OK this is even dumber than just the idea of having "the chosen bunch" of the clubs that cannot be relegated or new clubs are not able to get to that bunch. Seriously if people will not boycott this and it will actually happen i do not wanna live on this planet anymore...

honestly, it would be bad, but the "Seriously if people will not boycott this and it will actually happen i do not wanna live on this planet anymore..." part is a bit too much i'll gladly support west ham or leicester, or even leeds than watch that shit, like i wouldn't care that much, maybe football would be better without these rich fucks

but for some people, like me i grew up supporting tottenham, never considered them a "superpower" in the footballing world, it would suck not being able to see them in the premier league.

Not a fact since you can't prove it, you calling football boring is an opinion.

Well...you could say the same about the clubs that joined this "Super League" if you look at the money in the league lol.
2021-04-19 00:51
Volvo were among the first car manufacturers to implement safety features like full seat belts and headrests I think it is a bit harsh to say that they only care about euros when they obviously care about safety and making a good product

This is even more stupid. International football isnt widely watched besides big tournaments anyways. People watch it because they want to see the best players play for their country. Imagine Portugal without Ronaldo, Arg without Messi, etc. Who would even dare watch international football? The league isn't THAT bad.

Yes, but people watch because they want to see the STARS play. I'm pretty sure viewership is down when Messi/CR7/etc. isnt playing than when they are.

Trust me, it will get boring pretty fast. That's the charm of CL, when it happens you get to see the clash of the titans. Watching juve play barcelona or inter playing madrid sounds fun but week in week out, it will get repetetive and boring fast.

I doubt it. Maybe after a few years, but the constant player changes will make it interesting. Just like in CS, everyone watches the big games which happen quite often in ESL pro league/etc. but who cares about Havu vs lemondogs or w/e

There will be no stakes in this super league. You win, you lose, it doean't matter. It doesn't make a difference wheter you are first ot last. This is just a bunch of glorified friendlies.

Of course I do, I've been watching it for about 17 years. Upsets happen sure, but RARELY. Normally, the teams with the most money end up winning anyways. Past 5 years are all rich clubs. Last team to win that was 'small' was Porto in 2010.

Porto in 2010 ? It was Inter who won it that year.

that is the view of an old classic watcher and fan. These times have changed a lot. many don't watch club football but they watch WC. Sure many wouldn't watch a random tournament without Zywho or S1mple but they would watch the major.

can somebody tell me why is this "Super league" so bad? All I know is there will be 12 big teams playing.
2021-04-19 01:25
10 replies
Well... 1) It kills the hype. Having big matches like Barcelona-Liverpool (example) every single week will end up killing the hype that people have when Champions League starts. 2) They basically said "F*ck you" to all the "small" clubs and made their own league. Idk what will happen tbh. UEFA, FIFA, La Liga, Premier League etc are all pissed at these clubs. So yeah...idk, we will see in a few weeks i suppose. But UEFA tweeted this: >"every club & player participating in The Super League will be banned from all competitions at both European & international level - this includes playing for their country" so right now i have no clue. I believe its permanent bans as well.
2021-04-19 01:31

I read that its not permanent, the teams can come back at anytime but they have to start in a Low league eg in England the 5th tier

Yeah, those teams wouldn't agree to that lol. So basically, they won't come back.
2021-04-19 01:34
Well, if you look at Twitter people supporting these clubs said "F*ck you" to the clubs and said "I am no longer supporting Spurs" etc. Well...i doubt the leagues will allow them to come back if this "Super League" starts.
2021-04-19 01:36

Hopefully the owners of these clubs will wake up and realise how shit this decision is, sure they are making money but at what cost? Losing most fans, after this big pump of money surely with no fans watch clubs aren't gonna turn a profit, and even as a devoted spurs fan I hope they get harshly punished for this corrupt stint

TL:DR: Some of the biggest clubs in Europe just started a new league called "Super League", basically a league they play every week instead of Champions League. UEFA, FIFA + the leagues are pissed and have said that the players will be banned on international and club level. And the clubs will be banned as well. uefa.com/insideuefa/mediaservices/mediar.. "As previously announced by FIFA and the six Confederations, the clubs concerned will be banned from playing in any other competition at domestic, European or world level, and their players could be denied the opportunity to represent their national teams." Its a shitshow right now. Sorry for a long TL:DR but its hard keeping it short lol.

It's an absolute disgrace, I cannot believe the complete disregard for fans, history and culture. It was expected that an attempt to Americanize our sport would inevitably come one day because so many greedy Americans/Asians own the clubs now. I hope the clubs will be hit with the toughest sanctions possible. Suspension from national leagues, prohibit players from playing on the national team etc. No sanction is hard enough, imo. Then they can enjoy playing one game a week in a closed tournament with absolutely nothing on the line, and no fans on the stadiums.
2021-04-19 12:07
Fuck sake, I feel sorry for all the clubs of smaller competitions, the persons behind these clubs have a really big heart for the supporters and the fans, however their dreams get crushed by the greed of the massive clubs. Never again the chance for clubs of smaller competitions to play against the big guys..

Well, it is all about business, but now with no cover. EPL can't kick their teams, they will just lose eveything and I guess its the same for the rest of top leagues. UCL is over too, why would anyone watch Champions league without Champions? I agree that Super League organisers should review their rules and let contenders in and fkin remove this "15 untouched teams" rule, but otherwise I would watch this league instead of UCL. Why not, after all? Is it bad for small teams? Yes. Are big bois got too greedy? Yes, for sure. But it can be a good for getting some progress into football and UEFA themselves. FFP proposed by UEFA bosses is a bullshit clearly. Format of UCL should be reviewed too. So lets consider it a restructuring of a European football as a thing and wait to see what happens.
