Used to float between London and Singapore with my partner, but since the pandemic we have stayed in Singapore as the government here have dealt really well with the outbreak. I managed to get out of India by sheer hard work, and great sacrifices by my parents who put everything into my education. I sold my law consulting business last year so I've had more time to work on projects that I like, not really committing to anything so these days but I'm dabbling around on the Stock market. The best part is being able to give my parents a comfortable life that they had forsaken to give me a fine chance.

That is very respectable and inspiring. That's so sad that parents have to sacrifice in order for you to have a chance at succeeding. I'm glad that in the nordic countries we get education and other social services from the government in exchange for high progressive taxation so that people get educated and get a good job but it's unfortunate how we have a little bit of "brain leak" where smart and educated people move abroad to make bank. Good luck in your future.
2021-08-06 13:36
2 replies
Yeah, well India also suffers the same "Brain leak" but it's far worse here because there is no reason whatsoever to stay in India if you have the opportunity to leave. At least for you guys your quality of life/ standard of living is phenomenal, despite (or because) of the taxation. I love my country but at times it is very difficult to do so. Thanks for your wishes, all the best for you too.

True, as someone who sits a lot in programming I know there are so many talented Indian programmers and they have to leave India because why would you want to earn 5 times less the salary you get abroad.

KL are more laid back than SG and offer same not less than SG imho. What i dont like about SG is expensive and the weather. I find malaysians are friendlier than SGers in general. I remember when i was in SG people sometimes bring their laptop while having lunch

I can't confirm or deny that, but my social circle is perfect for me, so I don't have any complaints at all. Yeah the weather is far less than ideal but all the benefits more than make up for it (the weather is excellent for exercise). Saying Singapore is expensive is pretty stupid because while the cost of living is indeed high, the income is also very high atleast in my case. All that means is that when I go overseas I'm wealthier than the vast majority of people.

“ as someone who come in Rotterdam at a daily bases,” no mens)) im from Brabant and south Holland, live in south Holland atm, before in Baarle. It’s not an industrious city mens… the bombing led to a “modern” rebuild of the city and it just looks bad tbh, ofc they are beautiful things near by, Schiedam en Vlaardingen who border the city directly and Delft Den Haag and Gouda which are all a 5-10 min drive away via the highway + the posh hillgersberg is still beautiful, def check that out if you decide to visit:)

Im originally from baarle, or Baarle nasau, it’s the place with the weird borders mens)) But other half of my family is Hollands so I live in south Holland rn Yes they are close but that’s netherlands! The places hate each other and there is a big rivalry, take for example Breda and Tilburg, the city limits are like 20km apart… big rivalry’ and Rotterdam is a different dialect then Den Haag which is 10 km to the north west
2021-08-04 02:15
1 reply
damn, that is actually insane to me. I actually kinda thought The Hague and Rotterdam were somehow the same place but apparently they're completely different even though 10km is like a running distance wtf gotta be crazy though, the good thing is that it probably allows for you to get to know the whole country in a couple days lol and those borders are indeed pretty weird wtf is the story with them?

Yeah, my life has changed a lot. I've been living here for a 3 years already. I moved over here due to the educational purposes + some family members have been working in Switzerland for a long time. I have always loved learning foreign languages and Switzerland is a great example of country which allows you to enlarge your knowledge regarding studying languages. I'm not gonna complain about Polish educational system at all. However, if I need to be honest, I would have never learnt anything in Poland, simply because everyone places importance on hearing recordings, reading texts, doing grammar instead of using this language in practise. Usually, when I was trying to talk with foreigner I just kept stuttering and forgetting even basic words. Since then, I definitely improved a lot in all aspects and conversation in English just feels natural to me now, even though my English isn't fluent yet but at least I can talk to ppl on a regular basis. Also, I'm already fluent in German.

I share your passion for languages, however I don't think I'm quite as engaged in learning new ones as you seem to be :d (but it's not stopping me from at least trying) I have moved to the UK almost 6 years ago for basically the same reasons. I learnt the language, finished high school and I'm going to University to study E&EEng at the end of this year. Glad I'm here, but that said I think I'm going to move to a different country in the EU after my studies if possible, preferably #91 Thank you for your little insight mens)), hope you enjoy life)

I don't know, preferably one of the following: Liechtenstein, Austria, Netherlands, Nordics, New Zealand, Canada, Japan. Only going off of what I've heard about these countries, I'd love to at least visit all of them sometime.

Canada because my brother already went there, i have some family and people there are very nice, its kinda cold and i like it, also would be really cool being able to play games without having to worry about my 250 ping, France because same thing with the Ping again, is in Europe, has good beaches, not very cold but not very hot, and if i ever wanted to go to a entirely different continent i could by just going for example to french guiana and being in south america :)

1 Of these 4 countries (not in order) 1. Singapore: I have visited there before and I loved the food, scenery, culture and the warmth, also majority of them speaks English for native. The downside is that people behave so much differently in Asia compared to what I have used to in Europe so it would confuse me sometimes and maybe even make me look stupid. Also Singapore is so far away from Finland. 2. Canada: I never visited the country but I would love to! I have heard so much good about Canada and it has same like weather like we have in Finland. Also English language makes it even easier to settle in. Downside is that it’s also far away and tbh I don’t know that much about Canada. BUT I know that you guys love to eat your syrup and play ice hockey! 3. Norway: Pretty much like Finland maybe even better so it would feel like closest to my home country and the biggest plusses is that you guys dont belong in EU and you are really close to Finland. ;) Downside is that the Norwegian language would take some time to learn for me atleast so it makes it a little bit harder to settle in. I know that most of the Norwegian people can speak fluent English and it will help but in my opinion you should always learn the native language to settle in better and show respect. 4. Switzerland: This is a Country that I have dreamed of visiting someday. I have few friends from there and I have heard so many amazing things that could make me move there aswell. Also you guys don’t belong to EU so thats nice! ;) Downside: I would need to learn Swiss German and/or Swiss French even though many people in Switzerland speaks English but like I said it is respected to speak the native language and it’s alot easier to settle in to the country. (work, friends, casual stuff becomes easier).
