What is your honest opinion on Valorant?
Aleksib |
Finland Hook1e
Not gonna lie, I used to be a hater, played in the beta, didn't enjoy, and didn't play since, lately I have been giving Valorant another chance and for the most part it has been really fun. Of course there are still things I don't like that I spotted even in the beta. Still I would say it has been quite fun. Now I want your honest opinion on Valorant, and if you car enough, please go more into details about what you like over cs and what you dislike about it compared to cs.

That is one of the weak points for me as well. Like spraying for example, they lowered the skill ceiling for experienced players by randomizing the spray a lot when you get deep into the spray. I don't think such random shit belongs in a competitive game. Another one for me is the movement, seems a bit too slow which makes Operator on defense so easy because you only need to hold angles and even my grandpa would have the reaction time necessary to click m1

2021-04-21 10:55
It's not a bad game, but the whole time I play all I think is "This is just CS but worse" which is the opinion I still hold. Movement feels worse, guns feel worse, no reason at all to switch unless you are getting a big NA paycheck.

Big orgs will probably leave, old players will stay on the pay check for years, certainly some op heroes will pop up, also CS has lots of sponsors, so it will be hard to find sponsors, apart from asia
2021-04-20 07:25

For cs it's more difficult to find sponsors IMO, since there is not terrorists in valorant.

Thats why they've gone on to change models and maps and stuff. Sure the names of the two sides are terrorist and counter terrorist but like, the maps don't really feel visually realistic, they look far more stylised. Look at maps like inferno, theres a sense of place and a location and whatever but it feels like one giant vibrant paintball arena rather than what it was before it was altered. This movement away from realism and push towards more cartoony/stylised designs is visible when looking at the custom models valve added in. They all look incredibly embellished, over-accentuated or just flat out cartoony.

is it some kind of molotov protest, in the first years of cs go? But the only diffrence is that devs did what the community wanted. Ruining the game mechanics, that is bad

For me the sprays randomness is a bit of deal-breaker with the shooting mechanics and I think it just takes a bit off the skill ceiling with more randomized spray than in cs. Otherwise it feels rather similar to me. But also hitting the head seems easier in Valorant than in cs. I don't know if its placebo or what, but that is how it feels to me.

yeah i can understand you, but im just glad it is actually flourishing, not only is it good for the pros in the regions that are usually not known for fps games, it also gives valve a reason to do something positive for cs, imo good for both games

its just looks like a cringe anime game with graphics for kids, its kinda the same with fortnite - imagine playing some kiddy games. Also the abilities bringing a big skill Factor, but on the other side they completly destroy the raw shooter skills, cuz every noob can kill u while abusing some noob abilities.

I don't want to judge a game by it's theme/graphical design choices. I would rather judge a game by how the game plays. And for what comes to the abilities, yes it is skill but more importantly it's a huge balancing act for the devs, if riot stays on top of the abilities, I got no problem with that.

Well i would never care about a game that looks like this weeb shit, i am still ashamed because i playd S4L some weeks back in the days when i were young. Depends on the look u get, otherwise u can just say if they go with ther LoL politics, they just bring out a new char, so everone buy/plays and abuses it and after some weeks its getting nerfed and totally useless. This is what happens when someone else is creating a meta and or forcing u to play smth u dont enjoy.
2021-04-20 17:30
It's a riot game after all. Gotta make it viable for casual players.
2021-04-20 08:51
Almost good, but it will always just be worse CS. It has some cool abilities that I think are fun, however Riot doesn’t seem to know the difference between cool abilities and bullshit abilities, and they are adding in more bullshit. It will also never have the community servers or the skin market of CS, which I think is 2/3 of the game. There are 3 very strong elements to CS, while Valo only has 1. Plus the maps in Valo are dog water so

It isnt bad. It has some nice parts. Like the buy system shit tbh. Kinda more variety with the utility i.e abilities. HOWEVER GOD DAMN does your character feel like they weigh more than a fucking cargo ship. You just slug your way through the maps. Its unbearable. Also unless you have a 5 stack then good luck finding a game with even ONE person that talks.

Haven`t played it, don`t care about it.
2021-04-20 08:26
It has some good parts and bad parts that end up not coming out to an overall good whole. Gates are good instead of random spawns, optimized buy system is good. Maps, slow asf movement speed, random spread on guns are all awful. Abilities are... fine? I don't care too much about that part. One thing I know they're gonna end up doing at some point that always pisses me off is they're going to add an LGBTQ+ character and masquerade their sexuality around like it that character's whole personality. Every game with "relatable in-game heroes" does it at some point.
2021-04-20 08:28
1 reply
The gates are good as an idea, but I think the area the gates lock in is too big for my taste. If a similar system was to be implemented into cs, you would lock in the spawn area only, right? Now that is prolly more down to the in my opinion lazy map design. Otherwise I mostly agree with you.

First 2 I agree with to a certain extent, but I find it way easier to hit the head in valorant than in cs, might be placebo, but I do. As a sidenote, do you play cs on 4:3 strethed, because that could be a factor in why you think the characters are slim because you are used to fat models in cs.

I gave it a couple of chances (might give a last one) and found it to be an ok game. It's just the idea of a cs scenario mixed with abilities still seems weird to me. Tbh I don't even use them, only shoot people in the head.

The abilities aren't the problem in my opinion, the movement and map design are. Every map on valorant feels like a different twist on inferno, all the maps are so closed and limited, almost claustrofobic and movement being so slow makes Operator too good.

I don't have a problem with the movement or shooting but I agree with your point on maps, devs should really work on that aspect of the game. I tried using abilities and it was fun actually (Yoru), maybe I didn't like em in the first place because I'm so used to CS, literally my game since 1.5 and also not that big of a moba fan.

2021-04-20 09:28

Valorant runs like a dream , no stutters constant 250+ fps on full hd , insane smoothness while on CS I get on average 120 fps on 1280x720 and the game feels laggy as hell even on higher frames . Thats main reason why I prefer Valorant

It's a freak-game that is trying to combine several different already existing games, all in one. It's perfect for kids just like Fortnite and Call of Duty but I dont think it will ever be a serious esport.
2021-04-20 17:40
shit game, simple would dominate the pro scene
2021-04-20 17:41
I think Valorant is probably more "fun," but CS:GO is better if you want to be sweaty and really try hard. But also in my recent experience, Valorant is somehow way more toxic to the point where it's genuinely not fun, but maybe I've just gotten unlucky about that.
2021-04-20 17:45
I played Valorant for a little cause I was able to move up the ranks much faster but then came back to csgo cause its just better imo
2021-04-20 17:47
Quite a fun alternative to counterstrike, although there are some really integral things missing if they want to develop like good DM, a demo viewer and a match making system that isn’t Brocken. Oh and the maps need to get a little more refined and more need to be added,
2021-04-21 00:00
Played a decent bit around beta/ release fun to play from a casual standpoint but i had more fun in quick play fragging out than playing competetive My only point of interest in the professional scene is the cs pros that i was already a fan of ive watched maybe 2 rounds of pro valorant overall game doesnt really interest me
2021-04-21 00:04
its like cs but much worse in many aspects. 1. movement too slow. peeking etc feels garbage. 2. many agents and more to come. so many abilities flying around, its a mess. 3. not enough recoil, hitboxes too big. aiming feels to easy in this game.

the only reason it has less cheaters is that its a new game. wait 8 years and it will be the same as csgo. thats how it always goes with every fps game.
2021-04-21 08:54
Enjoyable as a casual game but it’s quite toxic compared to csgo. There’s only 2 decent maps, bind and assent but you can’t pick maps so you always end up playing icebox which is an awful map. Movement and shooting mechanics are fine but the op is awful to use. It’s so sluggish compared to awp. The abilities are a bit hit or miss for me, I think there are too many flashes through walls, you can face some team comps where you try and hit site or defend and get flashed for what feels like years.
2021-04-21 00:21
Im not a fan of the game but I played like 5-6 games and it was ok . The game is not bad but the graphics are just not for me
2021-04-21 00:27
I hate rifles because they feel worse than cs but I like to use the operator because it's easier to no scope with. Marshall is also a good gun and the pistols are pretty fun to use other than the shitty frenzy. I don't like the movement in valorant because it feels slow and clunky compared to CS. Some abilities also seem game breaking and I think viper is hidden op.

2021-04-21 09:30
Valorant is a good game. But it’s incomparable to CS. The game is fun with friends and I like the whole strategic side of the game, but the gun play ain’t great, random spray patterns allows for more luck and less skill. The maps are a lot smaller and leave less exciting opportunities within a match, less places to push get a pick etc. Also the movement is absolutely terrible compared to CS, the only positives of this game that it has over CS is their anti-cheat and 128 tick servers, but considering you have this on FACEIT anyways doesn’t change too much for me. There is also less skill in terms of utility, some flashes are undodgeable I prefer the way that you have to learn smokes and ultility yourself in a practice lobby rather than just spamming smokes and flashes and it working out. Valorant is a good game but CS is by far the better and more fun game for me.

Haven't played or followed in some time, some things I mention and elaborate might have changed over time, for better or for worse. Anyway : 1 : slow and cunky movement. Characters feel heavy for some reason, it feels like you are dragging them throughout the map instead of just running. Not satisfying at all and rather annoying. 2 : shooting mechanics are weird. Random sprays instead of a set spray pattern isn't fun or viable in a competitive shooter. 3 : this is rather personal one but I rather enjoy CSGO the most because of how skill based and skill centered it is without any character power BS or any Ults or that sort of thing. The powers in Valorant are not equal to just utilities in CSGO and are in fact more OP and can win you matches alone. Not something I prefer (this is also one of the reason why I disliked Overwatch as well and am a big fan of TF2. Both class shooters but work in different ways) 4 : it suffers from the same problems that MOBAs have i.e too much going on at the same time & it's always gonna be unbalanced in some way because of Agents and their abilities and always gonna get patched every week or month or so. Not a consistent gameplay. 5 : wrong buy, buying for your teammate etc were actually handled pretty nicely and I liked it. 6 : no community servers. CmonBruh Anyway that's my views. I would mention one more thing that personally, I actually sucked at the game alot.

Valorant is a breath of fresh air for regions where Valve didn't care about. My region has finally started embracing PC games solely due to Riot's insane support and there are like tons of tourney coming up everyday. Even if I could hate Valorant, I won't because they are finally caring for small regions where other companies completely ignore.

The main thing I don't like about it, is the fact that it's completely symmetrical. What I mean by this is that both sides have access to the same weapons, same abilities, same everything, whereas in CS, T's have the AK, the Glock, the Galil, the Mac-10, the Krieg. And then the CT's have the M4A4, M4A1-S, USP, Famas, MP9 etc... Even the grenades. T's have Molotov, CT's have a proper Incendiary grenade. It just mixes up the gameplay especially when CT's can get their hands on an AK because then you don't want to lose it. In terms of abilities in Valorant, if Attackers had half of the agents in the game, then Defenders had another half it would make it less boring since fights would be between different agents instead of just Raze vs Raze for example. Plus half of the abilities in the game are just glorified flashbangs. I can't remember the names of the other agents but there must be like 4/5 that have the same ability. The Australian one that has the bird, its just a flashbang. The British guy that can throw them around corners, its just a flashbang. And I know for a fact theres a few others but I honestly can't remember the names. Also, there is no grenade sandbox like there is in CS. You can't do 1 way smokes, or creative pop-flashes, or lineup a mad smoke from spawn and I also hate how the smokes in the game are hollow?? Like why can you see inside the smoke, it makes no sense. I've tried really hard to get into Valorant but I just can't because of its extremely boring, repetitive gameplay.

Molotov and incendiary grenade are the same. I think molotov was doing slightly more damage, but it has been patched surely. You can do 1 way smokes, pop flashes. There are only 3-4 characters with "glorified flashbangs", others have more interesting flashes. Having the same access to weapons doesn't matter here since Phantom and Vandal have upsides and downsides, and it's pretty fair. it's not like in CS where the AK is just better and if CTs had access to it it would be op.

very boring game

Hate: random sprays. I hate that the sprays are random after a certain point. It makes it really annoying to co troll at times and can make you feel inconsistent. Like: I like the pace of the game. It's a lot faster paced with the abilities and stuff. You can do some really cool things with it. Another point I want to add is it's changing meta. Because of the large amounts of updates and changes, the meta is changing constantly. So, there are bound to be characters that are "over-tuned" or under used. For example, the current viper stuff I really don't enjoy. Ngl, I think I'm better at valorant. Getting pretty close to top 500 lmao. Doubt I'll reach it though.

It's fun, it's not cs no but it's fun and a pretty decent game, I think were it to be released and cs didn't exist all the people slating it here would probably be loving it, so it can't be that bad, people are just weirdly defensive when comparing anything with their precious cs.

I'm a cs fan so naturally I hate valorant 😎😎

If they nerf most of the abilities and make the gameplay more dependent on aiming and shooting could be decent, but in current state it is barely a shooter and more like spamming some shitty anime spells like teleportation and explosions

Very nice game, I played a lot recently, what is your rank? The biggest + for me is rank system taken from LoL, its massive gap between CS and Valorant. Anti-cheat ++ development potential + I think its still a fresh game, but they have already stable players base. Im waiting like a 2-5 seconds for game in diamond so I think its nice.

I'll put in a couple dozen hours if the cs pro scene dies cuz I like watching pro games and I wanna be able to appreciate nice plays, otherwise I'll probably never try it
2021-04-21 17:43
Shoothing mechanica skins, pros, maps, streams, tournaments literally all just better. Also you can use the. Est platform and its steam
2021-04-21 17:47
It is fun, I enjoy playing as the agent "Breach" because it fits my play style and those flashpoints are really strong. I need to work on my aim though...
2021-04-21 17:48
Have watched it a few times briefly, didn't catch my interest at all. It looked like anime cs in worse and I saw no reason to try to understand it. CS isn't going to die.

I mean... There’s still Quake Champions tournaments so lol. CS never will die. It’s international appeal might get smaller. Quake!!!!!! twitch.tv/videos/975084174

precisely. even if it got smaller and in a few years we'd be stuck in some warcraft III type dystopian nightmare, it would still be there. and i really doubt it would ever get this small. and tbh rn i even think the crying ppl saying its gonna die are overblowing it so much lol, the playerbase is huge. and just bcs a few NA orgs pulled out and the overall pro scene isnt as healthy as it was before a global pandemic hit... like cry me a river lol i dont give a fuck if some player makes 40k a month or 20k.
2021-04-21 18:44
It's fun but the game isn't as smooth as counterstrike in terms of mechanics. Also it's hard to balance everything because of all the different abilities.
2021-04-21 17:51
shit game tbh played in beta, it wa sok for a week then closed it, killed the playerbase another characters and maps are just lulz hated that abilities are used to instead of nades and are bound to certain characters, thats appealing maybe to lol players +the graphics fucking suck
2021-04-22 19:06
I saw some game play videos shortty after the release and never plan to watch/play any of that shit again.

A bit clunkier than CS in terms of the movement and guns and some ultimates feel cheap, but not having a spinbot every third game is actually quite nice ngl
2021-04-22 19:09
SHIT, they tried to make an fps game out of LoL, just go play LoL
2021-04-22 19:14
It's just so slow that it annoys me. Also maps are weird as hell.
2021-04-22 19:12
It doesn't appeal to me But people do seem to enjoy it and in a lot of way it seems like a pretty decent game that gets an active support from Riot It's sad that how some of the orgs and other players are just abandoning cs go right now like it's some kind of cancer
