YOU WILL NOT ONLY IGNORE DECADES OF STUDY YOU WILL ALSO SHIT A LOT
if it's 2 weeks, I would say throw away. If it was 2 days, I would say eat
Sell by date is not an expiration date, literally look at it, smell it and judge using common sense, 2 weeks is hardly anything.
better stay away from expired cake, i got offered expired one had to throw it out, thank god i buy only smallest piece possible but it was good taste test would buy not expired one next time :D
We have taste and smell for a reason
probably not but as a general rule of thumb anything that looks, smells and tastes fine is most likely edible
give it a small taste, if it tastes bad dont eat it
If it wasn't in a fridge, throw away for sure
If it one of those "artificial" ones that is good for six months, then a couple of weeks is likely not an issue. Still if in doubt then don't, leave that for when starving on a deserted island or something.
Lots of food items are good much longer than dates on the packaging suggests, but it more dry stuff like say rice or pasta. And then there is of course wine and spirits - I have bottles that are 3 decades old that just wait for the right occasion to get opened.
