Best US state
 |
United States Shr3y
For me, top 3 are 1. Colarado - home state so little biased, but it's still very good in living standards. 2. New Hampshire 3. Massachusetts Which state would you be wanna live in (if you're from outside US)

Too complicated to pull off mens, not everyone wants to give up on their nation even for the greater good. Something real worldchanging needs to happen for this to become even a slight possibility.

This is literally globalism. IDK if you guys are just dumb or malicious, but this isn't and will never be a good idea. A one world government is the means to have global control and no single state or country would be able to righteously defend themselves or their way of life.

"I don't think Canada would regress" 48k canadians move to the US each year compared to 7k americans moving to canada each year canada also has less people than the state of california, idk about "regressing" both countries dead ass look the exact same
2021-08-03 07:15

I just mean regress as in opposition to progressiveness, I think that's the proper term but correct me if I'm wrong. There's zero way Canadians outside of the prairies would assimilate well into American culture. Healthcare, gun control, minority protections, aggressive tax policy, peacekeeping military, social security... I mean in terms of the majority I speak to, these are values held pretty close to heart. Not even just politically but morally
2021-08-03 07:26
Also where are you getting the 48k and 7k stats? I saw numbers similar for estimated total illegal immigrants from either country, but not annual intake? The number of naturalized Canadians living in the US has decreased in the last decade, from any number I've seen the total quantity of our intake from the US is magnitudes higher than out output of immigration?

Because of course people would choose to become beggars in Nebraska or Tennessee. There is a cause why Cali has a high number of homeless and it because it's the richest state in the U.S. Same with every country, You wont see beggars in some rural village because there is nothing to beg for.

"What is "decent" about endless suburbs with no public transport or walkability" Cost of living being reasonable + around 70% of Americans have cars which is higher than most of the world and for a reason, "What is decent about having to get in your car to buy a milkshake?" Holy shit you are so ignorant the country its actually insane, alot of suburbs arent just homes in the middle on nowhere but are basically small communities that have numerous businesses in walking distance, suburbs that are just homes "in the middle of nowhere" are literally built for the use of cars which are significantly cheaper in the US "What is decent about murder rates that trounce the ones of other first world countries?" en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_U.S._state.. the homicide rates in the states are not even close to high and the chances of a homicide happening are little to none, not to mention that the homicide statistic is usually skewed by the urban environments a state has and does not represent the safety of the majority of the state and if we want to get technical en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_between.. vividmaps.com/human-development-index-us.. cope harder xenophobe

Average city planner non-understander. I am from the USA; the way our cities our designed are literally from Satan himself. Seriously, it would be incredibly difficult to design cities in a less efficient way. I lived in Vegas for a while. Public transportation is a complete joke. Walking in the city feels like it's straight out of a nightmare because everything is built for cars and miles apart. Shootings almost every single day. Nothing about the USA is good except for high income, which every developed country has. It's not a perk or something to brag about.

Nah in boston, NYC, LA, sanfran, seattle and springfield I was completely fine getting around with public transportation, cars are definetely needed in some suburbs but the idea that all US cities have horrible public transportation just aint true shootings when adjusted for rates are highly are not significant at all, every developed country is safe. "Nothing about the USA is good except for high income, which every developed country has" every developed country has high median income compared to the rest of the world obviously but americans on average have alot more purchasing power than most developed country, average income is an important way of measuring how developed a nation is nationmaster.com/country-info/stats/Cost.. also their are more pros to living in the US than just income, real estate market Nature Different states that fill different interests and living styles Lower tax rates than most developed countries

I will accept NYC and San Francisco (and maybe boston) as being livable cities with acceptable transportation; the rest, no. Congrats, there are 2 decent cities in a country of 330,000,000 (that also have insane COL). USA is NOT safe compared to other countries with comparable HDI/income. That is a complete denial of reality. Real estate market point is so hilarious that you are either trolling or completely ignorant. Tax rate is also pretty hilarious.

Skewed statistics since Americans pay for a lot of shit that other developed nations do using their tax such as welfare, university and tons of financial benefits for having children, being unemployed etc. Which means Americans need to use a lot of their purchase power buying basic human needs not state covered due to low tax.

Almost everyone in the US can aford owning a car, why would someone even bother about public transportation? Even with its endless suburbs, the avg commute time to work in the US is lower/same level vs EU avg. What is decent about jumping in a bus, or riding the subway to get a milkshake? Or even worse, what is decent about having to walk several blocks during winter just for groceries? Imagine having to wait for a bus during a rainstorm/very cold days... Regarding safety, more than 85% of all crimes in the US are drug related. Most of these crimes are due to gang activity and concentrated mostly in the big city ghettos. Most suburbs in the US enjoy murder rates on same levels as EU. Another topic where the US is way ahead is regarding housing. The avg house size in the US is more than twice the size of the avg EU house. Also, houses in the US are newer and tend to be more well equipped + they are dettached, grating way more privacy to its tenants.

And even then you still almost certainly still need a car to get anywhere, and of course there's somehow no parking either. Other than that, it's just endless, nondistinctive suburbs. Outlet malls with a Ross, Papa Johns, chain grocery store, etc. with a fast food joints scattered around. The only meaningful difference between any city is the weather and cost of living.

I like Louisiana, New Orleans to be more specific. Maybe probably because it feels less American compared to other states. There is also Hawaii but it's more of a state to visit than a state to live.

This comment made me laugh out loud. I used to live in Mississippi, and Louisiana is the only state I genuinely hated and felt unsafe visiting or driving through. Has the same HDI as Estonia, except it's filled with racists and gangs, and it has terrible infrastructure, weather, education, etc. Granted, Mississippi is just as bad, but Louisiana just has a special X factor that makes it distinctly insufferable.

Most states will have a good tech school. Texas has A&M, Florida has one as well, NY has loads of tech schools, Cali has some decent ones, Boston ofc has a lot so mass isn’t a bad choice, hell even my home state has Virginia Tech which isn’t bad. Just avoid states like Alabama, Oklahoma, and South Carolina. They’ll likely have a decent state school but their technical sides just aren’t very good

It is one of the early states of the union ie. an old one so more that is not so different to Europe, climate is similar, the first state to recognize same sex marriages, safe... a clear indication - it is the state that Bernie Sanders is from and he is likely the most European of the US politicians.

I disagree. Not saying that going to church or anything like that is a shared thing, however those ten commandments is the basis for a lot whether you agree or not. They are part of what has shaped civil society in Europe and thus also in the US. To be clear religion may not be the first thing people think about when they wake up or anything like that, however you do not have to go back many generations until you'll find religion was very much a thing. For example much of the education was done in church, the institution of marriage was only through church and so on.

???? Bro cultural diversity isn’t only determined by religion + there is not even one religiom that would somehow show Europeans are very alike… the other side of the river they are catholic and here they are Protestant… and another river here they are still Calvinistic… all have completely different rules and practices
2021-08-04 01:44
1 reply
My point is that religion formed society, which is why with most Europe being Christian or heavily influenced by Christianity it is part of why the culture is very much the same. Note I am not saying completely the same, since not only are there of course other factors there is also different versions of Christianity. It is about the big picture here, which is what makes seeing Europe as one and comparing Vermont to Europe.
2021-08-04 16:44
Basically all states are safe, and same sex marriage is illegal in basically half of europe, and the idea that every politician in europe is as left as bernie sanders is fucking dumb, idk why people say "democrats would be considered right wing in europe", sweden, denmark and france =///////////////= europe

Ah, do tell. How many places have you visited in Europe? There is different levels of crime in the US, not to mention there is states in the US where police are shooting more people and if you look at where there is mass shootings is also not the same. Yes, the US is relatively safe only that is not the same as safe. As for European politicians, pretty much everywhere there is universal health care, the educations systems are free in many places... Maybe you do not wanna see it, however Europe is generally much more in line with what the left wing of the US democrats want. Of course there are exceptions, just like I am sure that Trump the Russian guided clown is an exception when it comes to US presidents.

"Ah, do tell. How many places have you visited in Europe?" None "There is different levels of crime in the US, not to mention there is states in the US where police are shooting more people and if you look at where there is mass shootings is also not the same. Yes, the US is relatively safe only that is not the same as safe." 1. Crime rates in all states are low, and many states have inflated crime rates because of urban areas, the chances of you being involved in a crime in the US is incredibly low, the same is for europe and the same is for basically any developed country 2. like 99.99999% of police shootings are against armed individuals 3. mass shootings also are insanely rare, infact they are so rare that 2 mass shootings happening in finland and norway = the rate of mass shootings happening in the US, mass shootings are incredibly insignificant " Yes, the US is relatively safe only that is not the same as safe." You're an idiot if you beleive this, the chances of being involved in a violent crime in the US is almost 0% "As for European politicians, pretty much everywhere there is universal health care, the educations systems are free in many places" and taxes on the rich are higher than the US than they are in most european countries, the US spends far more per capita on welfare than most european countries and the US lets in far more immigrants than most european countries, and the US has MUCH higher corparate tax rates than every country in europe comparing political parties in the US and europe is stupid as hell, like bro every comment I see you make about the US is easily debunkable and just ignorant, everything you say about the country is incredibly political its actually insane

LOL Your rebuttal is silly. Like fx. your excuse that US cops kill more people because people have guns, first of all as clearly known US cops also kill people that are not armed and secondly there is simply less crime and when there is crime it is seldom that guns are involved ie. it is safer here - and that is despite the US having aprox. 2.3 millions people behind bars. I wont bother going through your whole list, since, sorry, but you are not really doing much more than making excuses.
2021-08-05 16:10

"US cops kill more people because people have guns, first of all as clearly known US cops also kill people that are not armed" 1. The majority of police killings are against people who were breaking the law and were putting them and the polices live at risk, if a criminal shoots at you then you shoot back 2. The amount of people that are unarmed and killed by the police is insanely low and their are far more ways someone could physically harm someone than with a knife, gun etc "secondly there is simply less crime " I never doubted that europe was safer than the US, but calling the US not safe is incrediblly moronic, statistics just do not support that idea at all "I wont bother going through your whole list, since, sorry, but you are not really doing much more than making excuses." Because you cant refute it because you were blatanly wrong and made blind assumptions about a country you quite honestly dont know shit about

Seems like you don't get what really feeling safe is. A nation where people stopped by the police feel they must make damn sure to keep their hands visible, that isn't a safe place. The same goes for schools having metal detectors, guards and pupils that are thought what to do if there is a active shooting taking place. Of course the risk of anything bad actually happening is thankfully tiny, but tiny is much much bigger than virtually impossible. And again I really can not be bothered with your list since you did get so many things wrong, like for example you say the US spends more on welfare than is spend in Europe. The thing is it is not that simple, like for example people working low income jobs here still make a decent living, so they do not need food stamps or two or even three jobs to get by.
