CS scene is bonkers

Random teams winning left and right. Am I the only one who misses times when there were actual ERAS. NiP, fnatic, brazilians, french, hell even astralis. I love it because it's so cool to see era team lose and you always support the underdog and upset wins. Now there are no underdogs, top 15 teams are all the same, any of them can win any tournament realistically. /discuss

I would love a scene where top 1 team loses to top 15 team would be considered upset. Now it's just normal, I find it boring.

They always had good players.

So you want a number 1 team that hardly gets beat by a 15 ranked team? And that's fun?

yep it makes matches more exciting and underdog wins have more value. This year and last year whenever I saw a top3 team losing to #15 I couldn't care less

Underdog wins have less value because there is no "over dog" man Doesn't matter if you are "ranked better" when it means nothing when all teams beat all teams all the time
2021-04-12 14:50
That's actually stupid because you can hop for that with teams from top 20 and below. More teams on the same level = more suspense on who's actually winning tournaments. CS is more interesting than ever because there are like 15-20 teams that can beat each other depending on the day, making every match more meaningful to witness. Nobody (Outside of stan fans) wants to watch any competition where an A team wins everything while waiting the 3 games they don't to actually get hyped.

idk about you but I'd take prime Astralis vs prime Liquid or prime Astralis vs prime FaZe over Gambit vs NA'VI any day. Those series were far more intense and memorable
2021-04-12 15:03
If every single team can beat every single team in top 15, and results are basically a fucking toss up, then there is a massive dilution of skill at the highest level. If there is zero consistency, and Astralis can go from top 1 team in late 2020 to getting 16-1'ed by spirit 3 months later and not making quarter finals, and Gambit can go from winning katowice to losing to copenhagen flames and Heroic can go from top 1 team in 2020 for a bit and then completely disappear later on then it just shows there is definite skill involved. If anyone can beat anyone then how can we say there is a difference in skill? and who wants to watch a game with no definable skill involved? Other examples #45

Online cs is shit.
2021-04-12 13:20
"Am I the only one who misses times when there were actual ERAS" How can you miss that? imagine knowing who wins next tournament, because one team is ahead of others by miles.

that's the beauty of it, to anticipate when that "unbeatable" team loses

Got you. but i still like when there are too many teams considered as favorites, and you can't decide untill later stages of event, who wins it all. CS is good rn, only thing missing are lans.
2021-04-12 13:26
facts MUCH more fun to have underdogs fighting top dogs instead of random wins that dont mean anything

Yeah, just go watch a match when you know who gonna win even before it starts. Eras were boring, always some 2:0 grandfinal with 16:8 and 16:5

random teams won left & right -> that's the fun part for me
2021-04-12 13:26
pretty sure you're the kind of people asking to remove bo5 because its too long... this scene is competitive (online or not), and its a good thing, because teams need to improve and find new things to win. An era is something, but i remember comments when it was Astralis' era "why bet against astralis...?" "why watching the whole game we already know..." to me, it was boring. for once, no NaVi, no Astralis, no Vitality, no BIG... those orgs have to put more efforts to step up cause now people know their playstyle. and this is a great thing for csgo. you dont understand competition? go back to mario kart
2021-04-12 13:33
absolute nonsense, its very competitive and thats a good thing for viewership.
2021-04-12 13:44
People cried and hated fnatic for beating all their favourite teams = now they want it back I guarantee the same will happen with Astralis with people crying about how they miss Liquid vs Astralis or NaVi vs Astralis

yea, the stupid young fanboys mostly though.
2021-04-12 14:29
I miss those times because currently there is absolutely no consistency in the scene. I'm fine with random teams winning, but I hate when they win because the top teams straight up choke and underperform. Take NaVi, Astralis & Vitality for example. They basically dominated until after the Blast and now you can argue none of them are inside the top5. And you can clearly see that it's not because other teams reacher their level (well maybe you can argue about Gambit), but because they suddenly had such a huge dropoff in their game. And IMO that's not fun to watch.

Actually cheering for the underdog is beta behavior as its just the beta trying to rise to alpha position vicariously through the underdog team.

No, the world of cs is not the same of the real world. the roots of game always been the emotion, the most of viewers cheer for the show not for the teams. how much more rounds played, better for the game. the best demos are the longest games, i never downloaded a 2:0 demo however this moment shapes the csgo that will come in the near future
2021-04-12 14:15
there are like 10 teams that could all beat each other on any day. gambit have turned themselves into statistically the best team of the year so far. herioc have come up strong astralis not as strong as they used to be. navi being inconsistent. virtus pro coming up strong with the best save strats out there. i feel its great to see new teams doing great. teams like Big who were no.1 for like a day seem like they have fallen off a cliff. the hardest thing is to be no.1 consistently for a long time.
2021-04-12 13:58
I don't seem to understand why everyone's era is good except Astralis, they were the most dominant ever? But sometimes, yeah...

what bonkers mean
2021-04-12 14:01
online has always been random but this is something else. New winners at nearly every event, there has been like 8 different teams ranked 1st in 12 months
2021-04-12 14:18

+11111111111111 it's so fucking boring when every 1 month there's a new team that's somehow top 1 and every team's form is a literal coin flip where Gambit will lose to fucking copenhagen flames in a bo3 but are in finals of S tier events.
2021-04-12 14:47
Final 4: FURIA (Good team, has a chance to keep top10 after LAN Heroic (Onliners, will be TOP15, cadian plays since 2013 and never got a LAN trophy) Gambit (Katowice 2021, sh1ro biggest onliner????) NiP (hahahahhahaha) stupid online...

Exactlyyyyy. Also, to note Heroic the players most definitely knowingly abused HUNDEN cam and the org and players are still working with that bug abuser.
2021-04-12 14:46
ONLINER cs is just boring dude. Every team can upset every team, there are very few good storylines, every team's form is just constantly in flux, there hasn't been a team consistently looking like a top3 team for more than even 2 months, it's barely worth watching. Heroic was a top 1 team last year and then completely disappeared for the rest of the year. Astralis was a top 1 team late last year and then now they can't even make quarterfinals in EPL, and are losing to EG, getting 16-1'ed, 16-2'ed by fucking Team Spirit and Furia? Gambit can be in finals of events but lose to Copenhagen fucking flames as well? and NAVI, and the list goes on. TL;DR ONLINER CS is boring af, I just can't wait for major in stockholm. Casters like SPUNJ are like uhh buhh but you're paid to play the game but in reality is it's impossible to be consistent online, both as a team and as a player, which is shown in the past year's results.

Love these threads, you want to gatekeep same teams/orgs winning tournaments, but when upcoming and hardworking teams win instantly hate. How do you expect scene evolve and be more interesting? If it's more competitive and teams realize they need to perform much better to win, therefore dropping dead weights in their team.
2021-04-12 22:29
"any top 15 team can win realistically" ?????
