, I simply stated there was a thread essentially the opposite of what he was talking about (atheists berating theists), then you reacted, and then I explained. And there's an extremely large difference between stating your beliefs, ie. "I'm a proud Christian", and effectively telling people your beliefs are correct and theirs are wrong. Being 'triggered' by someone arrogantly telling you they know better is a pretty normal human response, I don't think anyone is 'triggered' just by the fact that you're a Christian mate.
2021-03-16 21:01
Yeah no doubt about that. But the atheists i’ve had a discussion with on HLTV have all been very hostile and not really willing to have an honest discussion about it. I thought we were free to believe what we wanted, instead you are insulted and mocked for believing in something that practically changes nothing.

I believe in Odin & Thor. Loki is underrated but he will help Doctor Strange and Wanda to save the multiverse. After that, they will have to face an even greater enemy that wants to destroy everything across the Omniverse. The New Avengers will have to team up with the Justice League, the CW Justice League and John Wick. When everything will seem to be lost, Chuck Norris will arrive like the true king of kings and save everyone.

I do not presume to know that there is no God, there may or may not be such a thing, I live my life not expecting it to be true though. However, most religions that I have any basic knownledge of do seem to be but human fabrication, and in my opinion believing that the world revolves around humans and more specifically those who harbor the "right" beliefs is a rather arrogant stance to take. That doesn't mean that religions do not spread good values, they absolutely do. There are also bad ones though, and all in all it makes sense that the human collective seems to slowly dismiss the idea of believing in a book or certain ruleset supposedly created by our maker.

Well, my immediate family has all kind of fallen out of the religion, but my extended family is still HEAVILY into it. There is a lot of odd nuance and just weird things about the religion. Growing up Mormon is really strict though, no coffee, no hot tea, can't date anyone until after your mission. You're expected to go on a 2 year mission if you're a man. It's just a lot of social pressure from them, I never enjoyed it once I grew to question things. There's a lot more I can bring up if you have any other questions!

Yes! Still in contact, but live about 1500 miles (around 2400 km) away. I only talk to them around holidays. Yeah, my immediate family is actually moderately okay with things. Lots of good memories as well! I've been on and off many times. Very seriously, studying the bible and all that. Also got married in church etc. I think that I still have all the christian principles, but started to question some stuff. You can find answers for everything under Theology, but it's kinda hard to accept some stuff. I do think that religion gives us purpose tho. Otherwise we are here on this planet for what? Suffer? Enjoy? Bit of both and then die? Religion and spirituality gives us more purpose, but can also be a bit tough if you don't adequate yourself, don't follow the rules, etc. Some religions will allow you some sort of balance, others won't..

Atheism is a belief as much as religion is : that's a belief about something you cannot prove : the non existence of any higher power. That's why I cannot vote in your poll : I'm neither religious nor atheist. I'm agnostic : I admit I don't know, I cannot prove one way or the other.

2021-03-19 11:06
naah... not really
2021-03-19 11:14
Yes of course. An omniscient all-knowing all-powerful being has created the universe by the snap of a finger. This is the only reasonable explanation and therefore i believe in gawd. Throw out all logical thinking and conclude your thesis based on fallacies, this is the way to go. Obviously when you can't feasibly comprehend how something could come out of... "nothing"? Then i must be right in saying that this all-knowing creature, who in fact cares about who i sleep with, must have created everything. ^ This is how ridiculous theism/deism is. The only fact we can retain is that we do not (yet) know how the universe came into existence or why (even though "why" is a nonsensical question in terms of scientifical explanation, only humans wish to constantly assign purpose). So therefore the logical standpoint is to say that you do not know, instead of claiming that your magical friend created everything, and that he cares about who you sleep with, what you eat or how you conduct your daily life.

Religion must be only personal stuff. No one should ever judge this personal space and no one should force its believe on others. religious group participation should only be allowed for adults. children must get an education for the biggest religions and a chance to learn others too. education must be judgment free. when they are 18 or 21 they can join a „group“ or none, not before follow this and we have half the conflicts tomorrow. because most religions force their believe on children who get this implanted like the smell of the mother. or why most people never switch religions? its a fucking insecure way to pass your believesystem to the next gen

I dont believe in "GOD" but if i am wrong he better send me "downstairs" cause im gonna crack his fucking skull wide open My dad died when he was 34 so i am very cynical when it comes to religion. Oh and the fact people kill each other in the fucking millions over "who has the best god!" just show how we as a human race are a little bit daft

I am sorry for your loss. Religion might not be your thing, understanably. You are factual your dads offspring and carry a big part of him with you. As long as you live, he is living in you.

"Oh and the fact people kill each other in the fucking millions over "who has the best god!" just show how we as a human race are a little bit daft" - yea, after all, we are just animals... We are definitely far from being as smart as one could hope(talking about those who think harming others will help their believes )

My grandma was religious for her whole life but then she lost her 3rd child when it was 2 years old due to a horrible illness. She sad that was proof enough for her that there is no god.
