"Germany's Green party on Monday named its co-chair Annalena Baerbock as their candidate to succeed Angela Merkel, throwing down the gauntlet to the chancellor's conservatives who were locked in increasingly vicious infighting for her crown." Anyway, it's not gonna happen. There is 0 chance for her to become chancellor.

The CDU is done. It's time for the FDP to shine and Lindner to become chancellor.

People who live in cities who know nothing about nature. Talk about irony. Also green parties oppose nuclear energy which is one of the best options currently. They suggested that there should be specific fields for birds to feed on so they don't ruin the crop (farmers want to shoot the birds). Like a damn bird knows the difference between two fields..... You can't make this up

"People who live in cities who know nothing about nature. Talk about irony. Also green parties oppose nuclear energy which is one of the best options currently." Gröna are the same in Sweden, citypeople whose contact with nature is having a park picnic or going for that 5km walk in the outskirts of their city, these people are the most vocal about saving the environment though their consumering and constant travelling (covid slowed that though) cause "emissions". They want people not living in the cities to stop driving cars because they themselves dont own one. Nuclear power would be the best option but yeaaah problematic

Most people who think nuclear is the solution to our energy question and a fix for climate change are also ignorant

Nuclear is not a fix for climate change, but it is so much better than green energy combined with coal power. Just in Germany there have been an estimated 4000+ deaths associated with increased emissions after they shut down nuclear plants (and built more coal plants). That is about the same amount of deaths as the direct and indirect death toll of Chernobyl, and this is no accident but instead intentional. Next-gen nuclear plants can use old fuel rods for power. They are so efficient that the uranium deposits can power THE PLANET for thousands of years. This should be enough time to develop fusion power. That is the final solution of power generation, not wind turbines...
