WINDOWS UPDATE HELP/CORRUPTION
suicide |

hello mens) so for context windows 10 has been trying to get me to update to i believe version 2004 but ive have been avoiding it since i have heard it causes lagginess on the pc for some people and because i just could not be bothered so i restarted pc to install, it got stuck on 0% during 'configurating update' but then it updated and restarted all good, until the pc turned on, keyboard and mouse lit up but my monitor was detecting anything, so i turned pc on and off. I turned it back on and went back in, all good, but windows told me that some installations failed, mostly minor things from what i could tell in the logs. so i try to play squad but i get an easy anti cheat error 30004 which means it has detected corrupted windows installation, so i did some research and ran i think DISM.exe in the command prompt, let it finish then restarted, tried again and same error, but maybe i entered scannow command wrong idk. hope this makes sense and any help appreciated im also at school rn and dont have access to pc so i will say what happened after i try some suggestions thank you

Topics are hidden when running Sport mode.
so you cant open your PC anymore? Or you cant play csgo because the anti-cheat aint working? btw easiest fix is to just reinstall windows.

if your windows is on a different SSD to all your other shit you should be fine. you would only have to reinstall the stuff on that same SSD I believe. but yeah you should just fresh install windows.

I have windows pro and i was able to revert back to a previous version of windows 10. You don't need to reinstall.

if you actually reinstall yeah. You will want to just move anything important off the main drive. I oftentimes just unplug my second drives which have everything important (and no windows stuff) and just wipe main drive.

For me the new windows update seems to fuck up my visuals and my audio. My audio sounds like I'm in a huge empty hangar and my colors get a lot lighter in color. I've reverted it twice now and it's fine so leads me to believe that it is not a hardware issue, maybe some incompatibility issue with some software I have on my PC.

You should try reinstalling your Audio drivers. The last time I did a fresh reinstall, the audio driver or some component of it was glitching out and led to the sound you're describing here. A driver reinstall fixed the issue. Not sure what's going on with the color situation. That was not a issue I encountered.

That is also another talking point because I full reinstalled graphics drivers when it was happening so after I didn't bother even to reinstall audio drivers because I figured it would end up the same. Keep in mind, after reverting all my stuff was fine.

Huh. That's interesting. Windows updates definitely have a history of messing up PCs so wouldn't be surprised if this was a simple setting/driver corruption.

Could be, next time I try to update I might just update and reset my PC, move all my applications and stuff to another drive so I don't lose them.

Better wait a while before installing new versions. Stick to stable supported versions until their crap is fixed. (For next time that is) Though yes at this point, a fresh install will definitely be faster.

Not liking this Windows version. About 50% of the time Windows just doesn't start. I happen to have a 4TB WD Black on its way to me so I'll back shit up and reinstall soon.

Same thing happened to my Laptop's Windows in December. I tried literally every hack and tip there is, but I HAD to buy a SSD and do a fresh installation of Windows.

Tbh it wasn't the worst thing. I was going to eventually buy a SSD anyway and this just gave me an excuse to buy one. The only sad part was the data loss. I thought I had everything backed up but I lost a couple of very important folders that were a PAIN to recover. Some files were gone forever.

update: just tried system restore point and everything else is running smoothly except for the games i actually wanna play my windows is fucked, gonna have to reinstall, how do i keep my files etc?
2021-05-06 09:22
Probably you have windows update corrupted database. If you have the 2004 version, just update to 20H2 and download the update manually which will fix everything up. microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/wi.. Make sure you also have your motherboard's BIOS updated
