 |
Germany sterzik
I personally have no issues with them, but if you do is it really that bad that you cant just think, grab the damn thing with a glass and a piece of paper and throw it out instead of killing it? Poor things done nothing to you mens((( (Except if your australian then it very well might) Thoughts on spiders in general?

well that aint my problem. also i dont even think they are big enough to kill the mosquitoes that sometimes come so they are just useless. at least the smallish lizards serve a god purpose.

Trypophobia is actually more common than you may think, even if it is seen as an irrational fear. Arachnophobia is the second most common phobia in the world, so it may be stupid and make zero sense, but we cannot control what we fear. ^^

it's rational because a disease could cause skin with holes in it and nobody wants that

Well anything can be seen as rational depending on perspective but it would depend on the phobia. With trypophobia, it makes others feel very uneasy and uncomfortable as opposed to actually being scared of it despite the fact it is called a phobia but the word "phobia" can have other meanings. It is the same with homophobia and transphobia, it isn't really a phobia per se but I would assume at times there would be because according to the individual, it evokes the same feeling of unnaturalness. It being relatable with the skin, that is just your mind finding rational cause for the phobia, which is good, friend. xD I'd be very concerned if my skin looked like that also. Pro tip: Avoid pomegranates if you suffer with trypophobia...
2021-06-20 00:53
Yeah i'm not trying to sound special or anything, i just don't understand why i have these completely irrational fears.

None of us do, friend. Science can only explain so much but at the end of the day, we cannot control what we are afraid of. It is the same premise with attraction and certain fetishes/kinks for certain individuals -- we have no idea why such bizarre attractions or fears happen, it just does and we have to live with that. ^^ Have you read the phobia list of all phobias? A LOT of those are very irrational and extremely specific, most of the time it is one in a million somebody actually has a phobia of that. From my experience, it goes in terms of commonness:- - Acrophobia: Fear of heights - Arachnophobia: Fear of spiders - Claustrophobia: Fear of tight spaces/locked in.

It depends on the severity of the phobia. For me personally, I have extreme arachnophobia... I won't even go near them, let alone attempt to remove them from the equation. My fight or flight instantaneously kicks in upon seeing one and I'm gone in a flash. I cannot even look at pictures of them - it's that bad. My uncle also has very bad arachnophobia but he can actually kill them, I can't do that. Imagining the size spiders in Australia honestly makes my skin crawl and even making this post sends shivers down my spine. xD

I've tried but my fear responses are just too strong, my instant and uncontrollable reaction is to flea. For me personally, I have a nervous disposition, which means I pretty much jump at anything and everything, so my fear responses are always on high alert most of the time.
2021-06-20 00:43
same except mine is almost exclusively with tarantulas, not other arachnids. I won't like other spiders but I can look at them without jolting away and screaming (which I would if I saw a pic of a tarantula)

They do. If you do not fear spiders, they are actually very beneficial to have around but given a very, very large percentage of the world is terrified of them, usually they aren't kept as bug repellent.

I never have any issues with spiders. A week ago i felt a sting and some itching and irritation on my shoulder under my shirt while working out. I felt on the shoulder and i could feel like a big bump on it, i thought it was some piece of paper or something that had stuck. I lifted that part of the shirt and out came a fucking spider. I was just so shocked, i threw it on the floor and kicked it away. It was irritated for like 10 minutes and it was itching like hell. Still don’t have any issues with them but i understand why some people do.

Local pet shop that has exotic animals. One of my best friends I see on a pretty much daily basis has 5 reptiles: An iguana, a corn snake, a boa constrictor, a turtle and a bearded dragon, my Brother also had a boa constrictor which unfortunately passed away about a week ago and now currently has the baby boa constrictor of the snake that passed away and a Bosc Monitor Lizard. So I see reptiles on a daily basis and sometimes I go to the shop with them on one condition: I never go to the till. Why? That is where the tarantulas are being sold. One day there was one out on the counter and nobody said anything and I bolted and took the carpet with me -- I was out the shop is milliseconds. Thankfully, the owners know my friend very well who gets all of his pet food from there, so it was all good. :D EDIT: Typographical error.

Mate i love animals but I have spider PTSD from the time I was a kid and I woke up, opened my eyes just in time to see a big ass spider coming down from the ceiling right towards my face... So most of time I try catching bugs and spiders, and tiny spiders I can let walk on my hand and it's fine.. and this usualy works. But bigger spiders (for me big is over 1cm) are fucking fast and sometimes just jump away or whatever, and yeah, the aforementioned PTSD kicks in, so then I'm like ok now it's survival of the fittest, you die. I really really really really really hate spiders, but I try not to kill them if I can. But at times, I have some really big spiders in my room, and they're also really quick, I almost never able to get them out, so if it's a situation where I need to sleep or kill a spider, I'd kill the spider, otherwise I'd stay up all night long trying to hunt the god damn spider.

I am as arachnophobic as it gets. Want to kill me? Let a tarantula loose in my house and I will fucking kill myself. Just seeing a picture of a spider makes me shake uncontrollably

So yeah I cant kill them or even come close to them because I’m starting to panic. Otherwise I would be killing as many as possible.

The real question is what did spiders do to humanity in the past that we are still so scared of them by instincts?

It prolly just serves to keep us from being too curious about them, since one bite could potentially have killed us back then

well same could be said about many animals, insects and fishes but no one scares them as much as spiders

I have a huge phobia against any fucking insect - They all look fucking disgusting and serve absolutely no purpose here.

in the summer I get tons of gnats so I actually like having them to eat them. there also aren't tons of venomous species so I don't have to worry about

i like spidey guys but my gf insta stomps them when she sees them. I feel sad when she does it :(

Im arachnophobic, even if I wanted to spare her, I wouldn't even dare come close to it, it freaks the shit out of me, last time i saw one I threw shoes at it until it died, then left it dead on the floor because picking it up (even if dead) scared me lol

i kill only bigger ones, rest is left to live so they can eat flies, or they end up being eaten by my cat

i dont kill anything intentionally and i dont get why people do it its really sad
2021-06-20 04:36
it depends on size and type, if it's big like "caranguejeira" i'll be scared, if it's tiny and have strong poison like "aranha marrom" i'll be scared, if it's tiny and no poison no problem, i let them be there

Dont put them outside. They will die. Poor spiders :(
