2021 scene is boring?
 |
Switzerland Laytenek
I miss 2014-2017 CS:GO: Old Fnatic Dominando - GODMEISTER and Senior VAC Old Virtus.Plow - pasha london school and SnaxGOD Old Luminosity/SK Gaming - GOD Wallen and GODZERA Old Ninjas in Pyjamas - GOD f0rest Old Cloud 9 - likeable NA team Old Na'Vi - nostalgia Old French scene aka Titan/EnVyUs/G2 - GOD shox and GOD KennyS 2021 pro scene feels so boring, maybe because of ONLINE ERA. Not as many sick plays as before, no crazy crowds on tournaments, a lot of dramas and only 80 000 people watching grand final...

Its boring mostly because of the teams that are in finals, Gambit and OG was just a really boring matchup

I mean, both are solid teams [ atleast Gambit is ], but that's just it. I don't have any emotions when watching their games

yeah your problem is nostalgia
2021-06-13 21:57
I also miss 2017, from 2018 Astralis started to win everything and that was absolutely boring, but probably when Cologne starts and with it the lanes we will start to have a fairly good scene

I've been following cs here and there since 2018, and since then people where saying the game is boring. People just have a bunch of nostalgia to the early years i guess.

This is definitely the most competitive CS has ever been, teams are so good now and anyone could break out into the top 5 at any time. I think it’s exciting.

We will say the same thing in next 5 years, players and teams will always adapt and get better. It's more about emotions when watching those games. "anyone could break out into the top 5 at any time" it is exciting, but it's also caused by online tournaments :/ Major will verify those teams.

"Not as many sick plays as before" sick plays are a result of mistakes by the opposing team and a player capitalizing on them. As teams get more professional and better overall we will see less and less "sick plays" and more "boring games", just deal with it, it's the future. The time of "all aim, no brain" games is over.

"The time of "all aim, no brain" games is over." I wouldn't say it was all about aim, teams were also inventing new crazy strats or boosts ;p

I mean ancient being introduced kind of reminds me more of this older 2017 style if you ask me, it is a lot more chaotic as people try to figure it out
2021-06-14 04:04
2012-16 best scene, and CSGO as game :) No tapping & pugging stuff like nowadays and most entertaining CS:GO matches played ever - no nostalgia
2021-06-13 22:01
Yep, Gambit is the worst thing that happened to tier1 scene. So annoying and boring.

the krieg meta was quite fun and opened a lot of players's eyes, because before that everyone thought that everything besides the ak m4 awp deagle is bad imo and i was having some fun prefiring those awpers that keep holding the same angle for hours with that shit ^^

One thing that could have been a factor too were the new maps that kept getting added or remakes, and nowadays not too much of that and with ancient i feel like it will get boring very fast compared to maps like overpass because there is not many crazy strats that you can do on it
2021-06-13 22:09
you can love it and hate it.. year of the upcomers with cis region getting a huge boost rn all those things can change rapidly again, sweden also used to have a hugeeeee t1-t2 player pool at some point but look at them now... imo gambit rising to the top is a fairytale story and they got my full support, they reminded me of the old astralis core back under older banners so much. i knew they were going to be top 1 someday. But other teams... idk man they seem pretty boring. I feel like some teams need to and probably will come back stronger the upcoming season. My predictions: -Gambit remaining strong -Transfers between Navi / VP / Spirit/ Entropiq (or even new org) creating at least 1 better overall team than all 3 of them currently -Nip getting bigger again (maybe some tranfers as well) -return of some na teams (maybe returning to its od state in 1-2 years) -''new'' french team around zywoo - new players or new org etc -return of a finnish t1 team -big changes for BIG -g2, faze, col, mouz split up: niko, hunter nexa joining/creating full balcan team (or g2 turning into one) col either turning into full dk or eu players leaving faze either quitting csgo with all the players splitting up towards new teams or heavily reinvesting into a new team buying out idk mouz players for example and going broke bc it wont work out lol -astralis ''comeback'' with new players - or players shifting to a new org getting back to #1 dk team (maybe col split up - some players remaining in NA, with dk players joing with the offgoing astralis players)* * example: astralis selling their stars like magisk, dupreeh, etc while focussing on youth or something. (gambit as an idol) would be good for the dk scene tbh and could players like bubz shine again. i feel like magisk, konfig will be in the same team someday again. - maybe its even col transforming into a dk team who knows. and if i start here i wont end and make some cool team (unrealistic tho) magisk konfig an upcoing rifler like zyphon/teses upcoming awp like lucky, tmb, nicodoz ???blamef/es3tag/.......... or if it was just col buying a full dk lineup: konfig blamef es3tag magisk/upcoming rifler acor/upcoming awp

Different due to a new meta, lack of LAN events and (apart from core-Astralis and some other players/teams) none of the old legends still playing but definitely not boring for me at all. I respect your opinion, friend.
2021-06-14 02:30
it really is just no LAN online is so boring to watch, there's barely any memorable events, they all just flow into each other.

Tournament burn out is being a thing for like, 2/3 years? I don't think its the fault of online cs, even on lan it was a problem

No LAN, no crowd and terrible CT economy it's like "if they lose this one they have to eco next" at pretty much every round for the ct event if they're on a 5rounds streak Which is quite terrible
2021-06-14 02:32
1 reply
that's actually ok because if you are on 5 streak ct you can have very bad, very good or average economy(depends on how many time your mates died), the real bullshit is that even if ct wins a pistol but t's got bomb planted, on the 2nd round t's have galils/mac10/(ak if you got multi kills) and ct's get scout/famas/mp9 with poor utility
2021-06-14 07:56
2019 was pretty fun when Liquid were dominating. It was crazy for NA fans to see if they can get the IGS and they did! The fact that all 5 were individually cracked and each were pulling off so many highlights within a couple of months was quite entertaining.

This is because people have a cognitive bias towards the past. We tend to remember things better than they were. Also we tend to remember just the highlights. We also had a lot of drama in the past. I mean olofboost, ibp match fixing, kqly vac ban, etc.

Uhh, no. This really is the shittiest time for this game. No majors, no lans, no crowd, no hype, 80k viewer tier 1 tourney finals, random ass inconsistent scene (toss a coin and you'd be just as right as trying to guess based on top team lists), matchfixing, NA scene moving away to Valorant, teams overall just boring af, no rivalries like NiP/fnatic or Astralis/Liquid, nothing new and exciting at all happening to the game, should I go on? It's boring and empty, in two words.
2021-06-14 04:24

I have to agree with the coin toss thing. Often feels like the HLTV rankings are for nothing, as upsets happen every other game. It's really hard to root for teams like Astralis, NaVi and Vitality nowadays because every other game they play is the hardest game of their careers, and they semi-consistently lose to teams they should 100% beat. It's rough man, there's nothing anyone can do about it cuz obviously everyone wants to prove themselves but it leads to shit like OG vs Gambit in the finals which people won't want to watch cuz it doesn't include the prestigious orgs or any of the superstar players playing. I'll keep watching CSGO esports cuz it's a good time killer, but boy was it definitely far better even a few months ago (December 2020-January 2021 ish)
2021-06-14 11:31
+1. But there is too much tournaments that are supposed to be "important". That is being a problem for years though, and nothing really new. it only gets worse because its online, so it feels the same.
2021-06-14 11:43
Idk its not Best enterteiming to see some random russians play vs mix from eu The only revelant player on match is Hobbit the man with history, valde niko? never liked danish players tbf. LANS are fucking lans now you cant feel the tense, atmosphere or what ever its called Just watching randoms play counter strike nothing exciting

First of all right now it's because of a lack of crowd. And people just want the same people to be the best, and don't want new people coming in. They're also the first to whine about washed up pros.
2021-06-14 03:28
not that the scene is boring, but the game is unimaginative and pretty much dead in a way. f.e newest tac in dust2 was hinge smoke like 2 years ago, before that something new happened in like 2015. no wonder that kids game valorant got so big

The game has indeed gotten more boring, primarily due to the saving meta. The fact that players will save kevlar in pistol round 1v3s is so lame. Sadly this will probably not get better, even if they change the maps like Inferno, where this is the biggest issue.

Speak for yourself, this is the best CS:GO period in time, maybe biased as I'm from CIS but it's a delight to watch and to cheer for teams who finally play on the equal terms and all those old and washed up teams won't recreate the motivation they once had, they're done. It's a great time to be a fan of CS from CIS.

cs is having a generation transition, but we still have many legends on HLTV top 10. s1mple, NiKo, device, dupreeh, Xyp9x, gla1ve, Magisk, electronic. without Major is difficult to form new legends and likeable teams, so most of the top teams don't have much memorable moments.
