streamable.com/73n01i r8? 65kgx5 @ 62kg BW, 4th work set ignore rack clunk on first rep, was bit hasty i guess heels must be on the ground so you can push with them, but i can push just fine with the ball of the foot so idk?

yeah but a lot of women like soft hands but to be fair theres a reason you get callous, tougher hands are more useful for doing shit outside + ur hands dont get that fucked. did climbing for several years and my hands were fine tbh. just hurt a bit at first but it looks normal after tbh. but if he wants to wear gloves he wants to wear gloves, more comfortable and easier to focus maybe

nice form. the path of the bar is great. like you said about your feet, you should keep your heel on the floor. this way you will get more power. benching own bodyweight is nice, but the natural limit is around 1.5x bodyweight so there is still much to achieve. keep it up bro. what's your 1RP max?

Yes,that surely helps,I have pretty damn long arms so I have a disadvantage but its not a big deal.I train for muscle building mainly but I do go for lower rep sets and try getting stronger, building muscle is mostly getting stronger afterall

V good. Find that heel drive helps with better arch. Maybe for you it is different.
2021-06-17 19:47
It looks decent i would say, how long have you worked out for? The one thing i noticed was that you bring the bar down to your chest and then when you push it up again you bring it above your face, in the shape of a curve. I would personally recommend just bringing it down to the actual chest muscles, then bringing it straight up and repeat. Impressive for your BW btw. I'm 75 kg 179 cm and i can do 60 kg * 10 * 4. When i started i was 65 kg and i could do only 35 x 8 x 4 :D. I don't know my PB tho.
2021-06-17 20:01
4 replies
since August but skipped Jan feb and most of march so you're suggesting a straight bar path? mostly this is not adviced
2021-06-17 20:16
3 replies
A completely straight bar path is impossible, but you should indeed try to keep it in as straight a line as possible without compromising form. Curving is correct, but you are curving it way too much. You are putting your shoulders at risk. I can recommend this, it gave me a good boost when i was stuck: youtu.be/vthMCtgVtFw EDIT: Now that i looked at it again, it doesn't look too bad actually. I think i watched the first rep and reacted on it because the first rep as you said yourself wasn't very clean. Just try to keep your arms at a 90 degree angle when you're at the top, then go down towards your chest and back up.
2021-06-17 20:26
2 replies
You're wrong. The path of the barbell is determined by the grip width and the fact that the forearms should at all times be orthogonal to the floor.
2021-06-18 17:12
1 reply
I grip the bar so that when i go down with the bar my arms are bent at 90 degrees. I also angle my arms so that they are 45 degrees parallel to my torso. My forearms are always straight up 0 degrees. Isn’t this the recommended way to do bench presses? And do you mean that i am wrong about the curvature of the bar path aswell?
2021-06-18 18:13
I'm almost the same as you, 174cm 61kg and I have a similar bench as you. One thing I would say, your bar path looks great on the way down, on the way up it could be a little bit better. If you see especially on the last few reps, you go down and then you push straight up, and then at the end, you move the bar (I had the same problem as you). Instead of doing a very curved bar path, try to straighten it up just a little bit and you'll see that you're much stronger.
2021-06-17 20:12
Keeping your foot flat or keeping contact with the ball of the foot is a personal preference. Try both of them out and see which works better for you.
2021-06-17 20:51

Good form for bench, but a few pointers: Keep that bar on your chest a bit longer at the end of the decline, ( a second or so). Taking all the momentum out of the bar and pushing it up from rest will improve your strengh massively Make sure your ass is touching the bench (it might be, it's hard to tell with your clothes) only use straps for your highest weights / when you start to struggle without them, using straps for every set will make your wrists weak (you might be doing this already, dw about this if you are) When lifting without straps you may notice your wrists go bent instead of straight, this is the hardest thing to get right in bench and it's what almost everyone overlooks
2021-06-18 12:31
5 replies
ah, but wasnt that the 1x a week explosiveness training? yea my ass is on the bench, only lifted on unrack theyre gloves not straps. i dont feel the need for straps atm, except when shrugging dumbbells lol thanks
2021-06-18 12:52
4 replies
He meant wraps, not straps.
2021-06-18 16:39
explosive training is 2+ seconds. Should always have a little pause on your chest before pushing back up again, I know no one does it but it's considered the 'proper' form (in powerlifting anyway), and there really is no advantage to bouncing it off your chest. You might add an extra kg or two to your pb but it's just cheating at the end of the day so
2021-06-21 18:56
2 replies
it seems harder when i pause it on my chest. but i guess ill do it if that's proper
2021-06-21 20:31
1 reply
That's the point ;) The reason it feels harder is bc when you don't pause it, the bar literally bounces off of your chest which helps push it up. It'll let you push slightly more weight but it won't have any benefit on your muscle or strength which is why you do the pause
