I remember being so excited about 120Hz LCDs finally arriving at the end of 2009, picked up both the Samsung 2233RZ and the Viewsonic VX2268wm which were the first two 120Hz LCDs coming to market, kept the Viewsonic in this case which I still have to this day and is being used when I work from home as an additional monitor. xD Before those monitors I actually kept using Trinitron CRTs, no way I'd settle with 60/75Hz motion on a LCD.

I personally did not sit at the CRT monitor, I tried to play it in computer clubs for a long time. there was no 0ms input lag response, and you could choose 180 hz at 640 480 resolution

still have my 2233rz as my 2nd monitor :D

TN = super fast, colors and visible angle are terrible VA = kinda fast with decent colors IPS = looks nice but it's the slower (my monitor) if you game alot and u're not a pro player go with VA, if gaming isn't your focus so go with IPS which is my case and i'm pretty happy with it, but if you don't care about it at all and you want the best performance so pick TN
2021-07-31 03:48

TN is still the fastest. But washed out colors and there arent Glossy Screens anymore so it will never look good IPS isnt far behind TN anymore and has the most realistic Colors but bad Contrast VA for fast FPS is the worst but has the best overall Picture Quality in my Eyes. Just pick a good IPS and ur fine. Stay away from VA the Smearing and Ghosting is real

well, it's too old at this point. there are better options (from zowie itself) available now. not to mention the release of 360 hz monitors - thus, 144 hz will not suffice these days, in my opinion.

2021-07-31 15:58
Just because it's old it doesn't mean it's bad, it's still perfectly ok imo. And 360hz monitors are not something everyone can afford, they won't become the common hz for many years to come... only the richer players will have them. + I think 144hz will suffice perfectly fine, the diff between 60 & 144hz is massive but the diff between say 144 & 360hz is much less noticeable.

Interesting, watched it and it seems pretty logical why 240hz is better, so I guess I learned something new haha :D But once 360hz with DyAc will be a thing then for sure 360hz will be better.
2021-07-31 20:31
The point isn't that it isn't "ok", but that there are better options out there. It isn't even that good at it's strong point, the response time performance is arguably worse than recent year ips 144hz monitors.
2021-07-31 19:23
1 reply
Fair enough, I haven't been keeping up with the newer monitors so I can't say whether you're right or wrong, but I think it's performance is pretty good for it's price, not sure if the prices have dropped either, but if they haven't then I didn't see a better one for equal/less money a year ago.

A lot of that is marketing though. BenQ monitors are in the vast majority of competitions, for example. Not that BenQ are bad, I own an older model and it's great, but there are plenty of good brands. Edit: I should add that DyAc is BenQ's name for strobing but other monitors have the same thing. My Gigabyte has an "aim stabilizer" setting that's functionality identical, for instance.

Not specifically, no. In a lot of cases, even if your monitor doesn't have a setting for it you can still enable it through various means. BenQ started including it because people were using config files to do the same thing on their first 120hz monitors. I forget the original term for the process, unfortunately.

I have that one and it's great. If you are a pro, you'll need a TN panel, but if you do other things with the pc an IPS is a must and this one is one of the fastest while being balanced on colors. Don't buy it for hdr, because all the hdr cheap monitors are fake.

Basically the XYZ movement feels a lot smoother. You don't feel it as much as when you drop back from 144hz back to 75hz, thats when you see the real difference. Trying to play on 60hz after 144hz feels like a nightmare.

Buy a 240 Hz one. Honestly, monitor is a long-term thing and you stare at it every day. Don't cheap out. Though, you might need a better CPU. Heard you need 2x fps for a proper experience, but I guess you might temporarily switch settings to 144 Hz.

i average a good 340fps i would say rn. Not always playing with those thingies that shows the fps. But from what ive been told its not really worth buying a 240hz just for gaming. Although i also do all my uni stuff on this pc and monitor also, but oh well

I'd say it's the other way around - 240 Hz monitors are worth it If you play shooters. I've seen (vids) people using 360 Hz Asus monitors to constantly shoot people jumping past mid doors on dust2. The reason I do not recomend 360 Hz monitors is that the tech is a bit fresh. The best matured tech is 240 Hz. Personally, I'm on 240 Hz 1440p. I get that you're probably saying that 144 to 240 is not that great of an upgrade to pay for it, but the panel quality that comes with newer 240 monitors is probably better.
2021-07-31 02:56

For sure man, eventually i will still upgrade at some point up to 240hz least. Just didnt think id need that right away. And with a GTX 970, maybe not the very best combo to see good results. Need better cpu too. But for now everything despite of monitor i was satisfied with (Current monitor is ASUS VG245H)

The AOC 24G2 series. The newer panels are apparently are now better than before in terms of performance. The 24G2 is the standard version with a stand with height and tilt adjustment. Same goes for the 24G2U, but it has an addition of USB ports and speaker on the back. The 24G2E is still the same panel, but a shittier stand and no USB and speakers. Don't get the 24G2E5, its only 75hz.

In what ways? The point of 24g2 is the great value it provides, at the cheap price point, assuming it's close to msrp. What would you need fin monitor to be great for cs, maybe you need to go above with 240hz+.

its not cheap nor good value anymore, that was over a year ago. its like 170-200 bucks, you can get 390 hz ips monitor that is overall better than 2546K just for 400 bucks.

I get that 144hz@1080p is becoming into dated specs at this point. But it's still the best value 1080p option at this price point, isn't it? There is 390hz monitor for 400bucks? Not arrived in my country anything of sorts yet. Anyway i am curently buying 240hz monitor for 296euro. Dell s2522hg. Which is apparently aw2521hf panel parts shuffled into a different model.
2021-08-01 18:02
4 replies
i dont think it is, it's very easy to look it up and i think there are better options now. it probably arrived in your country, there's just 0 marketing because the brand is trying to sell their 360 hz more expensive and shittier monitor.
2021-08-01 18:06

Without looking into reviews and benchmarks, just looking up raw 1080p240hz specs, I don't see any that would dip below around 300euro price. Not counting VA, I discard that by default due to dark color smearing/horrendous dark color response times. But then you also have to look up actual information that proves quality of a monitor, because specs means very little in monitor market. Cunts been lying about 1ms gtg for years, can't figure actual quality of a monitor by numbers in specs alone.

If you use PC only for CS or you're professional - look for 24' TN monitors, rather 240hz If you work/study/surf/watch anime/memes (not only CS) - then look for IPS 144hz screen with good response rate/colors - 8bit/small ghosting and zero overexposing (TN 1ms =/= IPS 1ms, TN 1ms is kinda 2-4ms IPS) TN screens are faster in response, but ugly in colors and brightness. I spend 10-12 hour in front of the screen and play CS only 3-4 hours a day - so i've got IPS 1ms 24' with the best colors on the market (till 300$) - HP x24ih has amazing colors, zero overexposing, pretty fine response rate (1ms IPS = 2-3ms TN), small ghosting and it looks great on the table - almost no frames (only down side). ASUS vg249q is also good, has little worse colors but is more adjustable on the table.

i have a samsung 240hz monitor, it cost around 250-300. it has 5ms latency but otherwise a really good monitor, and 5ms latency is better than my old tv which had 10ms so idc

AOC 24g2u IPS here. Amazing value, amazing colors and angles with true 144hz. I highly recommend it specially if you play other games than CSgo as well because of amazing color reproduction vs atrocious TN panels

You should invest in 240hz. 144 is really bad for cs:go. 90% pros use 240
