Vietnam? straight failure
Middle eastern wars? Success if success means the top 0.00001% get richer and kids get killed
Korea? They split the whole country in half
But France and Britain had empires for 200 years with the British having the largest of all time
no, i have to agree with #197 & #261 here, France also had Napoleon. And at the time, he practically controlled all of Europe, minus P OMEGALUL rtugal, Sweden, and The UK.
France was definitely one of the strongest countries in the world, if not in history, despite that being so far in the past.
Yeah, but you also have to take into account the fact that the americans didnt even have an army until 105 years ago. Of course, Europe had a few nations that dominated the known world during different eras but at the moment USA is the strongest when it comes to modern warfare with Russia very close as well. I'm actually thankful for not having to live in times where we have to experience the horrors of wars like the first and 2nd WW or even the Napoleonic wars.
No, you're 100% correct here. Obviously, if the US had an army, not even a quarter of what they have today, Napoleon probably wouldn't have gotten that far. And yes, I agree with you being thankful not living during those times haha, definitely thankful for being able to also live in a country that doesn't go to war very often too.
also in 2WW the allies in Europe didnt do that much. In 1944 the Red Army was in the steppe and Germans were pretty much fucked in the soviet front. Normandy was more of a diplomacy tool because they were afraid of Stalin literally not advancing into Germany than the war situation itself.
In contrary, they really helped in WW1 effectively breaking the german line, even the nazi narrative was that the war was not lost due to military.
Korea, Vietnam, Middle East were just straight failures were americans died for no reason. So i wouldnt say they are a great military country. Also what would you expect from a country were people have guns in their houses... what a joke of a country. Long live "Canadá"
I don't agree, because most of the German army was on the East and not the West. And the west started to get pressured only after Soviet's battle of Stalingrad (not like exactly after the battle, after sometime), where the Soviets won and started to push the Fascists back. The US though, did a great job in Asia, beating Fascist Japan, which I can't deny.
Japan and the US lost a shit ton of soldiers everytime they fough to get the islands which resulted in them not trying that anymore so the atomic bomb was the solution, imagine them not doing that and continued and FINALLY managed to get to the mainland... not gonna get any easier and what were the US gonna say back home? yeah we lost 500k just to make them surrender... instead they only lost around 150k because of the atomic bomb which is still insanely high when they ''only'' lost 400k in total of ww2.
Right.. only costed like a shit ton of civilians.... if you cant win with soldiers you dont go kill innocent ppl, thats what terrorists do and i know japan sort of did the same with pearl harbor where they killed both but nothing near as cruel as a nuclear bomb.
just politicians, it was really bad in the 2000s, but now its just small scale corruption like "paying" 24000 euros for a 3 stripe pedestrian crossing in a 200 ppl village to launder some shady money or "favouritism" when assigning state funded construction jobs, id say its more a tax evasion problem than a corruption one, most "project" bussinesses (mechanics, plumbers, electricians, builders) will suggest you pay in hand so you dont need to pay taxes.
Futebol (5 world cup)

so next time, change your flag or try not to say stupid things in literally any post, i'm really start to think that u are very stupid person every moment
right, but he didn't, and that's ultimately what matters
he "could" have won, just like he "could" have lost. there's no way to know
and therefore, reality beats speculation. I like Senna aswell in terms of pure, raw, "liking" a driver. doesnt make him the best basing on "could/should/would" scenarios.
True, it's just about the infrastructure, we don't have it right now or to say not accessible to a huge majority of population.
It's like what we say in F1 that the best driver in the world may have never been on the F1 grid, just because of the financial constraints involved in the sport
Also not all sports are getting enough viewership to get players some decent money
I don't think thats the case, the domestic leagues of Europe is on the other level contrasting to it here in asian countries domestic leagues in football are not very sought after, hence less viewership hence less money associated resulting in less people want a career in football here. In developing countries rising above the current status is the main goal, money provides that mobility, where money is you will find people there.
It's because people are more interested in Cricket than football.
When Brits came to India they primarily played cricket. If they would have played football. We would have been a football nation too. Come to think of it all ex common wealth states except Canada are cricketing nations.
Yeah totally forgot about. it, most people don't like Bollywood, nowadays it's only about favourite star appearance......We are finding other content much more interesting, like web series or low budget movies, hope you get to see some amazing Indian movie, not these overrated bollywood ones
No, no, you got me wrong. I don't feel pain the next day, I feel pain when I drink it because I drank way too much. But it happened with time, I didn't have such things when I was 20, imagine yourself drinking everyday two bottle of vodka or 40 beers for 5 years and then switch to 4 days a week for 3 years.
3. Being annoying patriotic fucks on the internet who can't shut the fuck up about the 90s or the 14th century. Message to my Serbian brothers; Shut the fuck up absolutely nobody cares bar us and Albanians.
Developer in Belgium. We are all french speakers but we recently got a new Spanish colleagues, with whom we have to speak English before he is ready to speak French.
I had a scene about this specific topic this morning, a colleague, who speaks a good English, joined the meeting by saying "todai I dou not want to spik wiss a decENt English accENt"
- and thats exactly why i talked about tekken
- yes every country has their own cuisine, but our cuisine (south asian) is extremely different from the rest, the diversity and the huge amounts of food that you can get in our food is unlike any other cuisine
- should'nt have written this one, the people for us are ofc bad, but if a tourists comes then they'll act like angels straight from heaven, its really weird but thats how it is, but the experience is different for everyone
In comparison to other western nations France has a higher unemployment and lower GDP per capita (even when adjusted to international $) than most others. The only state in the US for example, that has a lower gdp per capita than France is mississippi. The only really notable western nations that France is above are South Korea (yes I know it’s not western but it’s quite westernized at this point) and Italy.
Yup, you do have a strong inequality game going. The number tho, is actually larger than that (what i got from google, was 500 vs 788). However, how you define a continent in an economical context might vary.
I don’t know fully if it’s a good or a bad thing, but this list wasn’t “good things about your country”, it was “things your country is good at”
I would say due to the large quantity of massive companies and extremely rich people, it’s fair to say that the USA is good at making money
dont hate people for what gov made
BTW why you didnt hate georgians, ukranians and etc? USSR - 14 republics. Stalin was Georgian, not Russia. Khrushev was Ukranian, not Russian and etc. 50 percents of the USSR gov was non-russian people.
im sorry but south african cricket rn is even worse than sri lankan cricket, they're probably in their worst ever era rn and its really sad to see the condition of the team, just 5 years ago they were dominating almost everyone but now...
“Nationalism does nothing but teach you to hate people you never met, and to take pride in accomplishments you had no part in.”
With that said - three things that are nice in Sweden:
- good infrastructure
- nice hunting and fishing
- peaceful ppl
(Note: i have never liked big cities, so this is mostly applicable to rural/country-side areas. PPL from Sthlm seems to have gone with the "international attitude".)
When did I say that we were the best? We've had some really good and talented players but for sure there's a lot of better countries. I mean, Sweden is ranked nr 7 in the world. Not bad, so WE'RE GOOD but not as good as FINLAND, US, CANADA.
Just remembered what other fixed expressions there are in Russian associated with Switzerland and maybe also banks. Surprisingly, I've never heard about Luxembourg banks, but, as it turned out, there is and this is almost the main direction they have
I mean not everything is perfect... our living expenses are very high, and while we also earn more money, it's especially difficult for immigrants who may not have the same kind of money that an average Swiss person has. We're also quite conservative politically, though I feel like it's been getting slightly better. My girlfriend who is foreign to this country but speaks our language was shouted at by morons pertaining to SVP (Schweizer Volkspartei), basically our most rightwing political party that is quite openly racist, for "stealing" Swiss men. So yeah, like many other places Switzerland too has some issues, mainly related to being too conservative as people. Other than that the living standard is quite high, though.
In some sense it most likely did and I don't mind except for the fact that SVP is the most voted for party in Switzerland, which to me isn't understandable. I'm not categorically against ideologies on the right side of the political spectrum, I just dislike extremism in general, and unfortunately SVP is an extremist party, all that in a country where apparently about 25.5% of the population is foreign. But yeah, I'm not complaining for myself, more so for others who are affected by this.
other countries on or region. There is this meme that is sadly true where argentinians have a superiority complex over other countries due to having many inmigrants from EU, so that's why you often see all the memes of "Argentina is white!"
Sports (probably the best sports nation in the world taking into account population size. Waterpolo GOAT/ top 2 all time country, basketball top 3 goat country; current MVP, tennis goat player; current best player, one of the best in volleyball recent history too)
Corruption, not mickey mouse corruption like some of yall countries u mentioning, real corruption.
yes, but this landmass is one of instruments for corruption))
