obviously brother, because it's not an accent for us, it's a reflection of our native language....you will be prised to know that there are many english accent within India which are inspired by the native languages, we have more than 21 major languages and around 5000 total languages. In about 50 km in India, language and culture changes (only a little bit), these small changes leads to so diverse culture and language diaspora

Probably Hinglish, which just a made up language of Hindi and the common words of English. If you're talking an actual language then it's English for sure. Hindi isn't nearly utilised enough on the Internet, atleast in the topics I follow.

I know some swedish also but never learned to the point where I can think in swedish. So my talking in swedish is 50% translating finnish to swedish in my mind.

I do know what the inferiority complex is. But I don't understand why you assume I have it (which I don't) and I don't understand what you’re trying to say. “In psychology, an inferiority complex is an intense personal feeling of inadequacy, often resulting in the belief that one is in some way deficient, or inferior, to others.“ I do not have that. But if you at least try to form a comprehensive thought it might be possible to understand your point
2021-06-19 12:02

I am from Donetsk. I never heard or spoke a word of Ukrainian until I moved to Kyiv in 2014. Now I know the language but it’s extremely difficult for me to speak it, even though I spent a lot of time learning it and even tried to switch at some point. But later I came to the conclusion that it’s way better to just speak whatever language I’m more comfortable with. I do not have a single Ukrainian speaking friend. But when I’m talked to in Ukrainian I respond in Ukrainian as well. If you see something wrong with that I sincerely do not care. I do not believe I am inferior to anyone in any way

Finnish most of the time, but I also think in English from time to time. I feel like I can think clearer in English in some situations, since the language is so different compared to my native language, Finnish. I also used to think some basic stuff in Greek when I was able to speak it better, but I am a bit rusty now so I can't really think very clearly in Greek.

Some time ago i realized that I actually "think in english", for example when i'm planning something in my head i say to myself "ok, I have to this in order to do that..." etc all in english even though im not a native speaker, and I do it subconsciously. Also from what I've read in this thread so far many people do that as well. So yeah, not everyone thinks in their native language.

Primary language is of course Danish, when thinking I suppose it is somewhat depending on context and what language I used latest or say the most that day. English is my third language after Danish and German and I do find my self thinking in all three. I also know some more languages, but I am not using them much and I recall my self thinking in for example Swedish or Italian.

I can speak spanish, a bit of russian, a bit of polish, portuguesse and english I love hearing people speak english fluently, but everytime when i speak with someone irl iam pointlessly trying to build a complex sentence and somewhere in that i lose myself in the grammar really annoying and it stresses me out cuz i dont want to look bad especially on job interviews etc. Everytime tho when i listen to someone with english as primary language they are speaking so fast sometimes with senteces with no proper grammar at all and they just dont give a fck and meh just idk

one thing that especially annoys me when native english speakers don't know the difference between there and their, your and you're, etc like cmon its ur native language how can u be silver 3 in it, I don't get it, especially because english is a pretty easy language

yeah I got 198 points (max 210) on Cambridge English test (international exam) but only 63% on my Estonian exam, and that's my native language lmao

i'd assume it's because the cambridge english test is for non-native english speakers whereas the estonian one is for native estonian speakers

Chances are they didn’t pay attention in 3rd grade and just made it through life because the words are all pronounced the same

I think in German but sometimes I have to check my brain cuz it forgets to change back from English to German when I use it too much.

What does your brain do when it is not sure of the correct article for a noun?
2021-06-19 14:05

the same you do when you forget some noun of your own native language... sometimes I know the word in another language but just can't remember it how to say it in portuguese, so I run off to google to remember the word, after all the feeling of forgeting the word is pretty awful
2021-06-19 15:52
Ha?? English has less than German
2021-06-19 19:34
as a german it's impossible to use the wrong article for a noun because it happens naturally
2021-06-20 13:10
Most of time I think in English. I spend a lot of time reading and speaking English so it comes naturally to me. Has been like that for years now.
2021-06-19 13:53

Finnish and English. I have had habit to think in English for some years already, because I like it and in a way it may even train my English skills. So, it's both or mixture of both. I like to think in English more and it may be even more natural than Finnish.
