Basically only robotic learning thousands of text (idk if its a thing but in Cze we call stuff you have to learn just to pass the test and then forget it "robotic learning" or maybe it could be machine learning idk just boring learning :D) Do whatever you like just promise me you won't let them rich corporates to buy you, be honest mate and help people.

I think everyone knows it's boring, but if you have the passion for it i think you should go for it.
2021-04-15 08:09
the thing is they can't forget those texts because a lawyer needs to be constantly aware of the all laws. for example my aunt is a lawyer and now she needs to study every week since new covid laws come every day.

its distinguishable enough to know where I'm from probably because of the dialect too though, but its not like what your probably thinking its a pretty weak accent not that strong, the strong Geordie accent is mostly prevalent in old men and chavs IMO

i mean theres plenty of gay bars/saunas etc in korea too id assume a google search will bring something like that for every country, even "gay place ukraine" brings up the same things thats nothing different lol brighton has been the gay place for hundreds of years now though that's the stereotype because all the soldiers used to bum each other there

Actually, it doesn't bring any saunas it just talks about gay nightlife in one certain district in Seoul. It doesn't bring up any city like it did in the UK.

i dont drink alcohol and i am an Involuntary Celibate I've been carrying an unwavering regret and misery for not trying hard enough in school. After getting declined by ivy leagues and choking my last year of high school I can't let myself be complacent again or I will hate myself too much. I've been solemnly contemplating my agonizing life for a year now, if I make the same mistakes again i'll never forgive myself. At this point I'm in an all or nothing situation really different than someone living with their parents attending the uni for domestic tuition. I am gambling everything to make this work, hoping that I will be able to live alone and earn enough to afford international fees. If I can't then gg everything

i graduate from uk uni this year.. why would u ever want to study when its at an edge of economy crash......... wtf? also its honestly a dogshit country, especially england, english are arrogant and ignorant, also english girls are disgusting, uni education is sometimes very good sometimes trash depending on the course and uni.. i wouldve dropped out from my uni after year1 but couldnt because thats not accepted in my family. and before you say im bad at studies, i got the best student award in the whole uni, so im not what im trying to say, u still have time to apply to other countries.. especially if you are taking a loan, its not worth it. do yourself a favour and go to netherlands, denmark, sweden, finland, anything but uk.. and studying law in uk... thats very different from other countries' law

-earn less than 26K (or whatever it is) then pay nothing back -earn over 200K and pay it all back at 9% per month of (earnings per annum - 26K threshold) then who cars because degree made you earn that amount - earn more than 26K and less than a lot , say £42K/yr. well you pay 9% of earnings = threshold per month. It is proportional to earnings and really not a lot of money each year. it isn't the US where debt remains even if bankrupt. It isn't the US where everyone must pay back what they borrowed REGARDLESS of what they earn. Literally 0 financial risk and you can even profit off of what you borrowed for 'living' if invested well.

just how I thought just wanted to be sure S: I was thinking of studying in the UK myself but I'll probably go with Germany cause of the price. also, it depends where in us but you can study in a community college and then transfer -tuition will be no more than 9-15k and cost of living another 15k assuming you are willing to study in public universities and not just Harvard or MIT type of unis
2021-04-16 12:48
if u are going to uni just to have something dont waste your time trust me u will regret it so hard

I was studying law and found it boring (I was studying it because my brother is attorney and I would have easy money and job if I finish) Instead i left my previous uni and now I'm finishing IT studies and I'm so happy :D It's harder than law for me tho, a lot of things to 'understand' not just memorise. If you like law then it's great and I wish you luck :)

I;m thinking of attending the University of Edinburgh instead since I received an offer from there. I applied to both Bristol and Edinburgh for a Law degree :D

I think you're probably better off with Edinburgh as it is a slightly better uni. However, do keep in mind that Scotland is a different jurisdiction and you will technically be studying Scottish law and not English law. This isn't really a major issue though when it comes to qualifying in England, but something to keep in mind. I read law at UCL myself.

yep i thought it might be an issue at first but there are conversion courses available in the uk + if i want to practice elsewhere there are options for that too (JD in the US for example). I might attend Bristol instead if they offer me a scholarship, but otherwise I will enroll in Edinburgh :D

You don't need a JD - you can simply take the NY / California bar exam, if you wish, because an English (and presumably Scottish) law degree is a qualifying law degree. I did the NY bar myself, but keep in mind that it is quite a lot of work. TBH wherever you go the best thing you can do is aim to get a first. Will make your job search significantly easier.

that is true but I can only practice in NY/California if I do that

Well, it depends on what your game plan is really - appreciate that it's years away until you start working and you probably have no idea what to do at this stage. Technically, if you are qualified in E&W (or Scotland) then you can only practice there too. However, in reality, these things are a bit more lax and depending on what you will go into you do not necessarily need to be qualified in a given jurisdiction. Also, it never hurts to be dual qualified. I am a solicitor in E&W and an attorney in NY and both qualifications have been incredibly valuable for my career. The other things is that if you do the NY bar you can use that as a basis for doing the QLTS in England & Wales, which circumvents the need for doing a training contract. This is what I did.

good info ty. I am wondering if I will make enough from an LLB in Scotland to justify taking out US loans btw. I will need to take out 15k or so on my first year, is that something I can expect to pay after getting a job as a lawyer in Scotland?

Why do you want a loan in the US? If you're interested in salaries have a look here: rollonfriday.com/inside-info/trainees I have no idea what the salaries in Scotland are like, but I'd imagine that they are in line with non-London salaries in the UK (so have a look at firms in Bristol, Manchester, Birmingham, etc), perhaps a bit lower. Also really depends on the firm. With a Scottish law degree you can always of course apply for jobs in England too, but it is significantly more competitive.

have to take out a us loan because I am a resident there :( can't take out u k loans until 3 years pass in my residency. Kind of scary then thinking about how I will afford everything :/

Ah - bummer. You may have a problem then because lawyers' salaries in the UK are considerably lower than they are in the US. At the same time, tuition is cheaper too (at least by contrast to out of state tuition rates).
