Laptop Choice
 |
Ukraine potapUA
Hi guys I understand that there might be some IT experts considering the fact we are on a gaming forum. I love to play games but I am not so good with hardware. I need a laptop for 3D modeling and rendering things, I will not play any games it is just for work. Is there any laptop sufficient enough? My budget is 1500 Euro I was thinking about ASUS TUF DASH F15 do you think it is good choice or there could be something better? Thank you my lovely fellow HLTV mens

No matter where I will live, I am from where I am from and I am not ashamed of it. I do not have any connection with the culture and history and no reason to show the flag. The same if someone ask me where I am from, I will not say Spain, only that I live there.

Asus TUF Dash F15 FX516PM-HN026 Intel Core i7-11370H/16GB/1TB SSD/RTX 3060/15.6"
2021-04-15 16:44
what are the specs? the website says "up to i7-11375, 32gb ram and rtx 3070" if you're anywhere near those specs it should be more than enough

It should do. But if you have colleagues who do 3d rendering as well it might be good to ask on their pc specs and get their opinion as well

Unfortunately, I do not, freelancing job but I will try to do more research on google. I just wanted to ask here since I imagined there might be people who do this as well.

I see. Well, try to see if you can find a better deal (maybe look into some AMD products) but that one is definitely not a wrong choice

Keep in mind that laptops GPUs are weaker than their regular versions. If I were you I would just go on YT, there's many channels covering "top laptops for x/y".

The new Macbook Pro M1 chip, powerful stuff for videos and graphics, within your budget.

Then get an external monitor or wait for the M1 16''. I've spent years changing setups and this is my conclusion: -If you edit on Premiere Pro: build a WIndows PC -If you edit on Final Cut Pro: get an iMac or the new Mac Mini M1 -If you edit on Davinci Resolve: both PC or the Mac M1 are good -If you need a laptop, get a Macbook, the reason is if you edit on the go (like myself), Macbook keeps the same performance on battery, whereas with other laptops you need to plug in to have a good performance. P/s: the new M1 chip on Apple computers is insane...

M1X 16" will be beyond the budget. Also, depends on which software he wants to use for 3D modelling may not work on MacOS.

That's true it completely depends on the system he uses. Though I wouldn't run 3D modeling on a laptop either... Better build a strong PC rather than spend time waiting for a laptop to render. Time = money.

Maybe he needs mobility, I have couple of friends who also are using 3D Max and they use laptops because they need to move it around from office to home and to client's offices for presentations. But my recommendation would be the highest spec laptop that budget can buy :D

How good is m1 compared to nvidia gpu?
2021-04-15 17:36
M1 is a chip, RTX360 is a graphic card. Those are 2 completely different things. What are you talking about?
2021-04-21 17:34

The m1 has integrated graphics so I was comparing the rtx 3060 to that
2021-04-21 18:55
M1 is a complete setup on a chip. The RTX360..whatever is also run by a "chip" and uh...
2021-04-21 19:08
For 3D modeling, the specs are more than fine. As long as you don't do color grading and all that shit where you would need a laptop with a good screen this is fine.

Zephyrus G14 with the 3060 + Ryzen 5900HS is really good tho. Problem is, I don't think there's 1 on the website you gave. Or I don't even think it's released in Spain yet.

Listed Asus will do just fine but... why not just go for PC if you want 3D/rendering? I see no reason to use laptops for things like these

Buy a desktop PC and leave it at the company. By the way for a few 3d application certain hardware is required and from what I know there is no laptop with those credentials.
2021-04-21 19:11
buy a pc for work and weaker laptop for home
