Pets of HLTV (Dog Cancer Follow-Up)

Hi all, Been a while and thought I'd put out another post (with some minor differences). As well as updating you on how Rosie is doing, I also want you to all post your pets for everyone to see, show me all the animals you own, whatever shape or size! Don't worry if you don't have a pet, share some music or an activity/ item you really enjoy with everyone :D imgur.com/a/V2JwFQs Rosie is recovering really well, now the only thing left for her is to re-grow all the fur that was shaved off. She's bouncing round the house like a puppy despite turning 9 this October and she's enjoying walks to the beach. Thank you all, she's only still here because of the insane support from HLTV <3 (oh and on a sidenote I finally hit global which is pretty cool) So, without further ado, show me all the pets!

I had guniea pig, died of cancer last year, I had him for 4 years. I will be importing a caracal cat next year, hopefuly sometimes sooner but corona is a bitch so I will have to wait.

What is it with cats and boxes? Is it all cats that love a box, and why.

yeah they all love it, few exceptions of course. I think it's because of the fact that when they are in them, they are kind of closed off, like a shelter. The smaller, the better, so then the walls are closer to them and they can feel the protection even when they sleep. From what I've learned, cats used to be desert animals, living in dens.

Ahh, that makes sense. Never owned a cat so I've always found the box obsession a tad odd.

Cats are odd for sure, but that's exactly why I love them lmao Big cats even like them too: youtube.com/watch?v=PVagSTNMbN4 another thing I notice, some cats also use the edges of the cardboard boxes to "brush" their teeth, really interesting fact if you ask me ^_^
2021-07-27 18:31

It's certainly a strange but adorable behaviour And using the box to 'brush' their teeth with it is interesting (really cool one of the cats is named Pharaoh, Big Cat Rescue sure like to give their animals names rooted in mythology/ history)

I'm so happy Rosie's doing amazing! I'm afraid I've never had a pet, but I do seem to get along with animals quite well! Thank you for prompting all these cute pictures to be shared!

Thank you for following her fight with cancer, and if you have the means to provide for a pet and research their need beforehand, then it's definitely worth having one! There's stunning photography in #2 and #26 if you wanna check them out!

You need to teach her another map mens!! Happy news! We have a Murray-Darling Carpet Python, her name is Maya and she's about 4 or 5 months old and growing strong and fast! imgur.com/a/lZfaLSh She loves to climb more than anything so I get her out everyday for exercise, except when she's in a funk and doesn't want to (it's been skin shed almost every time). I'm trying to get her to swap to rats at the moment because they're more nutritious as a complete diet but she's not keen at all, hasn't eaten for 3 weeks. I don't blame her to be fair, they smell funky to me compared to the mice too. Oooh. I might try washing it next week to reduce the scent, that's a good idea. Thanks mate, good chat!!

I'm gonna hand it over to my partner on this one, she wants to get a snake but they freak me out despite looking somewhat cute. Think it's mostly how they move that freaks me out, shit doesn't look natural >< Omg she's so cute and she looks like she's doing really well. I am trying to convince him (MysteriousGeorge) to get a royal python because they're lovely and docile so they shouldn't freak him out as much. Snakes always get so grumpy when they're in shed, I swear! You can try scenting the rats? You can buy pre-done scents at reptile stores. Reptilinks have lots of options for scenting? if not maybe try rubbing the thawed water from the mice onto the rats? If I can think of any other ideas I'll let you know :)

Thanks for that, very much appreciated advice! Here's a video if you're interested; youtu.be/BtcK-3hN66k A note on snakes freaking you out by the way, the misses had a fairly severe irrational fear of 'scaled creatures' a decade ago. It was actually so bad that it affected her life often enough for her to do something about it. Long story short, eventually she even ended up with a pet fish. Fast forward to a couple a of years back and I managed to convince her to spend a day at some pet shops looking at lizards with a view to buy if she could stomach having one in the house (provided it stayed in the enclosure while she was downstairs, safely on the other side of the glass like the fish I guess). One of the salesman actually convinced her that snakes are better pets! Fast forward 2 more years and she fell in love with Maya the day we brought her home, it was her idea to buy her that day (I didn't even think it was a possibility as we were walking into the shop, although I'm sure the misses had thought about it, she's pretty fucken awesome like that). It went from "maybe a snake can come out if I'm upstairs" before we went looking, to her standing next to me filming me getting Maya out of the bag and handling her for the first time at home. Just a couple of days ago she held Maya on her own for the first time, with me standing right back. I wouldn't be surprised if there comes a time where she's taking Maya out of her enclosure. What I'm trying to say is, if your partner wants a snake..... ;-)
