CSGO laggy on 4:3 resolutions but smooth on 16:9 and 16:10
 |
Romania fordawiN
Anyone else having this issue? 16:9 and 16:10 resolutions are way smoother than any 4:3 resolution. CPU is Ryzen 5 3600, fps capped at 400.

I think there is a glitch if you have over 200 or 300 fps , the game will have stutters

If that was a thing then all the pros would be complaining about this 24/7

yeah this doesn't happen when I play at internet cafe for example
2021-04-20 18:10
No, it's laggy if the game is running on over 1000fps. A limitation of Source engine.

so how does it happen if you use fpx_max? is the command broken?
2021-04-20 18:51

the command works with a number after the command fps_max "x" i never use fps_max only.. when i had the 3770k i used to go with fps_max 0 but after i upgrade and when im playing mirage it sometimes go over 999 and stutter starts so i use 999

yes, I also checked with mat_info I can also feel those 240 hz's when running 16:9 and 16:10 resolutions, it's something related to 4:3 and I can't understand what

I played 4:3 for over a year. At beginning it was ok but after some time I was getting worse and worse, missing ez AWP shots, sprays, etc. Thought was just getting old or something. Switched back to 1920x1080 16:9 and my skill suddenly came back. And the game actually looks decent, doesn't hurt my eyes.

it's not blind following, some of us just can't play other resolutions. and this is a huge disadvantage since 16:9 is actually smooth for me.

I'm used to 1024x768 and its bluriness. It helps me concentrate If I don't see too many details around me. The crosshairs look way better on 4:3 in my opinion and also the bigger player models feel like everything is easier to kill.

Makes sense. Also bigger models meh, after some time I stopped noticing it + everything else is bigger + they seem to move fast as fuck compared to 16;9

Maybe I'll also get used to it. But I also want to know why the hell I have screen tearing on 4:3 resolutions. Even a low resolution like 1280x800 16:10 runs smooth. The issue is with the 4:3 ones

I won't send you cuz I don't remember it. It was vacced over 13 years ago, after some time I just forgot about it, have new account which is 10 year old but I haven't played not even 100 hours of 1.6 I think. But I did play 1.6/condition zero on that old acc. I even played 1.5 in cafés before steam was even a thing

CSS came out when I was still a kid, just liked it more. I know it's easier and a lot of people from 1.6 disliked it. Right now it's mostly nostalgia but I just like it more. I guess it would be fun to play 1.6 mixes or something but it would be also difficult to juggle between 1.6, CSS and Csgo and keep my skill

I switched from 4:3 to 16:10 in 2007 or so, so switching back to 16:10 could work even better. Was like 2017 when I switched to 16:9

I'm playing good on 1280x800 16:10, maybe try this one. Since you're also getting older I feel like lower resolutions would suit you better. Bigger models and way better looking crosshairs can be a game changer.
2021-04-20 18:49
No no not impossible, I'm a bit old and use 4:3 but for a long while I used 16:9, its hard in like the first week but after that its gets pretty good.

Try to set the fps to be synced with your monitor's refresh rate, maybe try v-sync and try stretched and black bars for a difference. Maybe update your drivers?

Tried everything in the list. Black bars is way smoother than stretched but then again it starts looking like a 16:10 or 16:9 resolution.

don't cap 400 with this processor, cap 200 or 250 fps_max (next try to see if there are drivers for GPU) - often checking it in Nvidia Experience. Try to disable few options in game and check if they are colliding and causing you to lag. If you have monitor NVIDIA gsync or amd sync check the settings if you disabled it.

Trust me I tried every tweak out there. I even changed my whole hardware. The only thing I didn't try was an Intel CPU instead of AMD. Some say it might be related to ground electricity affecting PC performance, but those people are affected on all resolutions, so I hope it's not the electricity for me
