He was pretty competent actually, but his ideology was bad.

He was a good speaker but he wasn't cool headed. Taking Bismarck as example, if he actually tried to learn something from him he could've forged a Greater Germany without fighting a war against all of Europe. France and Britain were scared of another war against Germany, they did nothing when Austria joined the Reich even though they first didn't allow it after WW1 when Austria wanted to do it and they were okay with Germany annexing the Sudetenland from Czechia. He could've applied political pressure onto the allies and forcing Poland to give a corridor to East Prussia without firing a single bullet. His hate and arrogance made him blind, the ideology standing in the way of keen diplomacy.
2021-05-15 15:29
completely opposite ideology is not bad but total incompetence

it is when the food is not so varied. I mean obivously you can eat pretty much wtf you want everywhere now (big cities), but talking about the traditionnal german food, it lacks some depth imo i wasn't counting on engaging in a culinary debate tho xd

bruh we eat meat and bread here what more do you need? its simple thing done well although it is a good point If I ever open up a restaurant in Jermany idk what I would put on the menu that is special a lot of people esp in rural areas might just want local food instead of anything exotic or that exiting but I would really prefer to have a unique menu so yh idk kev

bruh if you only say traditional fast food, you can say the same about france and many other countries. the only ones with a lot of variety are probably USA, Netherlands and Asian countries. Germany has a lot of traditional meals, here's a list of 30 meals that would definitely last me more than a week: lecker.de/deutsche-rezepte-klassiker-die.. Here's a list of 30 french recipes: – both cuisines are good and have their own strengths elle.fr/Elle-a-Table/Idees-de-menus/Gast.. these are more on the lunch side, but it really just depends on what site/list you find.

"lol" like i never lived in germany. the cool part is, both lists are random, but both lists boast a lot of diversity. the daily (warm) snack, or streetfood is pretty uncreative in both France and Germany, compared to USA, Netherlands, or Asian countries. France might have a one-up on patisserie, but then again Germany will win in diversity of buns & breads (not sure about the english name). The real full-meal cuisine can't really be compared, as France has a lot of sea-food in coastal areas and some more savory stuff in the countryside, while Germany is mostly savory everywhere, but still very diverse. I prefer the French cuisine more due to personal preference, but diversity-wise both are the same, just different.

AFAIK, it used to be really bad back when it was an actual threat in around 2015-2016, but since then it has been fairly strict in terms of who can come to the country. I'm not 100% sure, but some of my german friends have told me this.
2021-05-15 19:09
we'll have to see.. one big prob is, that a lot of ppl (with any heritage, even german) dont identify with this country, so there is no unity, which obv is causing problems and weakness. but i'd say, all in all were still fine around here

gelsenkirchen (or the ruhrpott in general) belongs to the worst affected areas of stopping coal mining, which is good imho, but it causes problems, when there is no plan for hundred thousands of workers that lost their jobs/industry. tbh, mining already stopped in the 90s and parts of the ruhrgebiet overcame the breakdown, but some are still struggling

endless flatlands in central germany, lul where?! norddeutsche tiefebene is flat and a little boring to be fair. im from the north, to me its still nice and the coastlines are best
2021-05-16 11:26
2 replies
if you go from Dortmund to Leipzig by train it's flat all the way, coast lines are definitely more interesting than potato fields and grassland. edit: I guess central germany is not exactly the right location, but the train from Dortmund to Leipzig passes Hannover and goes around some higher hills (~300 m around Kassel). So on the train ride there are only about two 200 meter hills in between and obviously it's not completely flat, but a lot of the land is flattened by agriculture.
2021-05-16 20:45
edit2 – couldn't edit #183 anymore: I made a custom route to try and remove the (only) two hills caused by the train route, and that seems pretty flat: gyazo.com/1fca57bd7c188660e665497b9009d0.. the only hilly area remaining is always gonna be between Kassel, Bielefeld and Osnabruck, so yes in the "center" of Germany there is a small hilly area, you're right – but go north and it's ResidentSleeper until Hamburg.
