I actually don't care for it anyways. I'd rather watch Ajax Tottenham in a semifinal then watch Real Madrid - United in both groupstage and Quarterfinal. Closed leagues are really the worst idea, it gives nothing to the sport. There's no excitement in it. It'snt football.

btw the league isnt completely closed. In their press release they said 15 clubs will be 100% in and 5 can qualify. for the last part that is just incorrect. There is still excitement, but the difference is open leagues of course make it so any billionaire arab owner can buy a team and take it to the top. btw UEFA had their own super league in mind which would have been just as bad or worse than this.

It's closed in the aspect that teams can't drop out of the league. Therefor giving some clubs a higher status then all others, making the competition everything but a fair competition. The excitement part is all about teams always being at the risk of performing badly, who cares if a team is bad for 2-3 years in that league, they would always have a chance of bouncing back. But f.e. in the PL there is a whole other story with a team like Leeds once being a powerhouse but then falling out, dropping of and now have the possibility of comming back to reclaim the throne. UEFAs super league sure would make things worse then they are today, but not at all as bad as this European Super league, since it wouldn't directly benefit some club more then others. Leicester could still take Uniteds spot, and so could Leeds or Nottingham forest.

just because a team has the small chance that they can take another's spot doesnt mean they will. I mean in the premier league/ la liga/ serie A those teams will always be winning and never get relegated (unless huge matchfixing scandal). The Leeds story is an old case of an older time where owners werent billionaires and financial mismanagement actually had effects on clubs.

And Leicester f.e.? AC Milan Arsenal missing out on the CL for about alot of years in a row while Leicester gets it instead. Even Chelsea who is run buy one of those Billionaires have missed out. It doesn't need to happen everyyear, aslong as it happens occassionally. Ajax played the semi of CL 2 years ago, Monaco 4 years ago (i think). That wont happen anymore. The Super League is a selfish league for those clubs and the supporters in those clubs giving a big FU to all other clubs and fans. Only thinking about their own interest. And I'm a Liverpool fan, not going to follow them anymore though.

oh yeah idk why I was thinking of the new CL system UEFA wanted with club coefficients where it was difficult to get in and replace teams mb mb. yeah I do agree underdog runs will be far rarer, but way more profitable if it happens. I do want to see the finished system. As much as I wish we kept it the old way and improved the CL format, it felt an inevitability that this would happen D:

TL EG are the last big orgs that are spending in NA. look at the NA scene now compared to beginning of 2020. Level was just way higher but now all the match fixers left and some more pros who gave up on csgo. Chaos could have been a legit top 10 team in the world, but sadly the Chaos org just let their gem of a roster go to waste

yea maybe ur right but my point was valorant haven't killed cs yet and prob won't be able to kill in the future. it's very easy for volvo to make ppl play cs again right? change some maps, add some odd knifes, nerf-buff a gun etc. they released an update in every week when the valorant first came out. they can do it again. and as the football dies, big clubs will invest more in e-sports i think.

cs will never die, but it can become like starcraft (loyal fanbase with a esport with small prizepool all controlled by ESL + maybe like 1-2 tournaments with blast). I think Valve need to do like 4 things: 1. Promote the esports way more as its literally free marketing and far better to engage the audience. They should make the stockholm major like a TI and I KNOW csgo players will make the prizepool INSANE like 50 million dollars insane. plus make the esports more profitable for teams rather than them losing 1-2 million a year (maybe add team themed skins idk) 2. fix the economy. too many games are artificially close (like rn most games will go 16-12+ even when a team destroys another team) and deagle 2 shot + galil are way too op right now. 3. bring back cbble and a new map to map pool 4. They need to 5x their efforts into VAC. its the best non invasive (unlike valorant chinese malware) anti-cheat but they really need to step up their game. Also, they shouldnt really rely on further outside investment rather make it possible for the esports org to make all their money here without issue so the scene grows and the 'bubble' when it pops doesnt destroy orgs

also they should put more servers around the world, make optimization better and use social media as effective as riot. they have twitter accounts for every language and that's a huge advertisement. nevermind, i'm playing cs just for that hs sound and animation xd
2021-04-19 04:43

oh yeah I agree they need to use twitter more than just support updates, talking to shit meme accounts, and announcing updates. should be promoting the esports a ton as its literally just free money by bringing player in more. also yes hs very satisfying

thats because no one cared about the scene, valorant put servers and invested in all regions, they even have servers in vietnam. Before when I was in asia they only had singapore server and honk kong and tokyo (valve) Riot is directly involved with those regions, organizing tournaments and etc.

these are facts. i hate that volvo is behaving cs like his adopted child. they have a huge amount of players in turkey but the nearest server to us is in frankfurt. with our shitty internet basis it becomes impossible to have less than 50-60 ping. ur right for all those things but i still think valorant will never replace cs. reasons are in #38

yes man. There are some delusional people here. Of course CS won't die but it wont be as big as it could have been if Valve cared and put effort in the game. There are so many regions who were lost already named them. For exampled: Asia is huge (all korean scene moved to valo and japanese too). Lots of people I knew from Asia in CSGO pro moved to valo too, simply dead region and valve doesnt care about it besides minors cs has so many issues and valve still releases community made skins updates lol

In 10 years nobody will care to win or lose, what for? Who cares if you lose if u cant get relegated? Who would care about Real - Barca game if it would be once a month? You wanna see top level football? Why would you bring Spurs or Arsenal there? Its not about competiting on highest level, its about MONEY, simply as that. Why should Arsenal be in "Superleague" if they cant win with Fulham? 30 Years ago top6 were totally different, even now "big six" isnt a top6 anymore. Why Spurs? They won nothing. Wanna watch top level football? Just watch top5 leagues, thats it. Anyone can lose or win, Leicester is the greatest example of it.

2021-04-19 14:07
who car relegation, it will be groups in swiss and playoffs, its like nba in football and I love the way the nba is, football always pissed me off with its retarded system where Juventus wins league for like 9 years Barca won it like 9/12 times, dont get me started on bundesliga and ligue 1 which becomes competitive once every 10 years, then the CL group stage getting dragged out which nobody cares about until like quarter finals football is completley boring, just let me watch the top teams play every few weeks and im fine, football as it is is boring if you arent from the country itself and it isnt your local football club
2021-04-19 12:51

You will achieve nothing in life with that thinking. People want to be the best, they want to win and want to compete. Those 12 teams dont want to win or lose or even compete, they want money. Im not even gonna answer you why would you care about winning a title.. your lack of ambitious is ridiculous XD.
2021-04-19 13:22

? they aint gonna stop winning, they will just play for different title in an elite competition reserved for the biggest brands in football, money that would be wasted for 10 man defending teams at the bottom of the PL will go to better teams to spend and then have them fight for the title and an entertaining football league, football was way to bloated anyway and keeping up with 5 big domestic league of which 3 really sucked in addition to a cup and the CL was unnecessary, just let the 15 best teams play each other , achieve a seeding and then let them have playoffs, this equals entertaining football for the neutral football fun, it only sucks for local supporters which are neither you nor me , since bosnia and poland clubs are irelevant

A Super League already exists in European Basketball. I'm not shocked or disappointed about this announcement. UEFA already launch the 3rd cup for next season, a 4th one with only elite clubs will be great too. Of course, you will not see those clubs in the Champions League anymore, which lets the door open to other clubs to win it.
