european super league

damn the football clubs tweeting about it and get all the hate... which normal fan would actually be fine with something like that... all of these clubs deserve to be punished... respect for Bayern, Dortmund and even to fucking psg

psg denied cause their owner is UEFA board member. German clubs are owned by the public. Bayern is 75% public owned and the rest are atleast 51% public owned so they cant go even if they wanted to

yeah thats because of the 50 + 1 rule. German clubs need to be atleast 51% public owned no matter what. Only few clubs have exception which include wolfsburg and hertha berlin. Wolfsburg is owned by volkswagen since forever and hertha berlins owner funded the team for almost 20 years before he was allowed to take ownership. not like the prem any team gets a billionare owner and goes up

their loophole is their club is owned by red bull and the 51% is red bull staff and employees. They took a low tier club and transformed it into a great team by developing good players. it is a bit scummy but they arent a psg/city/chelsea.

Because it will destroy the national leagues and make football the sport of an elite group of teams. This will lead to a lot of bankruptcy down in the football pyramid and the game won't benefit from it, only those 12 clubs as of right now.
2021-04-19 08:47
domestic leagues are less and less relevant for top teams though if we don't create super league we should at least prevent the gap from widening even further

domestic leagues give a chance for every team to get glory. Look at the prem west ham has a chance of being in ucl next year. and arsenal chelsea spurs liverpool can all miss out. These teams just want to secure the money for themselves

But everytime these teams get into the european cups they shit themselves. Sure, teams can have a miracle season in the league, but then against the big teams they wont win. They're basically filler teams. Who wants to see filler teams knocked out every year?

Domestic league rewards teams for playing consistently well. Why should Arsenal be in the super league when they haven't even been able to qualify for the champions league past 5 seasons.

Basically, the richest clubs with the rich overseas owners who don't know jackshit about football or don't have any passion for the sports (or any love for the fans etc) are forming a league with about 15 clubs that will not be able to get relegated, just because they are rich. I don't know if any other clubs will be able to enter, if yes, it's probably other ultra-rich clubs. This would destroy anything other than elite football, and any domestic competitions.

It seems like it. That in itself would get stale and boring pretty quickly (15 same teams playing each other every week, with no change at all?). All underdog stories would be eradicated, and the top dogs would only get richer. Basically killing football.

Footbal is like one of if not the most one of the corrupted sports in whole world. Players have transfer prices bigger then some countries whole year earnings and all that internet community around that ready to cancel any player or club just because someone said so even without proof because why should you have presumption of innocence when its easier to do 10 tweets in 1h about how you were looking up to that person/club but this one mistake (not even prooven) totally changes your opinion and you wish him only the worst, kicked out of club or even worse some braindeads send deathnotes just because some tabloid made up or blown up to stratosphere some sh*t...

first of all cr7 > messi. basically football has tiers and divisions. and they have a system where the best teams in each tier move onto the next tier and the worst drop to the tier below. This happens in the domestic league which every country has their own for. English clubs have their own. Germans have their own and so on. What about the top tier 1 clubs? They get to play in european competition called champions league where all the best teams from europe play. So the best teams from every domestic league qualify for it. And u can get a lot of revenue. However this revenue is not guaranteed as u need to consistently do well in ur league. So these guys are making their own league breaking the structure of football all to guarantee money

Unlike American sports, European football has a promotion/relegation system. There have been some seasons where 'lower-level' teams upset higher level teams and this is what football is about. By taking these top teams out of their domestic leagues and into an exclusive league, it'll no longer be the case.

Rough translatation from English to Chinese (in my head) and then to American: So basically its like McDonalds, Burger King, Taco Bell, KFC, Wendy's, Chick-Fil-A, Domino's and Subway all said lets make a new city together (perhaps they call it "Obeseville") where it only sells their food nothing else and if another brand performs well that year (Chipotle or Popeyes for example) they might let them join the city. Also their stores can never be shut down because they own the city (Obeseville). Hopefully my American translation is readable mens :)))

It's just bad for football, they're making money just for themselves and screw all smaller teams. If exposure and money all go towards the same teams, it's the end of competition. In the biggest club competition (Champions' League), during the last years, some underrated teams managed to be real dark horses and take big clubs down (Monaco, Ajax or Atalanta), which was really exciting to see. We won't see that again. And it's even worse when pandemic made all smaller clubs financially suffer, it's really an ass move from big clubs.
2021-04-19 08:55
it's probably good, cuz it will be a clowny commercial league and focus will be on lower tier leagues by the majority of football fans.

Because these shitty clubs is where most players come from. Competition needs underdogs. Without them and their fans, it's a death of football the future of football, Mbappé and Haaland wouldn't be spotted if Monaco and Salsbourg didn't perform against the best teams in CL. In a closed league, you can't see that happening anymore. Also seeing underdogs beat the big teams in CL and somehow get top 4 (like Ajax, Lyon or Atalanta) is something people like to see. In a closed league, you can't see this happening anymore as well.

Yes,they can still perform in lower leagues. I agree you wont get better without a good opponent but i completely understand these clubs. Uefa+fifa is milking them and they set up ridiculous rules etc. Naturally they want to "break free". It wont happen anyway if their players are banned from anything uefa/fifa shielded.

I don't think this format will take root. And if they do, I will not be upset, there will be a separate tournament for 10-15 teams of moneybags, let the oligarchs compete there, who will throw money and stars over whom, I will probably still watch the Russian League and the Champions League. Real fans supports their local clubs anyway for more then 100+ years father to son. +The tournament itself (Champions League) will become more unpredictable, otherwise everyone is preparing for it with all their might, but Real wins anyway, roughly speaking. I would also speculate that the Europe League in this case will generally slide down, not to mention the third European Cup, which UEFA wanted to launch, well, it was just a strange idea.

what a disgusting affair, as a Barcelona fan I absolutely agree with Gary Neville this should not happen. It's confusing as well cause everybody is acting like this is a done deal while not all founding members work the same way. Barcelona is not privately owned - the club is owned by the supporting members and supposedly all big decisions are to be voted in assembly. Club president can't do anything he wants, but I'm guessing Bartomeu maneuvered his way into yet another good decision...

I hope that football fans in Europe think like us, no one agrees with this here just teenagers, German teams have my respect football is not just money, although the Bosman Law made football here in South America to be terrible to watch better players leave here before 20

"super league" would be good for 3 seasons. after that it would turn into sh*t.... many clubs could get destroyed. i mean imagine a club like idk let's say juventus playing there and ending up 10th, 15th,... whatsoever or even relegating.. imagine a current top club turning into complete irrelevance because of. finishing 10th every year for 15 years straight. on the one side bpl would get literally destroyed and could finally see how. overrated they are, on the other side they would literally try to spend. double the money to not let that happen. bpl is such a boring league to watch without players really identifying with a club and just playing for the money. english teams without english players in the starting limeup etc... i mean wtf. sadly its starting to be a trend in othet leagues as well. look at Schalke. the players don't care. they would just instantly leave and couldn't care less. some bayern players in sane for example as sell. bayern is a good example here because they used to. stand for mia san mia. = we are us. now we get randoms like choupo mouting saying mia san mia after 1 day im the office LMFAO The ribery / robben / lahm / schweinsteiger era.. that was mia san mia man. but ofc not every player is to blame, kimmich, goretzka, Müller, martinez, hernandez, lewandowski, neuer arr good mia san mia examples. most of the other players just think of themselves. super league would be the biggest commercial non footballish thing to exist. rather think about improving champions league (would get unnecessary if super league exists). every club would have to spend much more money than before because of fast results etc. would be like. US sports... pure commercial. domestic cups are important, some clubs may be doomed to play in lower domestic leagues, so just improve the CL system in some way and stop the freaking other new competitions, i dont even know the names of them anymore.. How it should be: 1) Domestic League 2) Domestic Cup 3) Champions League, improved, more games, maybe 3 teams to advance? 4) Club WC (to atleast have one competition worldwide) _____3 obviously means UEFA CUP/Euro League or however it is. claled rn for the 2nd tier. The were thinking about adding another euro league and this could be a great idea for lower teams to shine. example: doemstic league 1-3 playing champions league, 4-6 Euro League, 7-8 this new league, like another lower tier european competition, good. shit.

we knew this was coming. Top clubs are tired of the bullchit uefa/fifa has thinking that they are above all the clubs. Uefa adding useless tournaments like the nation cups or trying to add more useless games to the UCL. Then Fifa with their stupid international matches rules. Im a top club i pay my players top money and im in a period where im playing for every title but noooo theres a stupid stop to play 3 international matches, my player gets injured and my season is ruined (bayern). Fifa laughs with the money they got with those matches and Bayern just cries why it had to be them with the bad luck. And what happened with Bayern could have happened with any other club, for example Madrid almost all their players are at their limit, they even had to throw yesterdays match against Getafe to let their important players rest if these 2 (FIFA and UEFA) werent so greedy maybe the thought of a superleague would have never happened edit: forgot to mention how corrupt they are accepting oil money for a world cup in fucking qatar and not punishing psg/city for the financial fair play
