Probably, I mean saying they were just lucky and that's why they were so good, It's just so stupid and wrong, what happened in Astralis for him to say that?

i assume he doesnt want to go into it as a cocky guy, so he's like i'm not someone who can fix all your problems instead of: I've won a lot of tournaments i know how to play in the current meta

I understood is as, dev1ce: "your practicing is so much better than what we did. We were lucky that we were able to become so good, with not as good practicing".

I really understood it more like #2, he doesn't want to be cocky. Don't get me wrong, it was badly expressed, but I don't think he meant to take a Dig at the Astralis camp. He focused on introducing himself to his new teammates, not that there were a camera there to pick up everything he said. Enough with the drama.

+1 He has always been humble, so it's just not in his nature to say stuff like #21
2021-04-26 21:07
Pretty sure he meant that they were lucky because they were the first team to realize the new meta which gave them a clear advantage while every other team was trying to adapt.
2021-04-26 14:21
When I saw the vlog and that part in particular I was shocked bruh. Like the 4 majors and era were all because of lucky timing and abusing the meta. And then saying NIP are 5 steps ahead of Astralis in terms of practice lol, feel bad for Gla1ve putting in all that work in practice and preparation. Didn't expect this from him at all.

Im sure that they all undurstand that he made this comment just to be humble and stay low key, even thoe he went way too far I don't even belive that the NiP players belived him

No true and I get he wants to appear humble and fit in the team, I even understand if he wants to say something about Astralis as an org, but to Gla1ve and Zonic this was unnecessary. Like Astralis even invented the meta lol, the other teams followed them afterwards. The fact Zonic and Gla1ve also saw it like that, looking at the likes, is very sad..

Mads Duelunds tweeet (rougly translated): Nikolaj (device) is forgetting his own narrative. Where is no coherience in his statements and the things they (astralis) achieved together and the way they achieved them. Puke before big events, stress due to traveling, and big pressure from the world... 4 majors. "Luck" in the timing around the meta? It wasnt luck try skilled

I have a hunch the NiP video put dev1ces comments in a poor context, he was very likely talking about the situation in context with the pandemic, and that Astralis had really pulled back their effort during the crisis. And he was telling them that NiPs process was more thorough and pedantic. but this is only my theory, it's possible Astralis we're just a loose cannon that hit a lot of lucky targets 3 majors in a row.

My theory is that astralis after 2019 in 2020 started to get into slump and had not been really keen on practicing so they just slowed their process of doing it. When Online Era came they were not sure anymore how to do this especially that everyone is so far away and spends their time with family, so they continued practicing online. Then gla1ve and xyp gets free for 3months, they come with fresh ideas so they decide to bootcamp and uttilize es3tag making an EPL run. When it came to Blast gla1ve finally was again IGL not Magisk they required additional time, and spend it poorly or required something from org that was not provided in time like additional tools for the practice. Then they shit on others and win last tourney of 2020 IEM Global Challange. Starting 2021 Astralis took break tried new things but unfortunately the story comes that they fail at everything and its not their fault. Now Organisation is basically getting nervous and so do players. That pushes both to make a move, yet they still stand 5players in same lineup. At the end no player is comfortable in astralis, device makes a move and decides to take other step to NIP quietly asking Astralis org to contact after few analysed matches. Astralis happily agrees as they do require money. They make contact few days later device joins NIP unhappy with the recent results in Astralis.

yeah, i agree with alot of the predictions you make here, its evident dev1ce is disappointed. I'm actually pretty exited and optimistic with his move to NiP, i think people are unfairly scrutinizing them, i can see this line-up sitting comfortably in the top 5.

ye love a team that forces their players to get doctors orders to let them have time off due to the regime they impose also love a team that asked people to cut their paychecks cos of their financial mismanagement also love a team that keeps one of the most promising players in the Danish scene on the bench despite constantly claiming it was a rotating 6+ man rosters (don't get me started on Jugi and Snappii lmao) also love a team that cynically sold dev1ce as if they waited until after the major they wouldn't get a dime as he would be out of contract

Feel bad that he said this tbh something must've happened for him to say this
2021-04-26 13:59
Don't treat your players like shit and they won't come out and slate the ORG, Astralis is a shitty ORG, everyone knows that, apart from Danes who don't know anything remotely worth caring about
2021-04-26 14:05
I think people take it out of context, he doesn't simply say they were lucky and that's it, he said that they worked on specifics stuff that happened to counter the meta and were lucky on these timings. Remember how many events they skipped? Imagine they were training hard to fall behind the metas? I don't see what he said as brutal or whatever. They approached the game differently when they were dominant and were lucky it was countering the metas really hard. Not lucky like "hehe we won game purely on luck". No they were ahead because they gambled on playing the game differently which is in itself "lucky".
2021-04-26 14:10
Who tf doesn't consider them lucky?? Cs evolves every year, if you took 2018 Astralis and tried to bring them to 2021 of course they wouldn't win as many tournaments as they used to...

Because its online lol.
2021-04-26 14:18
Of course not, 2021 CS is partly built upon copying the best tactical approaches and practice routines of 2018 astralis to other teams. So it's kind of a silly discussion. As CS had not been what it is today, if it wasn't for astralis. utility usage and fakes has evolved greatly this year, more than anything as I see it. Astralis were once the master in these fields. But something got stuck along the line, and they didn't keep up with the evolution they initiated themselves.
2021-04-26 14:25
but it feels more like an individual problem, dont tell me 2018/2019 magisk, gla1ve, xyp9x are the same of 2020 and 2019 especially magisk and xyp ?

Just stop with the drama! It's clear he just wanted to not come in all bossy with his new teammates and didn't intend to take a dig at the astralis camp. This is professional CSGO not Big Brother

I also think he aims at blending as easily into the team as what you would expect from a Swede. He is kind of a Swede now. His passport says Danish, but everything else says Swedish. I understand him 100%. But it's just going to hit danish CS.GO hard. The dream of joining the "all inspiring Astralis" will be no more, which will undeniably make the talent pool smaller. They will diminish from the front pages. My hope is Cadian and Heroic. Cadian's positive spirit is why I picked him for flair. Passion spreading leaders are the best.

Yea, Cadian is for sure the leader the danish scene needs. I really wouldn't worry too much cause there's already so much talent in the scene. But yea, I hope Astralis will still be a t1 competitive roster. We will see what changes they make.

They need reinvention, that is certain. The question is if the current roster can do it. I think they will try to use bubzkji with increased freedom. The other players have routine as a pack, and can adapt to his plays/misplays better than he adapt to theirs. This is his chance, I hope they give it to him.

let the man be honest NIP org > Astralis org
2021-04-26 15:00
to be completely honest, this is a major fuck up on the comms side by NiP. A comms person should've never left that part in as it does no good. I think Devve just tried to be humble and didn't think about the cameras or consequenses. But NiPs comms department leaves a lot to wish for...
