Your favorite bands/artists

Hello mens)) Time for another music thread, but this time I just wanted to ask you about your favorite bands and artists! You can write down as many as you want and a backstory or a small explanation as of why would also be pretty nice. :)
2021-05-06 14:40
Topics are hidden when running Sport mode.
All time: Megadeth, so many good albums and songs, so good guitar solos and riffs. Recent times: Opeth, just masterpiece songs.

Pretty sure I've heard those names before, but I doubt I've heard any songs by them (or at least I can't remember any). Might have to check them out now! :)

I actually really liked the Opeth song you linked, it kind of gives me vibes of a metal band that I really like called Loathe. Definitely will add that to my playlist, thanks! Megadeth wasn't really my type, but that's fine. I can totally understand why you like that, just not my cup of tea. :)

First song that I ever heard by them was "New Faces In The Dark" youtube.com/watch?v=n_KZtfsJYFE In my opinion the whole album is a masterpiece that's definitely worth checking out! They've also published an instrumental album this year (not my cup of tea, but still alright) and one album before the latter two called "The Cold Sun". I didn't really like it at first, but it has grown on me a lot after listening to it multiple times. Here are some of my favorite songs from that album: youtube.com/watch?v=_oupqTVdblI - East of Eden youtube.com/watch?v=KurhXJPFDvo - It's Yours (No clue why the instrumental intro is so long on the YT video?) youtube.com/watch?v=3blvYIPb2xk - Babylon... Edit: Right after I commented, I realized I made a little mistake about the first song that I heard by them. It was actually a song called "Servant and Master" on a collab album with "Holding Absence" (worth checking out as well!) youtube.com/watch?v=VA9r0V4qzko - Servant and Master

Not to mention black rose immortal and deliverance. Opeth have really been the only band for me who embrace change and keep evolving in their own manner. I didn't like sorceress as much but right up until watershed and even heritage to a certain extent were really good .

I really like Radiohead, Pink Floyd, Benjamin Clementine, and Billie Eilish for their lyrics. They aren't straightforward, it takes some thinking for understanding them. This often leads towards a personal interpretation of the lyrics which makes them more personal.

I get what you mean. I had a similar thing with twenty one pilots when I used to listen to them a lot back in 2017. Having a personal interpretation just gives a little extra touch to the music, which might help make it even more enjoyable. :) I never really got into Radiohead or Pink Floyd (although I still don't think they are bad by any means) and Benjamin Clementine is a name that I haven't heard before. Billie Eilish just simply isn't for me. :D

Sleep Walker - Great jazz band imo, they're really energetic and the songs sound so good. Nicolas Jaar - Has lots of variety in his music, his mixes are really fucking great and match so well. Lil Ugly Mane - Also has lots of variety of genres, but I found him by looking through his Mista Thug Isolation. He's a great producer too, I would put him up with the likes of Kanye. EDIT: Alon Mor too, his newest album, Lands of Delight is really great and layered with so many fucking details.

Illmatic is a great album, highly recommend it and you might wanna follow through the lyrics in a website like Genius to make sure you understand all the references that he makes. If you like that type of rap then classical Jay-Z, biggie and Wu-Tang may also be of your liking

I love Deftones, although I only got into them quite recently. They've still grown into one of my favorite bands. I've heard about TOOL, but I can't really remember if I've heard any of their songs though. Gojira is another band that I've only recently started to like and I'm still quite unfamiliar with their older stuff (wouldn't mind some recommendations :D). The others are unknown to me, but I'll check them out as well!

For gojira, my facourite older songs are Love, Space time, In the forest, and a couple of ones in the link i can't remember. The album From mars to sirius is a thing you have to listen and experience start to finish. Their new album also rocks. Tool does not have a bad song, not even one. Try Schism, Parabola, The Pot to begin the dive into the rabbit hole. Deftones are fucking amazing. I'd say listen to every album from both gojira and tool or any other bands i mentioned start to finish, best way to find out what you like

royal blood- bass and drums duo that makes great groovy rock. I love their album typhoons, it was relased on 30 april king gizzard- most diverse band of current times (they made jazz, thrash metal, boogie rock, western and many more) they released 17 albums since 2011 and released 5 albums in 2017( every single one is great). Im in your mind fuzz is great starter album( first half is wild, fast and crazy, second half is pretty chill) mastodon- earlier records are sludge metal, newer are progressive metal. Crack the skye is considered ther greatest record by most fans

A friend of mine have a cousin who played some kind of French horn on the first CD. At first I thought the recording was some kind of joke, and suddenly they are famous in Norway:) They have quit, though. This is their last song: youtube.com/watch?v=Ogmrl9Yu9sQ (Funeral Polka)

Recently I've been listening to: Car Seat Headrest. Rock music with great lyrics etc, lyrics maybe more about being an awkward teen and so forth. Teens of denial is I think their most accessible record BROCKHAMPTON. Experimental-ish Hip-hop, though they do cross genres a lot. They just dropped their new album ROADRUNNER, but I'd recommend Saturation 1-3 100 gecs. Insane ass pop music (hyperpop), really experimental, can be kinda hit or miss but really fun music. They have a record called 1000 gecs and then theres one called 1000 gecs and the tree of clues, where they got a lot of different artists to do remixes such as Charli XCX, Dorian Electra, Fallout Boy and Injury Reserve Bring Me The Horizon. Been in love with their newest record POST HUMAN: SURVIVAL HORROR. It's like metal mixed with some electronic music. I really dont enjoy much metal aside from them and gojira

I've heard some mixed things about 100 gecs, but I kind of like experimental music so I guess I could give it a shot and see if I like it. :) And I'm a big BMTH fan and I got into them through POST HUMAN: SURVIVAL HORROR, because a friend of mine recommended it to me when they released Teardrops. I like most of their stuff, but all the stuff after Sempiternal is a bit meh (haven't listened to those in a long time though, so I might have to give them another go). I also really like the experimental album with an absurdly long name, although most people seem to really dislike it. Gojira is also nice, it's a band that I've been recently getting into. :)

Pink Floyd - GOAT band Nas - GOAT raper (Illmatic and It Was Written to good even if rest of discography meh) Kanye - may not be best lyrically but he is the only rapper who has true musical talent beyond that, he does very different approach to many albums in production tone etc and he is almost always successful in making something intrigueing (fuck jik, should be yandhi:(((( ) Gabriel Faure - Mozart doesnt have shit on his requiem youtu.be/UnilUPXmipM Mobb Deep - top tier 90s rap listen to The Infamous if u havent Boccherini - youtu.be/IUSnRLPbZGk (great concerto, he does best cello music) Grateful Dead - unique rock band with many good songs (terrapin station, ripple ofc, althea, uncle johns band just to name a few) but does not really pursue perfection of their compositions much more of improvisation in flow of concerts Peach Pit - good pop rock band
