As I obviously find hiphop from the early 2000's the best, I watched Drake receive the Artist of the decade award last night. And tbf, he deserves it 200%. I was wondering if he is the best artist EVER on earth?
Dude can sing/rap literally every genre and has been topping the charts since 2010.

best artist doesnt mean best rapper,
for example, eminem, technical skill wise, such a great rapper, as an artist, not so great, has made a couple lackluster albums.
then theres rappers like kanye west, not so great technically/lyrically, but great artists, has one bad album and many classics and just great albums overall, also one of the greatest albums, My beautiful dark twisted fantasy.

Yes i am aware, but if someone is not great at anything he does be it rapping, singing, etc. Then the sum of the parts will never be "GOAT".
Kanye is carried hard by great beats and fairly emotional music. Eminem by his technical skill. What does Drake have that makes him stand out? Nothing really. Outside of expensive features :D

You can be a really bad musician and still make tons of money depending on your marketing, and those awards are just about marketing
You just have to take a look at the ranking, Justin Bieber is 7th so this award means nothing. Taylor Swift being 2nd is also a great joke

Indeed. I never understood what's the point in trying to argue about music genres. Instead of giving hateful comments at someone's favorite genre/artist/band, why not try to introduce them to music that you like?
The best feeling ever is when you share some music with someone and they really like it, or when someone shares music with you and you really like it. I've found new music through different HLTV users countless times already and it always makes me extremely happy. :)

Damn, you are a very interesting and nice user mens. When you play music in car, home.. doesn't matter and people vibe with it it truly makes you happy. Creates a bond.

Couldn't agree more with what you just said. Seeing people genuinely enjoy music that you share with them and vibing with it is a great feeling. That's why I feel like pop music and even rap these days are really liked genres, since it's music that most people like to some extent and it easily creates a bond between different people. But then, that's just how I see it.
I think communities that are not necessarily music related are a great way of finding new music. In HLTV for example, there are tons of different users from different backgrounds, communities and countries. They all have their own likings and just asking what kind of music do they like and giving it a go, is a great way of finding completely new music that you can like.
One example that comes to mind, is the user KoksSkirtumas (my apologies if I got the name wrong) who introduced me to a band called Delac. They are quite unknown, but they make great music and I doubt I would've found them without him recommending one song by them to me.

First of all I am gonna +1 this, as I am not really that good in writing in English and explaining myself like you are))
I have 2 kind of groups in my friends if you get what I mean, and it's really day and night difference in music style. And I truly enjoy both and I like it a lot to be updated in different genres. Although when we party together it is mostly the known pop/hiphop we play but like the day after or when we chilling it is the other group's music :)

I get what you mean. Most of my friends are more into rap and pop, but then I have one friend for example who is a big black metal fan. I can talk with them about different music genres, which is quite nice, although not the same what you do with your friends. Regardless I do understand what you mean. ^^

id agree yes kanye for me was more influential bc of his interesting persona and very diverse lyrics in his music. drake makes pretty standard music while not being a very interesting person which is why i think hes so overrated. id give more credit to whoever produces his music imo because for me thats what really carries his whole vibe

Imo he sounds too generic, not really special. He is good in bringing out hits that the mainstream wants, but thats about it. But it‘s just my opinion.
