You came very late to the game then. German pro series was pretty stacked and on LANs some upsets from random German EPS teams against bigger teams could always happen. teams like DkH, n!faculty, a-Losers, ESC, ocrana, mTw, TBH etc.

And of course there was one of the most oldschool CS clans: TAMM. They've played ClanBase EuroCup III and finished second in 2001.

All teams you mentioned were like tier3 ( except n!faculty maybe) and didn't exist for the long time

bro I've been saying it from my 2000 banned HLTV accounts, but no one seems to react or reply me i Dont know why NO ONE mention that Astralis stole the Astralis name from the danish players. There is no damn way they have never heard of the name Astralis, and ZONIC even played vs Astralis and played in the same era. There is no way they didnt know they were stealing that name. The fragmovie of original astralis was like "aStralis.... A STAR IS BORN" and all that shit, finnish cs scene with bloodR and tihOp and rUUit, naSu and natu and stuff i remember all of them because they were crazy

TV Reportage. Probably one of the first-ever in German TV. The guy with the weird head is Admin of a small LAN and woke them up to play and cried that they are late (even it was 3 or 4 am in the morning. And Chefkoch tells him to shut the fuck up.

Or maybe a team said they did not want to play at around 12 the night before (too late), and to the rescheduled time the next morning they didnt show up (probably were downloading pron the whole night). admin was so kind to remember them in person to play almost 30 minutes after the rescheduled time, idiot kid was rude to admin multiple times, clan was kicked. wow, what a legend.

You can make a show. "Chefkoch vs Admin 2.0" After years of a big fight both meet each other again and will they be friends now? I doubt he is an HLTV user and he was Summit Admin in 2003. I think chances are very low to find him.

Fun Fact: After a couple of years the same admin wanted to spend CHEF-KOCH a beer and he told me that it was the first time he rejected a beer. And yes, I guess it would be tough to find him.

I would have done the same. If he was really sorry about how it ended he would have talked to him at the same LAN. Not years later when he was famous.

Holy shit, this was the glory days of esport. Sleeping in your chair after finishing the group stage at 3 in the morning and having to be up at 7-8 to then have them playoffs delayed by 5-10 hours haha.

Thanks for linking my interview, it was a pleasure talking to CHEF-KOCH. I'm sorry that I didn't create subtitles :( I'll do a documentary about the German CS 1.6 scene and yes, I'll do subs then :D

yeah I can understand that, it's a german channel for german users. Subtitling take times money and effort, as a video editor I 100% know what it feels lo, I'm from ancient CS discord btw so thats how I discovered u :D
2021-07-27 11:39
super awesome. i hope u have more coming from old players, this would actually be super interesting to see where they ended up.

Interesting part is practice : everyone had to play in the role of the other players. Because it is easy to critize but to play the same situation teach a lot. Other part : with higher salary most player lose eager. Today many hold their hand opens but doesn't give their best. He critized the last attax team a bit when he talked about salary

tq :) yea salary sucks for most in 1.6 :\
2021-07-27 09:34
dont u see it? everyone who has 1 -2 majors kinda stops giving a fk.
2021-07-27 09:35
2 replies
S1mple don't. Sure he has no major but with his tournament wins he already has 90% of the pros would grind their status until they don't get a new contract. JKS and Niko are great examples they grind their "superstar" staus and suck hard and destroy their teams but at least they get a nice salary. If you have to earn your salary as they had. it means they had to win tournaments to get in a month over 1k... it means a lot... I wish Orgs would come to a commitment to give a salary limit and then the players get tournament earnings 99%
2021-07-27 09:42

ye but that's cuz he dont have a major and his fire is still burning for the major. but once u win it mayb 2-3 times u just stop giving much about it. especially when the price money is that low. in dota2 it makes sense that all teams only care about one tournament of the year.
2021-07-27 11:50
how much did aTTax pay their players?
2021-07-27 10:39

I dunno. And I think Chefkoch compared his salary from attax to the team nowadays and he expects that they would do better and deserved to earn their money but didn't do it.

I can only guess because he didn't say it. In 2006/2007 only a few German ESL Pro Series clans paid their players salary. I played for some ones and we didn't receive a monthly salary, we only got 95% of the prize money we won. You got 250 Euro (whole team!) for one win in the German ESL pro series and we won like 4 or 5 matches and finished in midfield, so after one season and 14 matches every player received like 200-250 Euro. That was okay for a hobby. I've heard that some of the better teams paid monthly salaries around 200-400€. And I guess that the two best German teams aTTaX and mouz paid higher salaries, but CHEF-KOCH said, it wasn't 4-figure. So probably around 800 Euro + prize money.

I can also do some translations: - He didn't want to name the best CS 1.6 player, but NEO and Potti were really strong in his opinion. SpawN was also a tough player he said. - He talked about his salary in CS 1.6 and he didn't had a 4-figure salary ever in his career, but sometimes he earned 2k€ a month. This is because of the prize money he won. They had a "small" salary playing for aTTaX, but they received a large amount of the prize money they won. - Winning the WSVG 2006 was "just crazy". CHEF-KOCH said that their mix team was the complete underdog and before the tournament started they just wanted to win one match. He still has the rolex that every player received back in the days, but he doesn't wear it ;-). - He had some offers from mousesports, but stayed at Alternate. - Fun fact: He was born and raised in Poland and moved to Germany in his childhood. He still can speak and understand Polish and he talked to the Pentagram guys like Taz or NEO in Polish back in the days. "But they had to talk slowly so I could understand it", CHEF-KOCH said.

"Volksdeutsche", those ethnic Germans from Silesia and Prussia who couldn't leave after/during WW2 or weren't forced to did move back to Germany in the 90s. Same with Wolga-Germans/Russian-Germans who got deported to Sibiria and Khazakstan by Stalin.
2021-07-27 10:43
2k salary back in the days of 1.6 kinda was poggu then. makes u wonder what the best make today.

Yes, I produce it alone and it's my voice. There are many sources like... - readmore demo archive (German news site): forum.readmore.de/forum/esport/counter-s.. - 4Players demo archive (4players.de/cs.php/download_list_demos/-..) - ESEA demo archive Or you can have a look at the YT channels from Ancient CS and Alex M, they also have a lot of demos.
