Nah mate chill down, you can look at it the other way. Guy kicks the ball away first and the ukraine player runs to his foot later. Ball clearance first and no intention, ref could have given a yellow too imo but red is understandble too

There's absolutely squad zero in the ruleset regarding Law 12 on reckless play that mentions anything about the intent/situation of the opposing player. I have absolutely no idea what you're talking about.

And in that case the rulset is garbage and has to be reworked I mean in the 1920s there was a ruleset for apartheid So it was in the rules so it must have been good right ?

I disagree. If rules like that were abolished we would have a situation where everyone would dress in protective gear like a certain other sport. The only thing I really want is harsher punishment for dives.

Soccer rules need to be redone simple as that Timeouts should be included so no more „cramping and injuries“ to kill time also whenever the ball is not on the field stop the time so you don’t have these 2 Minute throw ins etc. when a team has a lead Playing for time kills the game and the joy of the crowd Diving needs harsher punishment and throwing or kicking ball away should also be punished with a yellow card Idk why soccer has such shitty rules that are more up to interpretation by the referee... at least they now introduced replays for offside decisions etc so it can be revoked
2021-06-30 02:29

I had a discussion with a friend how to make football better / more entertaining. My first thought was to make the goals bigger. But that would make penalty kicks too easy. Second suggestion we came up with was to skip the offside-rule. That way both teams would have a fisherman just fishing high up, and that would force 1 or 2 defenseman to constantly watch over him. This will in turn create larger areas for the midfielders to actually play football. However this would be a massive change and something FIFA wouldn't do. Then we came up with the third idea, this is my favorite. It's not a huge change, but it's very logical if you think about it. Instead of throw-ins, there should be kick-ins. Football is meant to be played with the feet, having throw-ins is about as logical as having kick-ins in handball. First of all, this would mean a lot more scoring chances. Any throw-in position on the offensive half is suddenly like a free kick. Also it makes it less valuable to kick the ball outside the field for defenders, because they know they give away a kick-in. Secondly is just simple logic. The throw-ins are really weird part of football, especially the weird way they have to throw the ball.
2021-07-01 18:56
+1 imo he just was late and ran into it + the Swede had neither any intent + could he have known that the guy will sprint into his shot
2021-06-30 00:40
Imo could be red or none as well. Intention matters too, hé cleared the ball away and the ukraine player is later
2021-06-29 23:45
9 replies
Even in the 80s this would have been a red. Intention definitely matters, just not in this situation.. not even a little bit. It was completely reckless. With your logic, you can just do a karate kick in someones face as long as you hit the ball. You actively have to try not to be reckless and to not injure the opponents. This has ALWAYS been a thing. Anyone that watches football knows that this is a straight red. If a reckless play doesn't directly injure the other player, it's called dangerous play and will(can) result in an indirect free kick instead. As an example, a bicycle kick can result in a free kick with a card as well if it's performed in a reckless manner that puts the near opponents in physical danger.

I watch football for more than 20 years mate, you see the replay making the scène look worse than it is ffs. tiktok.com/@ziggosport/video/6954805875567611141 Same situatiln here, gets red card and after appeal fa cancelled the suspension and other refs all said its too harsh and some said its none
2021-06-30 00:00
5 replies
That situation has more to do with intent, since it's difficult to determine whether it's a reckless play or not. Nothing that he does seems directly reckless (like his sole flying midair at high speed directly towards his opponent, as an example). It doesn't exactly take a genius to see that it's a bit of a grey area, but I personally think that the red card is in order. Also, the English FA has always been a joke when it comes to appeals.

I dont think danielsons intent was to hit the player, hé fully went for the ball. But as i said, i agree with red card but ppl here yell its deserved and thats where i think theyre wrong Edit: for sure fa is a big joke but other officials came to the same opinion too

I dno about "deserved". I actually cheered for Sweden.. but it was a definitely a red card situation. It's a textbook situation of what the rule on reckless play was meant for.

It’s not like he raised his leg very high the rule says straight leg above ankle If you aren’t allowed to ever straighten your leg above ankle height you wouldn’t be allowed to shoot if someone was near you in case he‘d run into your shot as you would get a red card It was just an unlucky collision with one guy being late It happens in all sports and should never have been punished
2021-06-30 00:42
its a unlucky, but clear, red card
2021-06-30 00:12
Isn't it reckless to knee someone in the face? Why didn't the ref atleast give a yellow to that?
2021-06-30 00:19

That's debatable, but also whataboutism. I personally don't think the play itself was reckless, and I don't think he had much he could do to avoid it, but I don't remember the situation 100%.

+1 football referees are so weird. It was an obvious accident without intention to hurt. Lot of injuries come from two players just colliding without players meaning to hurt each other so idk why in this case red card is given. even though it was a bad injury but there was no bad intention

I shouldn't have been a red definitely a yellow but not a red. fair challenge + he won the ball. And to be fair if the player didn't get injured it wouldn't have been looked as bad as it was. If u look at the challenge with out the consequence its a fine challenge for the ball.

You say kneed in face like it was intentional. Ukraine player hitting the ball and then tripping over the swede who was super late. It was unfortunate but not dangerous play from the Ukraine player. With that logic any goal attempt must be stopped the moment someone tries to block even if they are far away. What next, red card to the Ukraine guy who hit the Swede in the head with the ball?
