Youtuber / Streamer - worth?
 |
Lithuania marusgg
TLDR: I'm only semi good at games, how do I become super good / super entertaining so people watch my content? *not actual bait thread I work two jobs, one as a team lead developer in a small company and in my free time I freelance for other company as a developer. I don't mind my job, it pays well and I have a future career set for me. Yet, I play a lot of video games, fpses mostly. I always thought that streaming / youtubing would be my dream job. I was wondering why people (including me) watch other youtubers / streamers. They are either: *Really good: - xQc (GAMING WARLORD BTW), - summit1g (good at tarkov and decent any game he touches), - shroud (super good at fpses), - ninja actually (i guess he's good at fortnite?), - Dream (super good at minecraft), *Or entertaining: - DougDougW (plays a lot of stuff with chat using minimal codiing) - DarkViperAU (is trying to complete GTA V without killing anyone / without taking a single tick of damage) - any speedrunner? - also xQc when he chokes So how do I become good enough (I think I'm semi good at games, but not as good as the ones mentioned above obviously) or entertaining enough so people would watch my streams / videos? Also I would need to upgrade my pc / camera and actually get a streaming room or something. Is it even worth it?

yeah and that is the problem, you're comparing an ex-pro to me who is level 4 in faceit with 1.35 kda: faceit.com/en/players/dima_fire1/stats/c.. I doubt I ever will be as good as he is :D

You don't need to be fantastic at games, though it is a nice bonus. I'd suggest just stream whatever game you like and/or are passionate about, and just talk about it on stream. What I did is I played Valorant, and even though I was like Bronze-Silver level, I still was passionate about the game, and just talking about it made other fans of the game come and interact in the stream aswell. Also did the same thing with Euro Truck Simulator. Just don't force yourself to play what is popular / what you think more people will like. If you're ready to grind, start playing games you personally enjoy, and people will stay there for you, now the game. Also "Also I would need to upgrade my pc / camera and actually get a streaming room or something." I don't know your current setup, but you definitely don't need such a high level one. I just stream from my bedroom with a shitty webcam, somewhat decent mic and a somewhat ok PC :D

You don't need to be good at games. Just be funny or be interesting on your own away. Super troll or super funny. (this doesnt mean be cringe. Being cringe or being troll/funny is complete different thing)

Idk what to tell you, either build a large community on one game or a small following community for variety, dedicate your time, be proffessional, and most importantly - enjoy what you do, don't look at the viewercount and don't let your happinnes depend on your stream stats

If you can scream all the time while playing you can become the next xqc

Dream (super good at minecraft) dream isnt good at minecraft. Probably he is even below average players. He is only good at developing minecraft server, writing plugins on java

well I watched all his manhunts, it's amazing how much he knows about new minecraft tricks / minecraft mechanics / pvp. Yes I did survive for 8+ months (still not dead) in hardcore (sry, but I consider that an achievment) but I would never be able to repeat what he did

well everyone have different opinions on "pro minecraft player" I dont think he is no where near to be called good minecraft player considering his pvp, building skills. I dont think being good at minecraft is about hardcore mode. You need to big namer (or good stats) on pvp server, faction servers or minigame servers like hypixel to be called pro player

ofc technoblade is legit pro player also he is one of the best youtubers in my opinion. no acting cringe, no trying to funny, no bullshiting. Just being his own way and playing good
2021-03-22 10:49
Its weird that newcomers come to minecraft and think everything is about hardcore mode or normal survival modes. Ofc because cringe youtubers like pewdiepie and others. While real competition real skill based games are happening on servers

true. I was watching pewdiepie before he started playing minecraft and it was really cringe to see him play
2021-03-22 10:49
I mean he's not below average, he's surely not best but he's pretty good at speedrunning and from what I know also good at 1.9+ combat After all he had a WR in some minecraft speedrun category, I hate all his toxic fanbase tho, I don't care about him at all, I don't watch him cause his videos simply don't entertain me (i hate this word but they are kinda "cringe", especially the "manhunt" videos, it's literally a few adults/men in their late teens screaming at each other things like "GEOOORGE" ) I said how I was neutral to him, I'd like to correct that as a person he rather has a negative reputation in my eyes - cheating in speedrun and then submitting an unfair run to speedrun.com , also his twitter responses - YIKES

he code his own plugins. and develop servers which he use on videos right? It looked like he is good on programming, writing scripts on java.

You dont need to be good at a game to be a streamer. Streamers are entertaining, not insane.

I mean for an example, viewers don't watch an entertaining streamer with 0 hours in CSGO looking at the ground instead of his enemies heads.

Visual and auditory pleasure. - Skill - Charisma - Communication - Stream Setting The easiest way is to play a game with a friends and talk through TeamSpeak, it doesn't matter if you talk about game, world news or other hobbies.

Viewers want to see the fun and not tryhard gameplay. As I said the easier way is to play with friends and the harder way is role acting.

Based on your topic, it will probably fail. You have low confidence and look too much at what others do. If you want to make it work, write a plan how you will get viewers. If your viewers count stays rising you will be motivated to continue. But like you said, why would anyone watch your stream?

I am actually (well I like to believe so) overconfident irl. I'm extremely extroverted too. But from the other side of the medal - I like to weight my chances. I guess you I should just go ahead and try. I just need to find something that will be ME, you know? Thanks for the comment mens)

If you are extroverted you will have no problem entertaining viewers i would guess. Especially when you find your 'gig'. But approach it like a business, make a plan. How will you get your first viewers etc. gl mens
2021-03-22 12:45
I also would like to start streaming, but I'm too lazy and I want to have at least like 100 elo handicap (only 2k now) on faceit to start streamerino since last time when I was streaming Valorant, I played worse, so need to get use to it since my attention is just spreads all over the place, while need to focus for games. But I would suggest, just play, be yourself and you might just find your viewers, unless you're super boring ofc. I started streaming back in the day for 1 month and gained like 10 consecutive viewers (didn't pay anything for promo), but then finals started and then I moved to different city and had bad internet and since then my streaming career was over :D Mby will resurrect. GL to both of us.
