Topics are hidden when running Sport mode.
depends where in germany saxony and the other east bundesländer generally dont really like foreigners while northrhine westfalia and Hesse are more likely to be friendly towards you

Would just like to say that cities like Dresden and Leipzig are generally very open to foreigners. The countryside certainly not so much

yea idk, last two times i visited dorms/halls i couldn't separate the people's appearance and names from people living in refugee shelters. they also couldn't speak german but besides restrictions in social life and closed universities, i think it shouldn't be too hard to find contacts with fellow students in cities with big universities. most young german students are pretty progressive, probably more than you

2021-07-23 10:44
Okay so I am planning to do an exchange year in Germany in 2 years time and before I go I want to learn the language. Ofcourse in 2 years it wont be perfect but itll be enough to communicate. As much as a dickhead you sound youre kinda right. If you come to the country you should atleast attempt to speak the native language

I learned German in highschool, most Germans can speak English well (from what I know) and the language is pretty easy to understand if you know a couple of phrases (just similar to English). You'll be just fine, no stress :D

with the new updates they give you 5 hearts daily if you fail 5 times your daily hearts are lost and you have to wait 24 hours to refill or buy hearts (which is expensive and eventually you will have to buy coins with real money)

Most of my friends who left Poland / Germany for the UK regrets it. Usually, UK people are rather kind, but the amount of idiots and racists per capita is sadly higher than in avg countries. Additionally, in Germany, you have everything in the right order when brits tend to be looser. Oh, and as I saw photos/vids and heard stories from friends, you will have way more people with africa/arabic descends there due to colonialism, which might be a minus too.
2021-07-23 13:37

I hope you go to west Germany. In the east (former DDR) people are known to not really like people from other countries but in the west it should be fine. If you dont understand German at all it will be difficult because teachers will continue to make their classes in German I guess. But im pretty sure you will find some nice people.

i wouldn't generalize that much tbh there's also nice people in eastern germany but there's some truth to it, it sounds like a stupid thing to say in 2021 but they might not be "that used to foreigners" there was basically no immigration in the east before german reunification. also in eastern part first foreign language was russian until 1990 i think so most "older" people will barely speak any english, most younger people should be able to communicate in english though (in east and west).

Yes I agree. For the language skills I think it also depends on the school form. In Hauptschule the students will probably not speak english as good as students in Gymnasium.

- lots of people speak english but the english proficiency can be really low. Either you meet a really good or really bad english speaker here - germans are more direct. They say what they want to say. - germans are more extroverted - germans (especially the older generation) can quickly be annoyed - older generation is less polite - don't go to the eastblock. Unless it's berlin. In the east there are way more nazis and they don't like foreigner - to be accepted in the german society you have to eat this: imgur.com/a/OBDKbEL - I don't know much relevant stuff men(((

I moved to Germany 4 years ago, to Nürnberg to be precise. Beautiful city. Not too big or too small, just the right size. If you are nice, people are nice too, Germans especially. Most of the younger population speaks English, but you should put some effort into learning German. It will do you good in general, and people like to see that you are trying to assimilate. Racism wise, I only had bad experiences with other foreigners, particularly from middle east and southeast Asia (Afghanistan). It was totally unprovoked but it is still a subjective experience so take it with a grain of salt

i read that turks became pretty racist against arabs and syrian immigrants lately because they only speak arabic and can't behave according to the local culture? maybe turks can understand germans now better after all haha, now they know what it means when millions of people come to a country without assimilating.

there is a hugeee difference between your situation and ours man those turks built back your country together with you guys, we never asked anyone to come our country like you guys did in 60s or 70s

also most turks in germany are fucked in the head i can say that from the erdogan votes but at least they are learning german, turkish is like impossible to learn so afghans and syrians are already dont know english so we are in more fucked up situation im not gonna talk about the immigration policy because our borders are like fucked everybody can get into country with no hesitation
