CS:GO Dev (designer) Interview
Spain Sneakers
graph.org/qnawithbabbar-en-04-20 With Gautam Babbar, CS:GO Designer. Mostly all of the questions are on the community related stuff and communication he mentions in the interview i linked, that they are aware of the feedback they get from the players, and they prefer not to act on the emotional (like the R6 Weapon update) part of the hate or do rollbacks and instead review the stats and players after a few days and act on that. Nothing on the front of new updates, or future CS:GO. Only part of the updates is they try to stretch it so players can enjoy the content updates, like the OP, and not overwhelm us with big updates too fast. Also they are aware of the Esports scene and try not to change the meta when there is big tournaments, Majors.. So.. there is still chance to have meta changes (aka, map pool, new weapon, or something)

almost all games that are so long, will have a spaghetti code, apparently Valve devs know how to handle it a this stage xD

I don't care about other games, since the beggining cs was unique so this is my expectation They don't know how to handle it very well, there are bugs that they can't fix, and every little tasks takes a LONG time. It's also bad for innovation.

yeah, everything takes longer time, and if they fix one bug it might be they break 3 other things because of this.. i would also like if it was better (but it doesnt effect me, or almost anyone.. tbh) they cannot make a new CS either.. Cuz it would split the community (they cannot do this now, its just dumb if they did) and Source 2 CS:GO is unknown.. I dream of CS:GO next gen, but i dont know anymore.

it does affect everybody imo. I'm no expert but it's clear to me valorant hitreg works better than counter-strike. Same for AC. Why you think the community would be slipt? They can port skins..
2021-04-22 00:03
you definitely know enough about coding to judge it hahaha

you think he's wrong? it's been admitted by valve devs multiple times. use google

he doesn't need to be an expert to parrot what the apropriate experts have said themselves about this matter. and I'm sure he can at least understand some of the consequences, even without knowing how to code. same goes for me, except I know some coding (but far from an expert)

its interesting, but there is nothing new, i think most of people kinda thought of Valve like this already, they are watching all the time, just silently. Would of been more interesting like a Source 2 question for example.. xD

It would be very interesting to talk about Source 2 for sure mens!

There is no need to add new weapons and make drastic changes in weapon balance (only slightly nerf deagle body spam). Although at least 1 change in map pool is necessary as the last one has been 2 years ago.

Yeah, there is actually a chance there is map pool changes. Its been so long, so i think it would make perfect sense. New weapons i agree, just buff the m4a1s and a slightly deagle nerf would be ok. But u never know if they could add one.

As for new weapons, I think Valve could delete the autosnipers and replace them with semi-auto battle rifles (similar to the Guardian in Valorant). G3SG1 could be replaced by a regular G3 and Scar-20 could be replaced by Scar-H (yes, yes, I know those weapons are full auto irl). Porting skins wouldn't be hard because their shapes are very similar.

Ay dude thx for tldr!
2021-04-21 23:14
their content absolute shit, even operation is trash, they even added same missions on multiple weeks, imagine their lazyness

I want to see a cs dev commenting about VALORANT coming hard

“coming hard” ????

yes, very hard actually. their penetration into juvenile markets is much better than csgo right now if nothing changes, within a few years you will have very little new people coming into csgo and will become something boring like golf or sumthig

golf isnt boring and I would say that a maturing of an audience is a good thing cause playing with 12 year olds is garbage

maturing is not bad. but a lot of maturing players will stop playing, or play a lot less. you have to replace them with new players, otherwise your game is not sustainable from a business pov. there will be a very noticeable decrease in skill overall aswell.

But i would like to be overwhelmed of updates

Same xD But I can understand what they mean not to have way too many updates that the game loses it's point, some games like fortnite had this problem tho
2021-04-21 23:40

the date, i think is 30th of April, when OP "officially" ends, and gets deleted from the game. That day something "might" happen.. dont put any hope tho. Cuz then the fall is too big xD

Yea we might see another case :D

I mean already great to see an actual human living breathing person from valve talking cs but like you can clearly see that it's millennias away from modern devs ,or just communication , how can u read feedback for everything ?must take WAY too long.Either way, happy that somebody actually works on the game
2021-04-21 23:57

same, i do like when they talk openly, and make comments. But CS:GO community is way too toxic as well to be so openly on the forums, or socials. They rather be silent and check the data, which i respect. Also its true most modern devs nowadays stream on twitch, tweet constantly feedback, keep constant updates on whats happening, etc.. but Valve is kinda "unique" with their methods, i respect it, cuz if u announce Source 2 for example for Next May, and then u have to delay it for 1 year or 2, then community would lose their shit understandably. btw there is more people working on the game, its probably not 4 devs lol, i think most dont like the "exposure" at all.

really like that Valve doesnt crunch their employees to release an update every week

Same, it's nowhere near Warzone which the dev's are forced to make unplayable at least once a month.

valve doesn't care about their auditory, they care only about money
2021-04-22 00:24
I mean is hard to make changes in a game that what matters is just the competitive, one thing that they change without enough discussion may break the competitive (remember what lowering the price of SG did)? Also what incentive does valve have for bringing updates? Without it they still reach incredible quantity of active players per day.
