I remember reading an interesting paper on this topic but I can't find the free version of it to link you. It was an in-depth analysis of a small soviet town’s economy and the wage gap there was quite apparent. In short, the reason why it existed is that after ww2, when a huge chunk of the men were gone, the soviet leadership decided that women were more needed giving birth than working on factories so they changed the stigma from “strong workforce woman” to “hranitilnitsa ochaga”.
Honestly, now that I think of it, it really doesn't even matter if there was a wage gap in the USSR or not. When neither gender earns triple digits who the fuck cares who earns more XD
I find it funny how modern marxist women in post-soviet countries don't realize the absurdity of their ideas.
Just imagine xd
