Extreme weathers
 |
Poland Cryzilian
Why are there so many extreme weather events nowadays? Floodings in europe and China, Heatwaves in NA and southern europe, huge fires in Turkey and Russia. Feels like the climate is changing or something...

Hopefully science has gone far enough to slow down/reverse climate change

The science behind it is to really stop China and USA as they both produce about 80% of Co2 IIRC (Don't quote me on this one as I only think this is true but I'm not sure). I recycle my trash and don't even use a car but that means shit with all of USA's and China's factories releasing more Co2 into the atmosphere every minute than I'm gonna save in my whole life.

True. We as people can't do much and even if we do our best, it doesn't matter due to countries and companies polluting way too much.

Nah, u will not gonna believe what gonna happen in next 5 years not mention 50 if we keep staying at this pace lol. Luckily covid stop us for 1 to 2 year in some industrial business so enviroment recover a bit. Covid not that bad at all at least for the Earth

i hope you're baiting because these extreme weathers have been happening since forever. climate has been evolving always, we have record low tempratures in some places, yet people make it seem like our planet is almost exploding because of the heat. fear mongering politics, nothing more

i am all for waste seperation, recycling, less use of plastic etc to help the environmet, but when i hear these idiots talk about banning slightly older cars because of too much co2 emissions i get angry, who tf is gonna pay for all that shit?

What arguments do you want from me ? Do you deny humanity's effect on climate over the last 100+- years or not? If you don't what do you think we should do about it ? I agree that paper straws are not the solution. But banning older cars? Not a deal breaking change but still, that's gonna help a little and we have to start somewhere. But i agree it's not the biggest problem.

Well not really... i do agree with banning older cars i just don't think it's gonna solve the problem on it's own. The reason i wrote 0/8 was mostly because the last part "who tf is gonna pay for all that shit?"

if climate change is coming upon us so soon then it really is the megacorporations that contribute a massive amount and they should be the ones first and foremost fixing their shit

With technology progressing at the rate that it is electric cars / other sustainable ways of transport etc will most likely become as cheap as ICE transport, Plus there are already bans in place in many countries starting in the 2030's (or earlier) as well as that most of these countries' governments provide incentives for purchasing electric vehicles (car manufacturing companies are also committed to EV future so at some point it will be inevitable. Hope everyone has a great week further! :D xx <3

Tbh "science" isn't evolving at a high rate. In 60 years people went from inventing the first airplanes to walk in the moon. And now you have what ? A New iPhone every year that is slightest wider that the previous one.

Hi there! :D I must say I disagree with you a little, the amount of scientific discoveries made in the past decade is quite astounding, to mention a few; genome editing / CRISPR, scouting out mars, first flight on mars, reusable rockets (and the cost around sending rockets to space) 3D printing (Buildings etc) Fossil fuel electricity production dropped 20% as we move towards renewable sources as well as just efficiency in general has increased substantially! Hope you have a great day mens)) :D <3

You have just shown you have no clue how complex an iphone is And you can think for 5secs and compare the same areas of tech, a more apt comparison would be modern jets, gps, ion thrusters landing and controlling a robot on mars

Wait, so you are arguing that tech isnt advancing cause we werent able to go to space one year and the next we were, and since then we havent been ablr to make the same breakthrough again?? Despite that, there a lot of new techs in every field Besides, the tech that took us to space was invented millenia ago in china (fireworks), rockets are nothing more than improvements on that

What is a New Technology that was discovered that you talk about? And I dont see why you say new technologies arent being discovered, gene editing is an example
2021-08-02 19:06
1 reply
I didn't say about any new technology in specific, neither have I said that that aren't new technologies being discovered. I mean, a 2 sec search and you would find thousands of articles stating precisely what I'm saying. Major scientific breakthroughs are less and less common. There's fewer New discoveries rather than New advances on known tecnologies. I don't even know why are you arguing something that is well known.

Natural disasters/ Extreme conditions happened always and everywhere. The difference is that before there wasn't a camera everywhere and now plus to that everyone are looking into it and "exposing" every little thing. Which makes it look like now is way worse than before, because before you never hear of it, and now if a cow farts in Índia, its all Over the news
