micro stutters on high fps
 |
Estonia YungAlcoholic
I have had struggles with micro stutters in CS for the past month or so. I think I might have fixed it now and I am not 100% sure what fixed it since I tried a couple of things. I managed to find a video that fixed "High Shaders FPS drops/Stutters". I have been playing on High Low High High settings because of the molotov smoke. I switched back to everything low and now it seems to be stuttering way less at least. If any of you have found High FPS stutters then let me know so I can try them out.

Topics are hidden when running Sport mode.
usually I have stuttering issues and sometimes they just no longer happen and other times I lowered. tho I think we have different issues as usually i get it from getting into aim duels. anyways here is bump

I have stuttering while I turn and shoot quite a lot. Just doing casual turns with my mouse the game is laggy as hell

Try deleting the userid folder it has solved a lot of people's stuttering problem

isnt it the folder that has my config and everything?

Yes it is located in the steam userdata folder

yeah but that way it deletes all my game data and my config totally resets

I think you can delete just the cs go folder. It is called 730 or some other number i'm not sure.

yeah 730 it is. But still my autoexec, video settings and config are all in that folder. I mean yeah i can copy paste them somewhere else but later on i still have to put it back in the folder since by deleting it steam will probably put it back

That's true, back them up just in case.

yeah ill back them up, ill actually try this with default config and see how the FPS and lag is, if its better ill start using commands and settings 1 by 1

I saw a thread on reddit where it helped a lot of people so it doesn't hurt to try it. Good luck!

turn on uber shaders and shader cache

Do you have any suggestions for texture streaming? I checked a youtube benchmark video for best CS settings and I think he said if you are running a very low system it helps with FPS, but if your on a medium/high end PC you can turn it off since it basically does nothing. I did some benchmarking myself even tho benchmarks in CS arent that good and I got basically the same result every time. Also my uber shaders have been enabled all the time and same goes for shader cache, never had it off. If you have any other nvidia settings suggestions let me know.

Does it really help with micro stutters too or is it just like a couple of FPS boost? I have seen quite mixed feelings about this setting and I think most people kept it at 1.

i mean i know its CS, the game can be god awful at times, but the thing is it occured out of nowhere for me, probably from changing something but I am not aware of what it is. I used to have a butter smooth game that is hella stuttery now and I lose quite a bit of aim duels.

yes, buy new computer because of a known CS problem. Sorry but if I can run CS on over 300 fps all of the time I don't think its my problem
2021-05-13 12:28
Your pc specs ? If I had to guess you have a weak gpu and good cpu, this is the problem that most people face with pre build rigs
2021-05-13 12:30

its not a prebuild, i had it put together by my friend when i didnt know much about PC building. GPU: 1060 gaming x 6gb CPU: 7700k clocked by MSI game boost mode in BIOs RAM: Corsair vengeance 2 x 8GB @3000mhz on XMP mode since it for some reason is on 2133 without it. I also have my GPU clocked, +120 Core and +400 Memory. Should make it around 2000 and 4400.

Yeah pretty weak gpu, if you don't have stutters in triple aaa titles but have in cs then this is your gpu I have no problems with 3080, wait when gpu prices drop

Yeah its insane in Estonia, they cost so much rn. Also I have never had problems with this rig, I have had it for 3 years or so now and CS never had issues running on high fps or getting stutters. Unless my GPU has basically died out I don't see any other problem.

CSGO gets worse with every update, I remember when I had stable 500-600 fps now I get 300-400 Probably has nothing to do with your gpu but you can't really fix anything except getting a better gpu

gpu doesn't impact performance in csgo on low settings, only cpu matters he should buy ryzen 5 5600x for smoothest experience, 1060 /3080 makes 0 difference on competitive settings

If there is a bottleneck between gpu and cpu in cs go it can cause micro stutters, especially if you have a bad gpu. You can have high fps but gpu still matters and that can create micro stutters

albanian guy that posted a thread yesterday has r5 5600x and 1060 and 500-600 fps with no problems I have rx 580 ( not even a good gpu) and ryzen 3 3300x no stutters 450 fps

first of all its not a pc problem guys, his cpu and his gpu should be able to handle the game perfectly fine. a friend of mine is playing on a xeon 1231v3, thats basicly the same as the i7 4770k and he gets 300fps and has no stutters. his gpu is gtx 1070 but still i dont think that this is a problem with his pc

ur friend is lying , even i7 7700k is not even good for cs anymore
2021-05-13 13:08
300 fps looking at the sky isn't important, his fps lows are most definitely around 140-150 in heavy encounters if not less

that would be an information that we would need to have, i understood it like he has 300fps all the time but it still stutters but if he has fps drops, like you say, you would probably be right, that his pc cant keep up with cs and everything happening if he said that somewhere in this thread i am sorry, i didnt read every answer ^^

Also, should I have override the scaling mode set by games and programs ticked in NCP? I have GPU scaling only on my monitor and I have scaling mode set to Full-Screen because I play stretched 4:3. Also I disabled Windows Game mode cuz it really doesnt give much FPS and might have bugs and same for Hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling. I also have CPU 0 disabled and game priority set to high which both seemed to give me more FPS. Also they are not the reason for stutter im pretty sure.

It's different for everyone, try enabling scaling mode and disabling and see if you have a difference, I personally have it enabled

"I also have CPU 0 disabled and game priority set to high which both seemed to give me more FPS." remove both of these, only use r_dynamic 0 cl_forcepreload 1 or 0 whatever works better, 1 is better for me and -tickrate 128 also tick the "disable fullscrean optimisation" box in csgo.exe properties

disable fullscreen optimization is a really bad setting. I barely does anything actually, almost doesnt give fps and also when alt tabbing your game colors will change.

If you have a Ryzen and you're getting this issue, install ProcessLasso and change CPU affinity towards CSGO. Disabling CPU cores 0 and 1 completely removed my micro stuttering and increased my FPS, the only stuttering I get now is early game / first rounds when assets are still loading

i have a i7 7700k and i have processlasso with CPU 0 disabled, 1 is enabled, hyper threading pulled down a lot of fps. I think my game got better with some changes i did, most some commands.

it is on no restriction aka rate 7..... whatever there isnt any problems with my var or choke or anything im pretty sure, they all seem fine

Try capping your fps through nvidia settings

think its better that way? also what should i cap to? i have always had my game capped at 999, currently i can get up to 500 constant when theres no lighting and around 300 when playing normaly etc. Is it better to cap it?
2021-05-13 15:18

Usually it is better to cap just above your monitor refresh rate. Don't use the csgo commands to cap it, cap it through your gpu settings

does vsync cap my game to my monitors refresh rate? also game runs way smoother and better when im capped at like 300 or uncapped, even under 240 my game felt laggier

Dont use vsyncs it causes lag
2021-05-13 15:37
It depends on your monitors hz. Vsync also creates slight input delay that is very noticeable in cs so unless it is very bad i don't use it.

2021-05-13 15:25
It helped me to reduce fps_max to my lowest fps on the map while shooting, so i have 130 on (120 hz screen) My var spikes are now down to 1/3 of the old value and stutters are gone. Not so silky smooth anymore but in total its way better.

no i havent, the only thing ive really done regarding stuff like that is overclocking my GPU, using game mode boost aka MSI MOBO automatic OC on my CPU and XMP profile in MOBO bios to overclock my RAM from 2133mhz to 3000mhz that its supposed to run on.

2021-05-13 16:01

Yeah, true. This engine wasn't meant to be played at 200+ fps when they were making it at the beggining of the 2000s. These stutters I have are very small, on a 60 fps recording they would be very hard to spot, they are like 30ms, but they can be a bit annoying.
2021-05-13 16:03
im using 2 x 8GB corsair vengeance @3000MHz, but its set to 2133MHz by default, im using XMP profile (MSI MOBOs ram boost) so it made it faster.
2021-05-13 16:03
do you have the possibility to install a clean windows on a second hard drive somehow? if you only install windows and cs on there we could find out if its maybe some software related problem on your "main" system
2021-05-13 15:53

Idk if its the guys problem, its more like CS problem as most people I know have those microstutters.
2021-05-13 15:59
1 reply
yeah its mostly CS itself. Happens to most of us, but i managed to still drag the lag and stuttering down a bit by modifying a lot of stuff and finding out myself. I also disabled microsoft game mode and haredware accelerated GPU scailing since they do barely nothing and can rather couse lag.
2021-05-13 16:02
i think i might have fixed it, my cs is quite smooth rn and almost no stutter, main reasons being High Shaders + Physx set to auto and not GPU. But after i reinstalled windows (recovered PC) I installed everything again and I started looking into tweeking. I did a lot of tweeking, downloading programs etc and idk if some of them might be the reason. I currently use ISLC to clear RAM and set custom timer resolution to 0.50. Also I have Process Lasso so I can disable CPU 0 and set game to high.
