Wired or Wireless?
South Africa LustedSilli - HLTV.org
I saw Razer announcing its new Orochi V2 wireless mouse and it got me thinking? Do you prefer wireless or wired for your mouse and keyboard setup playing CS:GO? For me, it has always been the wired option. Not sure exactly why but maybe it has to do with bad experiences with wireless products like over a decade ago. So, wired or wireless for you and why?

Topics are hidden when running Sport mode.
Wired 100% but probably since i've used random 5€ wireless mouses that have a high latency so i dont really trust wireless and then the fact that you need to charge it

Yeh the idea of charging it does sit at the back of my mind. Apparently some mice can last like hundreds of hours, but still worried after a while it might require more charges

g pro last like more than 100hours and charging takes 20min its good

g pro's battery life is 48 hours, i have had the mouse for 2 years But you can use it for a week or even more without charging since it turns off when not used and it doesn't use any battery. And charging is really fast yeah, can recommend it to everyone

I just have a mouse with really light cable so it doesn't bother me at all. Maybe when my current mouse breaks I'll get a wireless one. As for keyboards, I don't really see any good reason to have a wireless one

I dont see the point of having a wireless keyboard either. But a mouse would be nice. The new ones , from Logitech lets say, are really good. I have a Zowie EC2-A , its already 5yo + , my next one will definetly be a wireless one.
2021-04-28 09:32
i dont see the point of a wireless keyboard either. As for a mouse, it's perfect for me. I don't have a lot of space for wires and it seems to have no noticeable extra delay
2021-04-28 09:46
i haven't played with wireless mouse nor keyboard yet but i think it would be nice. i have the same thing as you that i haven't tried one because it just feels more natural to get a wired one. i think it would be nice to try a wireless mouse one day since they are probably really good with the latest technology
2021-04-28 09:18
I recently bought a wireless mouse and i think i can never go back to wired

If you get a gaming wireless mouse, there should be no latency. If you get a MX3, for example, there will be. Here's a good video by Linus Tech Tips, covering some Logitech mice and testing them. youtube.com/watch?v=orhb7Njj3h8

Wireless is better obviously but I prefer wired (if its one of the new good cables only!!!) cause no work with charging and its way cheaper. Also slightly lighter

I personally prefer a heavy mouse, always put in some weights even if the mouse allows it
2021-04-28 13:15
I recently switched to a wireless mouse (G pro) after 15 years of wired mice and I can't understand I ever played with a wired mouse tbh. Would really recommend.
2021-04-28 09:26
wireless of course, movement feels so free without that annoying cable dragging across the table I can say I got 10% better at cs after upgrading from wired to wireless one, I can dm for hours now the problem is, there is no good wireless mice out there, superlight is too expensive and has shit clicks , viper ultimate too expensive and has side buttons on the right ( like wtf ) I found fantech xd3 helios for 50 bucks and it's the best mouse I've ever had, just go for it edit: btw don't buy g305, just don't

New Razer one is 70$ if I'm not mistaken, Glorious Model O ~80$ and than you have Pwnage that let's you customize the mice to your taste (and I guess it's the same shape as the Zowie EC2)

I like my mouse small, model o is too big, there is no pwnage in my country so I wouldn't know fantech helios is s2 zowie clone, best shape imo

The thing I'm most impressed is it having the option to run on a AA or AAA battery. And the diagonal orientation might help with the feel of the mice. Didn't check the overall weight tho.

g305 is the worst mouse I've ever had, shit built quality- nothing like g203, dull clicks with those omron switches ... so bad and it's not just 1 copy I like smaller mice but have nothing against razer ultimate, except for the fact that it has side buttons on the right and costs 200$

Not my experience at all. Clicks are actually the best part of my g305, super crisp. Im pretty sure I remember watching a review praising the clicks as well. As for viper, you can get a used but like new for like 85 euros on amazon. I got one for 92 with 7 euro shpping and charging dock included (not like new but good condition)

I have both g305 and g203, g203 still rocks and clicks feel tactile and satisfying, I love it. g305 on the other hand just sucks.. Still asking myself why couldn't they make g203 wireless instead. But I'm happy with my fantech xd3 helios so I don't even care about logitech mice anymore

Wireless keyboard and wireless mice rely on batteries I know people who used wireless only for it to die on them in a critical gaming moment. In comparison I've used a wired mouse and wired keyboard. For Mice I've used about 3 in the past 12 years and I've used the same keyboard for at least 12 years. Another example is look at ethernet compared to wifi. Connection is more stable.

it never happened to me personally with my G305 but i know it happened to s1mple but he had the gpro wireless with lower battery life, but you are right it could happen, but the g305 and i think the g pro warns u if you have low battery life so you change the battery or charge it so something like that doesn't happen. but wireless keyboards are stupid imo

20 min charge for 2 weeks of play
2021-04-28 10:23
I charge my G Pro Wireless every 3 weeks and it only takes like 30 minutes. So, battery life shouldn't be a problem for normal person.
2021-04-28 11:31
I charge my g pro superlight every 2 weeks for 20min. also the led turns red at low battery so it won't die on me.

Yeah but battery does get weaker over time though it's similar to a phone battery especially if you have batteries that can recharge.

If you paracord the mouse it basically feels the same as wireless, the most important thing about a mouse is the shape imo, saying this after coming from a wireless mouse (G305) to now paracorded Zowie S2

+1 I have had so many mice in the last year and finally settled with a fk2 paracorded. I would also add that the shell material is important and its why zowie feels so good. I might try ducky feather soon since its a lighter fk2

Wireless headset rocks but when it comes to mouse, they can be really good. I had a logitech g700, was good ingame and responded great. Only problem I had with it was it's high, since I rest my wrist on the mouse pad. The mouse forced it to have a step angle, this in the long run hurt my wrist. I went back to wired, but that was mostly since I wanted my old Deathadder back.

I've been using my G703 a bit over a year, I wouldn't go back. I use it 10-12 hours a day, and it can go for 5-6 days without needing to charge. If I need to, I just plug it up and charge it for tops 2 hours, not a big sacrifice to be honest. I used a Zowie for 6 years, and i loved that mouse, but wouldn't go back to wired, that's for sure.
2021-04-28 09:47
Wiredless.
2021-04-28 09:47
wired is better....you can pick up and smash wireless mouse by throwing it whenever you want.
2021-04-28 09:53
If there's not connectivity problems - wireless any day of the week. But not razer though
2021-04-28 09:55
used to play wired, but recenty 've bought wireless and its SO MUCH better, u can use the whole surface of ur mousepad, u have crisper moves and aim.
2021-04-28 09:55
I'm currently going full wireless (except audio) in CS, with Razer Basilisk X Hyperspeed for a mouse and Logitech's G915 TKL as a keyboard. Latency-wise, there's no perceivable delay when using either of them, with both lasting at least a couple of days before I need to plug the device in (or change the AA battery for the mouse). I can safely say I prefer wireless mice for CS, although the difference between a wireless one or a wired one with a good bungee is smaller than you might think. Still noticable tho. With that being said, I prefer my wired mouse for most other games, but that is mostly a comfort thing rather than anything else

g915 tkl good for cs? was thinking about buying it
2021-04-28 09:57

I love it, but to be frank it's complete overkill for CS. I've been eyeing it for some time before and I really wanted a low-profile mechanical keyboard. I'm a software developer so I type quite a bit and low-profile keyboards are easier on the wrists, but mechanical switches just feel too good. And since I quite enjoyed the G613 and G Pro keyboards before this, I went the easy route and stayed with Logitech. Still waited for a sale though, the full price is a bit hard to justify If you don't need a wireless one or TKL, there's also the G815, which should be a bit cheaper
2021-04-28 11:03
Wired, it's primarily a weight thing with the mouse for me.
2021-04-28 10:02
for the longest time i was sceptical about wireless mice. i thought that it's impossible to make them as fast as wired, even if were talking only about 1-2ms difference. i bought my first wireless mouse in g703 maybe 3 years ago and i can't look back. i don't notice any difference in latency. the battery lasts for a long time, i have to recharge maybe once a week or two weeks. when i'm charging it with the cable it's difficult to play as i've used to the cordless feel, but i guess actual wired mice are built better for that purpose. one thing that worries me tho is that there is not a single test done on wireless/wired mouse where they compare exactly the same model. it's always brand A model X comapred to brand B model Y, so it's impossible to see how much latency there is only with the wireless technology. that being said, i'm very satisfied with my g703
