sdy most controversial nickname?
World p@rnhub
However It would be interesting to hear why he had to abbreviate it. Like was it himself, or was it FPL who asked after he qualified, or was he getting many comments about it and decided to abbreviate, or was it like some big tournament that asked.

Could just be that he wanted it to be shorter? There was, of course, the case of t3h f4rm3r, who...

It's not a story the Mods would tell you. It's a CS legend. T3h f4rm3r was a Dark Lord of CS, so powerful and so wise he could use the nicknames to influence the game to create life... He had such a knowledge of the dark side that he could even keep the ones he cared about from changing nicks. The dark side of the nicknames is a pathway to many abilities some consider to be unnatural. He became so powerful... the only thing he was afraid of was losing his nickname, which eventually, of course, he did. Unfortunately, he taught an admin everything he knew, then this admin changed his name in his sleep. Ironic, he could save others' nicknames, but not his own.

I believe it was something to do with name not displaying properly on most HUDs. So he just took the first letters of words to shorten it. It honestly sounds cool and it's easier to pronounce

Hmmm I skimmed through last matches of HLTV and only "olofmeister" has 11 letters, "somedieyoung" has 12... if this is the case, for me it's closed :D though not 100% convinced but possible

No, there were pros with longer names. but not on this level. I believe sdy has the longest name out of all CIS teams on HLTV for sure. Idisbalance and some others have 11 characters, but there are no 12 character nicknames that I know of.

I think it was just length, with it being 12 letters total.

I don't see anything controversial about his nickname. Maybe he shortened it because some Russian speakers (even some casters) had trouble pronouncing it, so he didn't want to be "some De Jong" anymore.

I think common sense in the world we live in with all the movements and "democratic" censorship if I should say one could understand why such nickname would be not pleasant to public eye and the public tournament organizers to see on their streams. But as people told seems like 11 letters is limit. I looked today's HLTV matches and longest was 11 letters. Like on faceit you can't make nicknames with spaces, on CSGO you can.

That's weird. In this game we see up to 10 deaths each round, how can the fact that some people die young be problematic for anyone? Is death denial a new social movement or something? The 11-letter limit is the most realistic theory, I agree.

At this point I guess I could give only extreme example for you. Like imagine a major final, let's say 2015 Katowice. Players for fnatic were: flusha, JW, pronax, olofmeister, KRIMZ (coach Devilwalk). For NIP: f0rest, GeT_RiGhT, Xizt, friberg, allu (coach pita). Imagine someone was named somedieyoung. I'm feeling kinda baited to say but you must realize how to the public ear it just is not plausible to have "somedieyoung" playing and casters saying (as I surely guess). Anyone who lost people that were young age could get offended. I'm not of those people (at this moment) but I hope you get my point.

I still not get how anyone who lost people that were young age could get offended. It's a bit sad name for my taste, but absolutely not offensive, especially in a game where public ear fine with casters became ecstatic after terrorist plants bomb and kills 5 people. I'm pretty sure no one would care If someone was named somedieyoung at 2015 Katowice. It's not "somedieyoungandilikeit" or something.

I would say only a reality when he kept (or got to keep) his full nickname could answer the truth

most controversial must be Dickstacy for sure though? Especially since he actually became a pretty known player and got "DICK" as his sticker. To spark controversy the player kinda has to be known since otherwise people dont care, and sdy isnt really controversial in any way?
