Movies that made you cry
 |
Denmark Vespurr
I am looking for movies that make grown mens)) cry. Really want anyone that can make me cry, doesn't matter how old the movie is, as long as it peels onions English movies preferred, but also other languages okay, prefer non-obscure films (aka films with at least Wikipedia article is my standard) but I will try it if you really vouch for it

1917. One of the best war movies of all time When the guy who has watched his friend die In his arms. Then also when he gave milk to the baby and all the food to that lady. What a hero. Dunkirk. The civilian guy on the boat going to Dunkirk to help out. If more people were like that man the world would be a better place. Just his character made me well up a bit.

Forrest Gump (1994). I did not cry the first or second time I saw it, but now tears come to my every time. Life ain't always easy, but it sure can be beautiful. Bonus: Great historical references. East of Eden (1955). This is about a younger son who seeks acceptance from his father. Bonus: I learned something important from this movie.

To present something less common, I think Japanese drama are quite known for being rather sad and pessimistic. imdb.com/title/tt1370332 for me. There's a movie of it as well instead of the mini series but it's just not as great. Tells the story of 15-year-old Ikeuchi Aya, an ordinary girl and a new highschool student. But soon she discovers she has spinocerebellar degeneration, an incurable disease that affects the cerebellum of the brain. Based on a true story, Aya lived her life to the fullest until her death at 25. It's the saddest I've ever watched, it's a combination of the actors and the acting and Japanese way of no sugarcoating and the music.
