G2 vs Gambit - analysis
 |
Serbia eliiiiii_
Last time these two teams met Gambit showed vulnerability on Train, but the first and third map made up for it since they were total blowouts. This time around I'm hoping for a closer game, not really expecting a win since G2 is still in transition and Gambit is already well established as the most dominant team in competitive CS, but Gambit is definitely starting to show signs of vulnerability and difficulty to adapt to teams who are studying them 24/7. As for players, I think the two teams are pretty similar firepower wise: sh1ro and Ax1le are pretty much the NiKo and huNter- of Gambit (except that sh1ro is a proper AWP player), the game will pretty much come down to these four and how well they can open up rounds and win crucial 2v2s/3v3s which last time around Gambit won almost all of. Hobbit is this wildcard player that can also frag like crazy and G2 doesn't have a Hobbit, but they have AmaNek whose explosive entries and impact frags can more than make up for his score on the scoreboard. As for the rest of the players on both teams, I'd pretty much consider all of them good role players that can also pull an important round through when it matters. Gonna be a fun game to watch, if Gambit wins I don't think it'll be even as close to as easy as it was last time, however if G2 somehow wins it's gonna be a fucking brawl of like 28+ rounds on every map. As for the map veto, I think it'll go something like this: Gambit removed Nuke G2 removed Overpass Gambit picked Train G2 picked Inferno Gambit removed Dust2 G2 removed Mirage Vertigo 3rd I think G2 has the best chance of taking Inferno, and Gambit probably is still very confident on Train while G2 always look at least a little bit shaky on it; I don't think G2 wants Dust2 this time around although I wouldn't be surprised; both teams probably want Vertigo as the third so I assume that's what it will be My optimistic prediction: G2-1 Inferno 16-13 Train 15-19 Vertigo 19-16 gl gambit mens

train is one of their best maps and G2 has shown promise on it, but not beating-Gambit-consistently kind of promise

wouldnt it be easier for gambit to win on mriage rather than train? mirage was g2's best pick when they first got niko. i believe a 2-1 for gambit
2021-05-08 13:31
Good Analysis. I think G2 can do it tbh. They have the firepower and the IGL that is Nexa and Malek's tactics. But the inconsistency is maddening. Hope to see a Na'vi and G2 final :))

they were inconsistent in the past, right now they look like a top 5 team that even on a bad day can perform up to par so we'll see what future holds

This sounds like Na'vi as well for some reason xD. Considering they lost to Gambit in a very close match without a performing electronic.
2021-05-08 13:33
I would consider gambit's firepower better on the avarage day. g2 have individuals who can shine though but they're just not consistent. but tactically gambit is 2x better then nexa and malek.
2021-05-08 13:46
So anyway G2 wins because NiKo :D

It's gonna be a really tough match for G2 but if they can unlock their full potential then G2 can definitely win against Gambit.

Gambit wins sry bro, I would also rather have G2 vs NAVI final but that wont happen unfortunately
2021-05-08 13:38
g2 might win a map
2021-05-08 13:39
nice analysis. I think gambit will win this kinda ez unless g2 has a third guy stepping up as you said with the sh1ro and ax1le vs hunter and NiKo, where gambit has hobbit and as the wildcard, and I know you said g2 have amanek but I dont think it is quite enough :)D

its rare to see niko and hunter playing well enough in the same match to be able to beat a team like gambit. Tbh i think this match will go even smoother for gambit. they probably know g2 better now then last time. I also feel like g2 will struggle against an awper like sh1ro. very passive, only way to properly shut him down is by having another strong awper to pick him off when he tries to repeek angles. I like the analysis though it can def go both ways

you're making the same mistake as I was making in the past thinking that G2 can't adapt/antistrat and other teams can they showed a tactical masterclass against VP, mouz and Astralis (aside from Nuke) which they always had a potential to create, but they always had bad defaults, setups and chemistry and the hot potato AWP role which all are basically supposed to be a foundation to any strategic approach; no foundation = strats are useless right now I think that if they show up full force, if nexa reads the game well, makes good calls and the map veto doesn't go terribly wrong, and if they show the will to win which can win games alone even on a bad day (spirit game in showdown is a great example), they'll be a problem for Gambit to say the least

If Jackz and nexa are fragging like tommorow and Niko enter god mode, hunter being hunter if amanek is hitting awp shots...Everything can happend tbh.

not like antistratting Astralis was hard they found their worst map (a map G2 themselves gained a lot of confidence on), abused their shit T side setups and just outfragged them on their own T side Nuke went poorly, but Vertigo was one sided even with 1/2 pistols

I would say Hobbit and Ax1le are the NiKo and Hunter of Gambit, and Sh1ro is the S1mple of Gambit, which G2 doesn't have.

you're overvaluing sh1ro sure he's insane and top 3 at the moment, but he only plays good if the team plays good (which has been the case so far) a better, more aggressive Jame

I meant playstyle, not skill. I wouldn't say Hobbit is as good as either NiKo or Hunter either.
