Good player, outstanding even, but too much of a ball hog and rebound stealer imho, if you want to look at a LEGITIMATELY amazing player Nikola Jokic is right there

triple double man would have had one if Thunder were willing to pay luxury tax for hardan but they are noobs

Lets be honest, they didnt have space to extend Harden on a big deal when Houston offered him a supermax

well my point was to pay luxury tax in the short term when soon after the salary cap would skyrocket. tbh most of my basketball knowledge has been from watching videos. SB Nation/whatever they are called said something similar and it made sense.

They had Serge Ibaka, Keving Durant and Russel Westbrook on the team, along with Harden there is NO WAY IN HELL that they could have paid them all what they wanted

but they could have kept Harden before he went to Houston. a max contract in like 2014 would have been fine as the salary cap would grow. soon after ofc at some point they wont be able to keep them all, but they would have had 1-3 years to win

They would have had to trade Ibaka which was very hard to do since he had a giant contract, and im not even gonna talk about Westbrook and KD being on the team, Brooklyn has managed to get 3 MAX players on the team this season, but only because their other guys have relatively small contracts

fair enough maybe I am just missing a part of the thunders story during that time. I guess I thought because the salary cap would grow so quickly the thunder would be able to afford to overpay in the short term which would be fine later on because the salary cap would grow so quickly

His role back then was 6th man, but he knew he could be the MVP on another team, which he did but he missed out on the ring they could have gotten with that roster in OKC, he wanted the money and the fame more than to win a ring

I remember Harden said something along these lines: I have sacrificed enough for this team and I expect them to sacrifice for me [their sacrifice being to go over the salary cap to pay him max money]. I think its more something in the middle that he wanted money but also maybe thought he could be the main star carry to a ring and didnt like the orginization not willing to give him max money.

Correct - he did get an MVP while he was in H-town, but he left them to win a RING which was missing, i guess he was just short sighter back then + his ego is as big as the Death Star

do you really think that superteam the nets made will actually win a ring? I think they wont, but I dont follow the nba too much recently.

A team with Kyrie, Durant and Harden healthy is ALWAYS the favorite to win a ring, especially since they have some good roleplayers on that team aswell. That being said, i am rooting for Denver to win a ring. The only thing i can tell you for sure is that Brooklyn will win at the very least 1 ring, they are too good not to

they have those 3 guys for only 3 years. You really think they get a ring? Maybe I am wrong, but arent teams like the Mavs/Denver going to become very very strong in the future + right now they may just get upset by like the Lakers or Giannis.

Lakers and Bucks are currently the only teams that can realistically beat them and Lebron is getting old, i dont think you understand how good a team with the best scorer of all time (KD) and Kyrie+Harden backcourt is

I just remember all the storylines about shit defense. So I would think a guy like GIannis could just score so much Nets cant stop them similar with brow+lebron. I guess we will see. I do remember seeing shit about how everyone will get their shots, but I don't think thats an actual real issue. I guess during the playoffs when I follow the NBA more I will see the might of those big 3

If they are all healthy, no defense or offense in the world will stop them

Easy for you to say they should've kept Harden now. Had they extended him, they would've been paying about 80 mil in luxury tax (due to repeater tax kicking in) plus like 70 mil of base salaries of the whole team. No way in hell does a franchise like OKC have that kind of money to invest so big in what essentialy was a 6th man.

look I am not the most informed on nba thats just the storyline I remember. Also, wasn't Harden like an amazing 6th man not just any 6th man tho. also wouldnt that only have been like 10-20mil extra in total spend by the time the salary cap caught up and they would be more likely than not have gotten a ring? Maybe I am completely wrong I would think luxury tax was just you pay extra on the money above that line (so like they would be 10-20m above which would cost an extra like 20m which would be nothing for a ring). pls correct me if I am wrong you probably know 100x than me. Havent actively followed nba closely for like 3+ years.

You're right, they would've been fine after the cap increase. The problem for them is that the cap only rose in 2016, which means they would've had to go very deep into luxury tax for three straight seasons and for as good as Harden has been, I doubt many owners would've had the balls to do so in OKCs position, given that he wasn't a bonafide star just yet. Obviously, the smart thing would've have been not signing Perkins in the first place, but that's hindsight again.

he is a ball hogger. he only cares about his own stats. so he can't win championships. he is actually the reason KD left. stupid OKC wanted to make westbrook the alpha. KD is arguably the second best player in the league after Lebron. and he was sacrificed because of that ball hoggers tripple double hype.

KD said he didn't leave because of Westbrook. but nt.
2021-05-11 23:05
kd is definitely worse than harden, jokic, embiid, antetoukoumpo, and maybe even stephanie kd got exposed, he can't lead his team, nets are shit without harden, not even above 50% winrate hopped on 73-9 team and fooled everyone, he is still a great scorer but just like kyrie can't make other players better

Nets is a terribly built team anyways. No defense, no team play, all about star power... I guess kd had enough championships and just wanted a team that he can do some statpadding himself this time lul.

this team is average without harden, but with harden it's game over, no one is beating this team if everyone stays healthy let's not forget the fact that harden almost beat warriors ( best team ever) losing only 4;3 after cp3 got injured now he has kd and kyrie and joe harris and solid role players, no way they lose this harden is lowkey the best player in the league rn, especially if lebron plays this bad I would love to see lakers - nets finals

Idk wouldn’t mind Knicks, somehow don’t find Nets as huge favorites. Well ik they have KD, Harden and Irving but idk, them winning is not a problem for me tho. Would love to see Kawhi lift a trophy again

Amazing player no doubt, he has crazy stats but (and It is a big but) He is a ball hogger, he plays clearly for stats, he has never been a team player and He'll never win titles.
