Monaco is one my favourites. What you said about it is true. But the fact that Monaco is as big as a neighborhood plays a role here as well.

Yeah, maybe it is, but its also the size of average neighbourhood in big city :D

true but it is fulled to the brim with fanciness, which no other neighborhood can claim :D

2021-06-01 17:12

I don't see NYC as having a 'soul'. It's mostly a big corporate city with big steel beams in the air. Historic cities are much more about the people that live in them therefore giving it a 'soul'.
2021-06-01 17:57
12 replies
Hmm Nyc is one of it‘s kind. I was there multiple times and it has it‘s charme. There aren‘t many concrete jungles that can achieve this charme. Also nyc has quite a bit of history.
2021-06-01 18:01

It has the most charme of all the concrete jungles I must say. Some defininetly have no charme at all, but NYC has some.

Why are you assuming that I‘ve never been there? I travel a lot. I‘ve been in NY in 2009, 2014 and 2018. And I always liked it. I have a fascination for skyscrapers and the city. It is the city that never sleeps there is always something going on. The city is also very authentic unlike Miami downtown which is practically dead and people there are just on vacation. NY has it‘s flaws, but they can also give a bit of Charme. It‘s my opinion anyways.
2021-06-15 23:19

I assumed so because of the point i stated above, it’s always people who fantasise about NY saying what a great place it is. There are safer, more beautiful places with more charm and more history that are overlooked simply because NY has the name and they don’t
2021-06-16 10:28
1 reply
But charm is subjective.
2021-06-16 15:07
No they're not. I mean ofc if you will put them in a city historic centre but i understand your opinion since all people are different

NYC isn't very exciting, and I've lived there. Ofc it is if you're like living in the most expensive places and you have money to burn but for everyone else it's not very luxurious or fancy.

The way I think of a city to be "fancy" is that the citizens of that city are also "fancy." NYC is anything but fancy in this regard, along with architecture everything is drowned out by the big grey walls that are the workplaces of the average citizen. NYC is not among the most fancy cities, it is just average.
2021-06-01 17:15
think Monaco, or Geneve, Venice etc. those are fancy.

It's not hard to rise above NYC, it's not a very fancy or luxurious place to live in unless you're rich asf. And ofc the stuff you see in pictures or in shows or in movies makes it seem wonderful, but it isn't that great. It's pretty average

Depends on where you are. Ten percent of İstanbul is like 9.5/10. But the rest is like 3/10. Places next to Bosphorus are beautiful like Arnavutköy, Bebek, Etiler, Baltalimanı, Beylerbeyi, Vaniköy, Kandilli etc. Fatih's Beyoğlu's touristic places are also impressive. But, in overall, I would not say İstanbul is a fancy city.

I‘m there every winter and I grew up right next to Zermatt. It depends how you define fancy. Zermatt has a nicer skiing resort, but st moritz has many of the most magnificent hotels and is full of luxury. Davos is probably not in there you are right, but it‘s highly regarded since it hosts the world economics forum and offers some splendid locations.

I don't really give a shit about "magnificent hotels" and "full(ness) of luxury". This shit is present in any major city. And if you are going to an Alpine resort to buy a Gucci bag, how fucking retarded are you?

Paris was really great in the past but right now it's 2nd most overrated city in the world right after Dubai at least in my head
2021-06-01 17:11

Dubai is very overrated. I live there at the moment and while downtown and the marina are very very nice, those don't reflect the actual emirate at all. Dubai is mostly just fucking desert, and while it isn't shabby, most of the population is lower middle class and so it's just a very normal place, hurt by the fact it's in the middle of the desert. Even the wealthy parts of Dubai can be very tacky, I don't really like the way many rich people flaunt wealth, I have always found it very distasteful. There also isn't a lot to do as a tourist or resident, so there's that. Paris is super nice in some areas, and we have a nice history and some really good architecture. Problem is a lot of Paris is a shit hole, it's a dirty city, over run by tourists, and Parisians are some of the most annoying people in Europe. If I think of cities I find overrated on the top of my head I would say Singapore is a boring place. Nicest imo are Kyoto in Japan and Hong Kong is a great place for the most part, ignoring glaring inequality issues and frequent pollution.
2021-06-01 17:18

I was there during summer, the City centre was basically dead and I saw no real local shops only hundred shops where you can buy weddingdresses. Then there was loads of traffic and some sketchy areas. Then I went to southbeach and oh boy... weirdos left and right. Also there were almost no real culutral sights. The only nice thing was some of the nature when you drive out a bit.

Monaco probably fanciest, but not really attractive to me. the only thing to do is spend money and go to the beach...

Not Paris, thats for sure. I've been there many times and its most overrated city in the world. Its dirty as fvck and literally looks like garbage expect from icons of the city like Eiffel Tower
